the last few months had come with so much change. the loss of her parents and subsequent move to london to live with her aunt, followed a couple of weeks later by the end of a two year long relationship. there was pain tied to both, but the latter had left her with so much added doubt. susan had loved adrian, and a part of her still did, but seeing his parents' names on her aunt's list of confirmed death eaters had been too much to ignore. so she'd broken things off without much explanation, then proceeded to avoid him as best she could. something easier done without the forced proximity of the suddenly too small hogwarts campus. she could only hope he'd opted not to attend tonight's masquerade. "shit." because of course he hadn't, and now susan found her gaze landing on her recent ex when she'd been scanning the crowd for any other familiar face. "double shit." because of course he'd spotted her spotting him. and, "triple shit." because of course he just had to start towards her.

"heard about the state you left the bones girl in at the party." hestia had never been one to waste time of friendly greetings. sitting herself across from adrian at the table, she did little to hide the pleased grin she wore. perusing the breakfast selections still littered between them, she reached for a simple plate of tomatoes and eggs. "i must admit, i was beginning to think you actually cared for the miserable cow. you should be proud, the last two years have been a far more convincing bit of acting than i've seen in any film."

Parking the car along the curb, he shut off the engine while he waited. He drummed his fingers against the wheel, glancing out the window until he spotted Jihyun coming out from work. Rolling down his window, he stuck his arm out in a wave to grab his attention. "You know, I didn't realize being friends with you would mean I'd end up being your personal Uber driver," he joked as he got into the car. Pulling away from the curb once he'd settled in, Adrian glanced over at him for a second before paying attention to the road again. "So did you want to get something or did you want me to just drop you off?"

Gael only wanted a moment, one moment, to clean himself up a bit. That’s all. He didn’t want to appear like he was ungrateful for the opportunity or like he was shirking his duties at all. It’s part of the reason he’s so startled when he rounds the corner and nearly runs into a vampire. “A-Apologies! I swear I’m not quitting, Father. The break wasn’t for me, but for all of you.” Gael is ignorant of the politics of vampires. All he knows is that one chosen to officiate a wedding must surely be important. This vampire’s disapproval could tank his popularity and Gael would die if anyone thought he was a subpar thrall. “Presentation is an important component of any meal. It’s ok that I cleaned up a little, right?”

the line clicks over a few rings in , and she barely leaves room for a 'hello' before she's off to the races. she catches her breath as she darts inside to escape the rain beginning to pick up. ❛❛ so, i know we didn't technically have plans . . . ❜❜ the hesitance in her voice, the careful pause before she continues, is for show only. so many of their conversations start out similarly to this one, it's almost routine. ❛❛ but . . .❜❜ there it is. that single word. but. it encapsulates almost everything in three letters. a word that contradicts everything that has come before it. they were supposed to be just friends, but . . . now she has a set of pajamas that live in his apartment, and several of his shirts make it through her weekly laundry rotation. it's casual, but . . . ❛❛ i got bored at home. so , then i thought i'd read in the park, and i obviously forgot to check the hourly forecast and it started raining . so i just thought i'd check and see if you wanted to hang out ❜❜ she begins rummaging through her bag for something, keys hitting her metal water bottle with a clank, paper rustling. it should be audible enough for adrian to hear on the other side of his door, which maggie now stands in front of. ❛❛ it's going to be so embarrassing for us both if you say no, because i'm smiling very sweetly at your doorbell thing right now. ❜❜

“Do you want another blanket?” River asked, leaning over to Adrian sitting near them. They counted themselves overwhelmingly lucky they had so many friends that cared enough to keep them company over the weekend. It definitely helped distract them from all the horrible scenarios flashing into their head. “I thought they said the generator was the reason we came here but I’m so cold. Do you think we would get in trouble if we just like, started a fire? In a trash can?” River joked with a quiet laugh. They liked hanging out with Adrian. Between their love of music and being their co-worker at Restricted Access they always seem to have a good time. It sucked they couldn’t party together anymore, but it was cool that he still wanted to hang out with them once they started to navigate this whole sober lifestyle thing. Though River is still trying to figure out if that means they can’t have anything anymore, or just stay away from all the unnatural stuff.

Getting back to normal was one of those things that Valeria was struggling with. How could she get back to something she never had? Her mami and her had not had much time together and she really didn’t know what she was supposed to do with herself. Everything cost money and her job was fine, but how long could she reasonably run a cart of flowers on the street or in the park when the winter was just around the corner? Most of the time she didn’t think about these things though. They were problems for future Valeria. “I don’t like coffee,” she said, handing the coffee cup over to Adrian. “I only took one sip. I’m going to get tea. Do you want anything?”

Wednesday x Kitsune!reader

Wednesday was never one for public displays of affection. And you were fine with that. You knew how she was in private so you were damn well going to respect her boundaries when out in public. You still weren't outside of her arm's reach at all times. She was still always within your orbit. And at the most, when there's no one around, you chanced a quick peck on the cheek.

Wednesday was also never one for sharing. While she trusted you fully, she didn't trust the intent of other people. Even the idea of someone plotting to steal you away made her take a tighter hold of her pocket mace. But she had to navigate these waters carefully. In contrast to her, you were an affectionate person. To those who were willing, you constantly found ways to touch them. An arm around shoulders, a hand on the back, or a hug that felt like it came from your soul. People gravitated towards you because of it. And some people gravitated towards you with nefarious intent.

Nefarious to her at least.

Even now, as she watches you in the Quad, there is someone with plans to steal you away. She sees it clearly. Leaning against you, running her hands up and down your arms. Her body always angled towards you. It nauseated her. And it seemed to annoy you as well. You were constantly brushing her off, turning away, and telling her to back off. But she was persistent. Time for Wednesday to step in.

With a confident strut, the goth walks up to the group. She manages to catch your eye and you immediately light up. Her heart flutters at the sight, but she stamps it down so she can deal with this harlot.

"Wednesday!" You hop up and make her way to meet her. When you're close, you stand within her hand's reach, maintaining her personal boundaries. Wednesday had other plans.

"Cara mia." She reaches out for you and caresses your face. You're taken aback by surprise but you welcome the contact, melting slightly at the touch.

"My dark soul." You lean in and place a soft kiss on Wednesday's lips. The goth pushes further, deepening the kiss. A pleasant hum emits from your throat as you pull her into your arms. The only thing to cause you two to separate was a loud clearing of someone's throat. The girl trying to flirt with you is fuming. Your friends are whooping and poking fun at you which only results in Wednesday pulling you away from them.

"See you later, ya lovebirds!" You hear Adrian yell out. You let out a laugh before finally walking in pace with your other half.

"Thanks for getting me out of there. Any longer and I would've singed her with foxfire."

"I wouldn't have stopped at singeing." You just shake your head.

"I'm well aware." Now that you're alone, you pull Wednesday to you again and hold her close. "And I love you for it."

Wednesday just smirks and pulls you into another kiss. This time, with the veil of privacy, it's possessive. One hand holds you still at the back of your neck while the other clings onto the front of your shirt. You have one hand gripping her waist while the other presses against her back. It's a good while before you emerge from your little world. A pleased growl sounds from you as you nip her lower lip.

"Let's get going. We won't be alone for much longer."

"It's about time for my writing hour. Join me?"

"Forever and always."

Despite his neighbor's insistence they would hit it off, his intentions of meeting her hadn't been in the hopes of actually finding a relationship. And after meeting her, it seemed like that was for the best -- Adrian hadn't truly accounted what his neighbor had meant when she'd said her granddaughter was famous. It was weird getting a text from his sister asking him if this picture she found on some website was of him and Tessa. Not sure how to respond to that, he simply ignored it. But he hadn't exactly planned on bumping into the woman again even as he ended up in his neighbor's place to help her with something. "Oh, hey..." he uttered awkwardly. He gestured towards his neighbor. "She just needed help with moving something."
