Hey so, this is a fun little message to ANY fandom out there; if your fanbase has a specific well-known fic in the fandom, please please PLEASE do not compare smaller, lesser-know fics to that fic or go 'Hey, this reminds me of [x fic]!'

Even if the well-known fic is REALLY good and it's meant to be a compliment, I CANNOT emphasize how much this will make the writer of the lesser-known fic feel INCREDIBLY bad about themselves and their own writing. Like, what's the point in continuing THEIR work if that other fic is already so good?

Yeah, yeah, two cakes and all that, but when your cake is constantly being compared to someone else's and that other cake is constantly heralded as the best cake in the bakery, why bother trying to keep baking?
