Mika stood in the center of the room, cup of water in hand, gently swirling the liquid.
She stood outside and stared up at the sky. She couldnt handle the New Year's party. It was so.. lonely..
It was a huge, beautiful party hosted by one of the popular chicks from her highschool days. She was pretty sure the only reason she was invited was because that girl was still scared of her.
Everyone was back then. Well, the people her and Lexi messed with were.
She faintly smiled at the memories. Those assholes got what they deserved when Mika and Lexi pranked and kicked their asses.
She didn't even know what Lexi was doing. As far as Mika knew, Lexi was staying home, having gotten wrapped up at a party the night before.
No one had heard from Scott for a few nights. She wondered if he'd died on the nightshift.
Vincent was.. well, you know him. Crazy man. Mika wasn't exactly in touch with him.
She knew Jeremy wouldn't be there, the shy boy disliking parties since they met.
She assumed Mike was asleep. The poor guy was constantly drained from the nightshift, so he slept as much as he could.
And then a sickening memory hit her.
Miss. Goodie. Two Shoes.
Mika nearly dropped her cup at the thought of that disgusting twin. But the words that that little rich girl had said began to make her wonder..
"Was she right..?"
"Does Lexi really hate me...?"
"Mike would never love me, would he..?"
She curled up on the steps. "Haha, I'm pathetic aren't I..? I'm a grown ass woman, and I cant even hold myself together.." She muttered to herself.
She shook her head, standing and going back into the mansion.
She was soon taken by surprise when- not long after resting against a wall near a table- a certain cynical, blue-eyed boy twirled her and dipped her.
"Well, fancy seeing you here~"
"Michael!"
Mika playfully tapped Mike's chest as he let her go. He was just to say tipsy. Not drunk enough to do anything dangerous, and not tipsy enough to lose himself, just a little more laid back and out of it.
The full, genuine smile that formed on Mika's face made Mike smile too. It wasn't often Mika smiled anymore. "I can't believe you're here." She said, wiping a few tears away before they could escape. "Well, a little birdy told me you were here.. Figured I'd say hi while I had the chance." Mike said, his cheeks going pink. "Oh shush, you have the chance every day. Youuuu just don't sleep at night." Mika said, rolling her eyes and poking his chest.
Mike really couldn't argue there.
Their attention was caught by the party crowd counting down to midnight.
"10!"
Mika jumped a little at the sound. Mike was almost confused. She was hardly phased by anything that wasn't Bonnie.
"9!"
Mike gently put a hand on her shoulder. "You alright?"
"8!"
Mika looked up at him, staring for a moment before answering. "Oh! Yeah, I'm fine! I guess I just underestimated how loud it'd be."
"7!"
The two softly chuckled as they looked at the TV, waiting for the silver ball to drop.
"6!"
"Not gonna lie, I'm shocked I didnt go home.." Mika softly admitted.
"5!"
"Yeah, the person running this shit isn't exactly great." Mike grumbled.
"4!"
"Shit, you're tellin me." Mika hummed, resting her head on Mike's shoulder.
"3!"
The countdown was almost over. "H-Hey, uh- would you mind if I tried something?" Mike asked.
"2!"
"I'd trust you with my life, honestly. Do whatever you want." Mika answered.
"1!"
Mike hesitated for a moment.
But as soon as the fireworks went off, the duo found themselves in a sweet kiss. It only lasted a few seconds, but Mika seemed to be at a loss for breath afterwards.
"Wow.. I.. th-.. I.. This is the best day of my life.." Mika said, tears running down her face.
