And the DC Line is Finished!

What I’ve learned...
So Simion Says is not the only time Mojo did something to the Narrator. And in the comic, the Powerpuff Girls show the ability to break the 4th Wall. They also get the Narrator to forget the entire story, but this could be a game changer depending on their opponent. If they fight someone who breaks the 4th wall, this could reactivate their reality warping powers. Issue 49, we see the Powerpuff Girls fly to overcome the height limit to ride a rollercoaster. And the Amoeba Boys are fuzing
So far the comics are giving the Amoeba Boys some viable stuff. Issue 50 introduces us to the Powerpunk Girls, the Evil version of the Powerpuffs. Nothing too major to note. We got some unique weapons, powers, Buttercup somehow made a monster out of clay. Issue 56 shows the Powerpuff Girls being DIRTY LIARS!!! They totally love Mojo’s cooking! They were just acting like jerks that one time.
Issue 57 has some neat things going for it. Buttercup punches Fuzzy around the planet. HIM hates people who steal from Charities. And Bellum actually has a grandmother. Issue 59 has the biggest reason I want HIM to be in Death Battle. He basically tortured Mojo because he made fun of him. Spent the entire time making his base fill with lava, even when it was up on a tree. We also got a super lame villain in the Blue Bookman.
So #62 has Morbuck convincing kids to be like her. While the Powerpuff Girls convince the others not to, there is one kid that sticks with it. The Reboot has an episode where Morbucks finds a similar kid. Shame the comic continues to ensure Morbucks stays alone. #63 has Buttercup wanting to deal with a Tentacle Alien by herself. I heard the stories about this situation and I don’t like the implications. And like always, Sedusa does the same thing again and again. If it isn’t Seducing, it's mind controlling. #64, the Amoeba Boys try to convince a kid to jump into an empty swimming pool. Like DUDE!!!
#65 introduces us to the Micro Puffs, basically Mixed Pickles without the powers, I presume. But the real thing to note is when everyone has Sedusa’s hairstyle the girls can’t tell any female apart. Like there’s her figure, the fact she’s wearing skimpy clothing, her skin looking like she bleached it white... I can probably think of 34 different ways to pick Sedusa out from a crowd. Issue 67 brought us the Meat Gun again. And Fuzzy beating the girls in a battle of the bands. It’s just a shame the girls turned it over with a “we totally could have won if we practice” to the audience. And with 69 being the final issue before 70 being a reprint of the first, I’m done with the DC Main Line.
Overall, I thought it was fine. Since the original series usually kept the same formula, there wasn’t much to complain about when it came to continuity. Not like they added new powers or lore. Reading the classic collection to see if there’s anything missing there. The actual first issue. A fun story about the girls trying to draw what they did. The rest of them are reprints in better quality than the original scans. Shame it only gets up to 28
The Cartoon Network Action Pack focuses on the Rowdyruff Boys. Only four issues with them. The first one features the return of Twitchy. Nothing really of note here other than two things: first, industrial salt can remove their Snails (and powers) from them. And the last issue with them has them losing to Cooties despite having their Cootie Shot when they returned.
Nothing really of note from Block Party. They fight, the Micro Puffs make a third and possibly final appearance, and they have a Cell Phone! #31 shows the Mayor at his ABSOLUTE WORST! Not even the Reboot has the Mayor this bad. To be fair, it's thanks to Micro Mayor. #50 shows you just how much Mojo works with the girls. #55 shows you how to make lemonade. So overall thoughts on the DC stuff. They gave the villains a big boost when it comes to Vs Viability. And still, if you like the girls you got more stuff. Shame there are missing issues though. If anyone has them send them my way.
Tumblr media
Best Feat I found...
For me, that’s Buttercup punching Fuzzy so hard he is sent flying around the planet. That’s a crazy feat for strength and Durability.

Next Time...
We continue the comics and see if IDW can keep this streak going.

April 30: 2x17 A Piece of the Action
Today’s ep was A Piece of the Action, one of the greatest of all time. Honestly, as far as feel good episodes in particular go, it’s one of my ultimate faves.
Uhura seems to be having a lot of fun listening to Kirk trying to communicate with this alien.
Yes, Kirk, please explain how it took you a hundred years to get back to this alien society.
I actually like this whole back story a lot. If the Horizon met the Iotians 100 years ago, and the planet is on the edge of the galaxy, it must have been one of the earliest contacts between the Federation and another planet. Or did it even pre-date the Federation? I’m too hungry to try to figure out timelines lol but still, the plot kind of relies on it being an early contact: pre-Non-Interference Director, pre-modern communication methods.
Also just really curious about the Horizon in general. What kind of ship was it? What was it doing out there? What was that first contact with the Iotians like? I do not want subsequent “Star Trek” to explain this to me, I just want to speculate.
Woah who is this guy filling in for Spock? He looks like a Spock impersonator.
Kirk just turns Spock and McCoy around: “We’re beaming down now!” Has to take his BFFs on the mission.
The aliens are SOMEWHAT imitative?? This doesn’t look somewhat to me.
“Home was never like this.” Lol well he’s from Iowa so it’s probably missing some corn fields I guess.
This is clearly an open-carry state. Are they imitating Texas?
Spock is truly not bothered by anything at all. He’s so chill.
Heaters.
Baby blue eyes. McCoy looks so offended at that. It’s a compliment, Bones!
This is a great triumvirate ep because you can see their very different reactions to the whole thing, basically on a spectrum of chill (Spock) to alarmed (McCoy)
“I distill it myself.”
Compared to all these suits, the Starfleet uniforms really look like pajamas.
Ah-ha, Spock has found something interesting!
Published in 1992?! I want one.
AOS Kirk would have actually played pool with this alien gangster.
“This is the contamination, Captain.”
These “fancy heaters” lol.
The way the Iotians interact with the Federation aliens is honestly so interesting to me.
Come on, man, Kirk isn’t an arms dealer.
What’s this? It’s a cell phone, obviously.
What would these aliens do with an iphone? It would probably destroy them.
Oh, Scotty, so confused, trying to keep up with the slang.
I like how the secretary looks up like she can see the ship.
I feel like if you looked up “heater” on the Enterprise language banks, it would not be helpful. Imagine Scotty personally making and the beaming down 100 space heaters.
I love that Kirk knows so much random Chicago history. True Midwestern Boy.
Love those old pinball machines in the back of the room.
Lol Kirk trying to subtly get Spock to shut up and stop being truthful. “Don’t mess this up for me, babe.”
Fizzbin is a true classic moment in television. I love how much fun Kirk is having with it. And Spock nodding along like this makes sense to him. Adorable, supportive boyfriend. Also, I feel like fizzbin is a particularly effective strategy for this culture because they are imitative. A chance to learn a new game?? Amazing.
Kirk is so great in this episode.
“Mr. Spock--Mr. Spock? What are you doing on this frequency?” He’s on it because he finally figured out how to work the primitive radio.
I feel like real Chicago gangsters didn’t have “Boss” engraved on plaques next to their front doors.
“I never been arrested my whole life!”
“How’d you get back up there?” Lol. Well at least he remembered Spock was supposed to be a hostage.
“Why would he put a bag on our Captain?”
I realize that it is correct to refer to the gangster aliens as indigenous but it still amuses me.
Kirk is going to save himself while Spock is working on saving him. My boy is so smart!
“Ship’s log. Incredible as it seems, Dr. McCoy and I have been fooled again.”
You can tell Spock is trying super hard not to laugh here. His lips in that very thin line.
Kirk saves the day again!
It’s hilarious to me that in the time Kirk was kidnapped and escaped, Spock and McCoy got all the way up to the Enterprise and then all the way back down.
“I admit logic won’t work here, so let’s go wild with some cosplay instead.”
I love that Kirk canonically cannot drive and I think about this EVERY time he’s forced onto a motorcycle in AOS.
TOS Kirk has never been on a motorcycle in his life. But TOS Sarek definitely does own one.
But CPine would look good in this blue gangster suit.
AOS Kirk can’t drive stick any more than TOS Kirk can but he would be way more confident about thinking he can.
Spock is definitely going to veto Kirk buying an old car.
“I’m calling you a babe.”
Wow but I love Kirk and Spock and their adopted alien son. This kid is smart and bold; he is a good K/S surrogate child. And I definitely appreciate that when he calls for “daddy” two men show up.
I am now going to refer to the Federation exclusively as “the Feds.”
Kirk is having so much fun with this whole thing and I love that for him. “The whole ball of wax.” “Sawbones.” “Spocko.” The exaggerated accent.
And Spock is... just trying his best. I love this nerd. He wants to play but he’s just not got the hang of it.
Scotty and Uhura just hanging out, as they do. She definitely gets what Kirk is doing before Scotty does.
Scotty’s so proud of the term “concrete galoshes.” Well, close but no cigar.
Honestly I really want to know what the cars on Vulcan look like.
Kirk calling Scotty “baby” and “sweetheart.” Confirmed space bi.
Even Spock is getting into it. He even said “You’s.”
I have PTSD from the phrase “run government like a business.”
Spock and Bones are definitely Kirk’s boys.
“Now we have hostages again.” There’s something legit hilarious to me about that line.
“Isn’t that logical?” He hopes he’s pleased his space husband.
Is it really fair to say that the mobs are a criminal organization when, as far as we know or have seen, there is no actual government? Like what laws are they breaking?
Don’t at me about the paternalism of using the Feds’ “cut” to somehow inch the Iotians away from mob governance.
That ending with McCoy and the communicator was great lol. The image of the imitative Iotians taking apart the communicator and just going to town makes me happy.
I’m quite serious when I say I want this ep rebooted with the AOS cast for the costumes alone, as compensation for having to sit through yet another film about Khan.
Also I really love these aliens. They might be among my favorite aliens. I just like how they attach themselves to things they find interesting and then make them the centerpiece of their culture. Like, what were they doing before the gangster thing? Besides farming?
Also I love how they have no problem at all with the aliens showing up in their big ass space ship. They just think ‘oh, maybe they’ll give us stuff, like last time.’ I kinda feel like they weren’t weirded out by the Horizon, either. They know what they’re about.
My new stance on Kirk and cars is that probably, being from Iowa, he can drive, just not stick, but since he’s lived in San Francisco and space his entire adult life, he probably hasn’t driven since he was 18. Thus why he thinks he’s better at this than he is.
Spock has never been behind the wheel of anything, ever, though, in either universe.
Next up is The Immunity Syndrome. The only thing I remember about this is that all the Vulcans on the Intrepid die. And I think it’s the one where Spock flies a little ship into the amoeba and Kirk and McCoy rescue him? In other words, I remember the beginning in and the end, and nothing in the middle. So, should be fun!

May 10: 2x18 The Immunity Syndrome
Finally another TOS episode. I missed it. I miss Star Trek in general, I need to... get back into obsessing about it on the regular. It makes me so happy but I haven’t had room in my brain for it lately.
Anyway, I didn’t remember too much about this ep until halfway through, but I enjoyed it a lot!
Hilarious to me that as Kirk says “Some lovely...planet” he’s obviously supposed to be looking at the pretty woman who passes by his line of sight, but the camera also takes that moment to pan out far enough to show Spock for the first time. Who is implying what??
Poor Spock... The Intrepid dying was the thing I remembered most about this ep, because, like, obviously, a whole group of Vulcans on a ship. But this is such a sad moment. But at least his best friends come to see if he’s okay.
Lol Kirk, when has there EVER been another starship in the area? I feel bad for the crew; their vacation has officially been cancelled.
The space amoeba was hungry.
“A deep understanding of the way things happen to Vulcans.” I really like that. I like this whole Spock and McCoy conversation.
Also, damn Spock. I feel like he read not just McCoy but the whole human race. But also like what a hypocrite, because the Vulcans were pretty violent.
Kirk’s thinking face. Like the human embodiment of the thinking emoji.
I feel like this ep is inspired by people’s curiosity about black holes in the 60′s.
Mccoy’s go-to is always the stimulants. That should solve everyone’s problems.
“You’re the science officer! Do the science!” Basically an exact quote.
Star Trek Into Darkness
Oh no, they’re penetrating the Zone.
“The stars are...gone.” Whoops, guess we’ll have to rename it “Trek.”
“Kindly tell me what happened to the stars! How can I have a romantic nights on the observation deck if there aren’t any stars, tell me that, Mr. Spock?”
Is this one of those eps where Kirk pushes himself too hard, and everyone else, too?
“Are you trying to be funny, Mr. Spock?” I mean like in his defense, that was pretty funny. An also, Spock definitely knew it was.
“I recommend survival.” That’s it, put Bones on t100 now.
I’m sorry, but how do people not love and respect Kirk? He just wants to explore, he is so brave, and he always knows what to do.
Drink every time someone says “unknown.”
I feel like Spock is the only one not bothered by all this.
“If it went against the rules of logic [to do everything opposite], would Spock suggest it?”
Also love that Kirk’s like ‘well worst case scenario, it doesn’t work, and I can use this incident to make fun of Spock until our inevitable oncoming death!’
Bones has been hitting the stimulants pretty heavy, I see.
And Spock stays behind for a moment alone with Jim...
I love this take on Vulcans!! They have never been conquered. They don’t understand facing the unknown. At the end, they felt astonishment.
This acting is amazing. Make me believe you’re being thrown about bbs!
Oh, no, it’s like a virus... I don’t like that one bit.
Kirk’s like “I remember my biology. The biology... of Vulcans, right Mr. Spock?”
It devoured the Intrepid extra fast because it was hungry.
Oh no, Spock and McCoy are having a martyr-off. And insulting Jim’s science skills too lol. “Stay out of this, yellow shirt.”
Oh I remember this now. Kirk has to choose between his two bros.
“I have two science personnel in front of me, but only one photo in my hands.”
This is absolutely a classic reality tv show style fake out. “I’m sorry, Mr. Spock... you’re going on the death mission.”
Spock’s shade as they’re walking down the hall. “Sorry I’m better than you at everything, Dr.”
This Spock & McCoy scene too!! How McCoy should wish him luck. Let me have my Vulcan dignity. And then he does wish him luck but only when Spock has left... They’re both so savage here but I guess they’re both stressed out and tired. And Spock’s in mourning too. This is like Spones Unfiltered.
“And Dr. McCoy... you would not have survived it.” Why does that hit me so hard?
“He’s kicked it in the side to let us know!”
Destroy! That! Organism!
Spock getting a jab in at McCoy even now: “You should have wished me luck.”
Attack! The! Germ!
That beastie.
This score is going so hard.
The amoeba would just like phasers. Lots of energy. Yum yum.
Lol I thought Spock was going to dictate an actual will but he was just being extra. I mean... he does have a lot of property.
I love that Kirk asked for one tractor beam and Scotty was like “I think that’s a bad idea” and Kirk’s like “okay TWO tractor beams.” He’s going to save his space husband, Scotty, it’s not negotiable.
Captain McCoy. So sassy.
The power levels are dead, Jim.
Spock is bringing back data for McCoy as a gift! How sweet.
How does McCoy know he messed up the tests?
“Some..lovely planet.” For real this time.
Okay, that was a great episode and I really enjoyed the whole thing: the concept of the giant space cell virus, the Enterprise then becoming a sort of virus itself to destroy it, Kirk’s excellent leadership abilities, the triumvirate scenes and especially the Spock and Bones relationship, the reference to the Vulcan ship--but it did not stick the landing. We didn’t get to see Spock return? More importantly, we didn’t get to see Kirk totally collapse from the stimulants? Okay, maybe that would have been bad. Bb can make it to Starbase 6. I just didn’t want it to end I guess.
I feel like Spock was especially savage today but then it also makes sense. He was probably as drained as everyone else. Plus, I think losing the Intrepid must have been very difficult for him. Like he told McCoy, he felt all of it. Poor Vulcan as a whole; that’s a lot of people. Also, I suspect, based on their pacifism and also how upset Sarek was about Spock joining Starfleet, that they are probably underrepresented generally in the service. That was probably the only all-Vulcan constitution class vessel in Starfleet. And you know Spock knew some of them personally.
Anyway now that I’m thinking about the Intrepid... I so desperately want to know what an all-Vulcan ship would be like. Just 400 Vulcans. At first I suggested they had a meditation room but that’s too private an activity. They probably do a lot of jamming out in their rec room. Also all their cabins must be extremely decadent.
Current plan is to watch another episode on Thursday to make up for missing last week, but the next one is A Private Little War, which is just so depressing so... we’ll see.
