Happy Birthday, Luna!!
Thank you for working so hard in f(x). Thank you for thinking of MeUs all the time. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world.
Now to the gushing over Luna(’s vocals). Long post with lots of videos ahead, so hopefully this fake cut works on mobile –
I actually want to take this time to celebrate not just Luna but also f(x). Because her comments at her surprise party shows the love they have for each other. And because Luna’s singing talent is so prodigious, and f(x) really showcases that. We’ll get to that in a bit.
First of all, because it’s seriously one of the best parts of Docking Station, here’s Luna destroying us with her Red Light bridge, rock-style:

This really shows her versatility, since f(x) doesn’t really do much rock, and it really sticks it to whoever told her she shouldn’t sing rock. (Seriously, eff them.)
And here’re the songs that really got me interested in Luna as a singer.

The best part is K. Gura looking completely flabbergasted.
And then Jet (with bonus Electric Shock).

That slide into the high note......... gets me every time.
Finally, I want to end something a little more f(x)-centered. Because we wouldn’t have Luna (or any of the others) without the entity that is “f(x).”
Last month, poor Luna was forced to represent f(x) alone at SMT0WN. But (putting aside our bitterness that she had to do so) her doing so not only resulted in some super fantastic fancams, it showed both her talent and the essence of f(x) itself; that is, harmony and blending. While Luna sings this perfectly, only having one voice reveals the importance of how f(x)’s voices blend together. The slide in vocal tone from Krystal to Victoria to Amber to Luna really makes the song, and so you really need all of them. At the same time, Luna is clearly cognizant of this. If you listen closely to the video below, you can actually hear that Luna is, very impressively, mimicking her members’ voices. It’s easiest to tell with Amber’s part, because it’s right next to Luna’s, but you also get a hint of it at the very end, with Krystal’s note.

(This version has the best audio, but since Twitter is stupid, I had to get the YouTube rip. The original version is here.)
It’s so fascinating to hear, and I love that Luna was able to and did do this.
At any rate, I could go on and on about Luna. I didn’t even get to her genuine cinnamon roll nature, but then I think this post would be even longer. Besides, that shows through in everything she does, whether she’s singing or not, so does it even need to be explained?
Happy Birthday, Luna! MeUs love you~~~
