There's a widely accepted idea that one must be at least forty to start studying Kabbalah. It's something that, yes, some people take very seriously. But not everyone is that strict about it, it's kind of complex. And the fact one of, if not the, greatest scholars of Kabbalah - the Ari, Rabbi Yitzchak Luria - died before he got forty doesn't help much. Neither does the fact Chabadniks like to claim that all the stuff their rabbis saud discussing deep topics of Kabbalah are actually Hasidut, no Kabbalah.
So yeah. If you're not forty, some people would give you odd looks if they hear you study Kabbalah. As long as you're grounded in Nigleh while studying and accompanied by a rabbi that know what they're talking about I suppose you are fine, though - it depends on a lot of variables, though, especially about your surroundings.
I would've also wanted to talk about popular internet Kabbalists who like to syncretize Kabbalah with magic and paganism, but that's not really the place for that.
ngl i find it so weird that kabbalahistic literature is considered this really serious “must read the ENTIRE TORAH 300 TIMES to even under the BASICS” sorta thing
like literally any other jews ive ever talked about Kabbalah with says that and it confuses me as someone who’s been hyperfixcated on this shit since i was a young teen
like yes it’s serious and requires a lot of basic knowledge on the Torah to even understand certain aspects but every time im told im too young to be looking into it im just kinda like ????
