truly not to be that vinylhead but not only do i wholeheartedly believe that vinyl is the best richest warmest way to listen to music, the physical ritual of picking up a disc and putting it on a turntable and hearing the crackle and pops of the plastic transports you into a different acoustic space and that digital media just isn’t the same

#the ritual of making and listening to mixtapes is similar and related but not the same; same with burning CDs #i'm gonna end up writing a paper on this at some point but i just think the intimacy of the vinyl record is really distinct and you enter #into a different relationship with both the artist and the art when you listen on vinyl because it's a different type of engagement #anyways; i'm listening to the hissing of summer lawns on my turntable in my little apartment and this is an album that i never really #'got' when listening to it digitally but there's something about my old crackly cheap copy i got for five bucks at the record store and the #act of putting it on and deliberately listening opened up this album for me in a new way
