Vortex Optics Viper Red Dot 6 MOA Gun Sight
VIPER RED DOT 6 MOA Dot: The Viper Red Dot’s super-low mounting height makes it the perfect solution for handguns with cutout slides. The Viper gives shooters the simplicity and speed advantage of a dot sight, while co-witnessing with stock iron sights. The trade off? Nothing. The 6 MOA dot diameter gets shooters on target fast. Ruggedly constructed to withstand recoil and impact, the Viper utilizes O-ring seals to prevent moisture, dust and debris from penetrating; providing reliable performance in all environments.
Vortex ArmorTek and fully multi-coated lenses provide an ultra-clear wide unobstructed field of view. Compact and lightweight, the Viper’s Single-Piece Chassis features a highly durable low-glare matte hard anodized finish. NOTE: The Viper comes with a Picatinny mount. Redot weighs 2.1 ounces with mount.
Reliable operation in all environments, provided by waterproof and shockproof performance. The Viper features unlimited eye relief and the 6 MOA Dot is daylight bright, and clearly visible regardless of lighting conditions
Make sure the battery is installed correctly. Be sure the battery is installed with the + side facing upwards. Check for the red dot before installing the unit on your firearm. Once the unit is installed on the firearm, be sure the windage and elevation lock screws are tight before firing. Loose screws can allow the battery to become loose and cause the unit to no longer function correctly, or hold zero.
When sighting in the optic, it is important to note that the adjustments are protected by lock screws which must be loosened with the included small screwdriver before any adjustments are made. Lock screws must also be tightened before firing.
To adjust the elevation and windage settings follow the below steps A. Loosen the Adjustment Lock Screws 1½ turns. B. Adjust dials up or down or left or right as indicated by arrows. C. Re-tighten lock screws after making adjustments.
Flip Dot/Rd Il/Glock MOS/Adptr
This FlipDot Reflex Optic has a very unique feature not found in any other optic, the optic has a folding lens assembly that folds down flat into a very compact size, making it less likely to snag or print when it’s in a holster. The folding lens also functions as the On/Off switch. When the lens is deployed in the upright position the optic automatically turns On, when the lens is folded down it powers Off.
This FlipDot Reflex Optic design has the benefits of a wide field of view and unlimited eye relief. This helps the shooter to acquire and engage the targets much quicker.
The FlipDot Patent Pending folding Red dot reflex lens (22mm X 16mm) folds down flat when not in use. With a push of a button the FlipDot lens flips up and automatically turns on. Folding the lens down turns the optic off.
The 3 MOA Red dot is fully adjustable for windage and elevation. Integrated into the FlipDot body is a backup rear sight and on the bottom of the FlipDot lens frame is a backup front sight post.
The FlipDot backup iron sights function when the lens is deployed in the up position, through the glass lens. The FlipDot backup iron sights will cowitness with most of the Glock® suppressor height sights installed on the slide (if equipped).
Includes a Glock® MOS compatible mounting plate, *spare MOS mounting screws, 2mm optic spacer for RMR® mounting applications, spare CR2032 battery, optics cover, and mounting & adjustment tools. *Glock® MOS compatible mounting screws are included. Optic mounting screws for other types of slides are not included, please source the mounting screws from the slide manufacturer for an RMR® type optic for non Glock® MOS slides. Note: the use of the 2mm optic spacer for RMR® mounting applications may require longer optic mounting screws. Please follow mounting instructions in the FlipDot manual.
Weight is 1.0 oz. without the Glock® MOS mounting plate. Constructed of hard anodized aluminum. Ruby coated glass lens.

Why would you have chosen a subcompact as a service pistol?
A loaded Glock 42, with two extra magazines and a B&T Impuls-VA sound suppressor weights less (by 5 grams 😀) than an empty Glock 17.
From my experience, with its very soft recoil and good compromise grip size, it can be used by 95% of people (including 12 y.o. kids) with efficiency, while a G17 (and a lot of double-column magazine pistols) undermines the shooting fundamental of handling for a lot of people with non-standard hands.
Of course, you give up a bit of firepower, but given the function of a military sidearm (once again, I unashamedly quote myself : status symbol, disciplinary tool, last-ditch self-defense/suicide weapon, and morale/confidence booster), they are mostly dead weight (”ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain”) that could be traded for more ammunition for the rifle, water, ballistic plates, medical emergency equipment, communication or “force-multiplier” gizmos.
The time of full-size sidearms (M9, M17, P220, P8, G17...) is over. They have been replaced in their previous role by light carbines and PDW since at least fifteen years. I’m still thinking my P325 idea would be a better all-around compromise for civilian/LEO concealed carry, but Army boys would make do with a micro-compact.

Army’s New B&T Sub Compact Weapon on hand at NRAAM
The B&T APC9K will almost fit in the palm of your hand– if you have really big hands. (Photos: Chris Eger/Guns.com)
B&T USA had their new APC9K sub guns, recently chosen for a hard-fought U.S. Army contract, on display for the crowd at the NRA Annual Meetings in Indy.
The APC9K was chosen for a small run of guns, dubbed “Sub Compact Weapons,” to arm the military’s Personal Security Details. The contract, which saw as many as 13 gun makers express interest, required firearms, “capable of engaging threat personnel with a high volume of lethal and accurate fires at close range with minimal collateral damage.”
With the stock extended, the sub gun is still under 21-inches overall
The final award, $2.5 million for 350 SCWs, with an option for up to 1,000 of the weapons, stressed that the winner needed to be as compact as possible.
The standard APC9 is a 9mm blowback action three-position select-fire SMG that fires from a closed bolt at a cyclic rate of 1,080 rounds-per-minute. The APC9K, with the final letter in the designation short for “kurz” or short, is a more compact version with a 5.4-inch barrel and 13.6-inch overall length with the stock fully collapsed.
Note the 3-lug suppressor QD attachment and rails to accommodate both BUIS and optics
Interestingly, B&T reps told Guns.com the APC9 series lower receiver can be configured for use with either B&T’s proprietary double-stack detachable magazines, Glock mags, or Sig Sauer P320 9mm magazines. It should be noted that the Army is currently moving to the M17 and M18 series of pistols, made by Sig, which is based on the P320.
The APC9K uses ambidextrous non-reciprocating charging handles that fold down when not in use
And it is a very compact package
The military originally courted designs from a literal A-to-Z in compact gun makers including Angstadt, Colt, CMMG, CZ, Heckler & Koch, Lewis Machine & Tool, Noveske, PTR, Quarter Circle, and Zenith Firearms before choosing B&T. The company, with Swiss roots, plans on a semi-auto version of the APC9K.
