thinkin' about this a lot, and the fact that Goethe had not read Marlowe when he wrote Faust I
* reasonably but not completely literal translation of the German:
#faust#hot faust summer#doctor faustus#'dann will ich gern zu grunde gehen' is more literally#'then will i gladly go into the ground' i think#which i like much better#(also i'm always pleased with how much of the german i can follow)
