he's  deeply  engrossed  in  what  he's  reading  —  so  much  so  that  he  doesn't  think  twice  before  picking  up  his  (  scalding  hot  )  tea  and  downing  the  entire  cup  in  one  swift  motion.  by  the  time  he  realizes  his  mistake,  it's  already  too  late;  the  wanderer  makes  a  strangled  little  sound  of  SURPRISE  and  slams  the  glass  back  down  on  the  table. by some miracle, it doesn't break.
