I noticed that both the Commander and Syfyn kick people affectionately. Who got it from who?

Either MC was forced to learn to kick people affectionately because Syfyn was just bruising tf out of their calves and they needed to defend themself, or both MC + Syfyn were both little affectionate kicking gremlins who fueled each other.
