~~ Magnolia Benson ~~

☾ - Sleep Headcanon

Magnolia is the sort who wants to make the most of her day, so for the longest time, she was a fairly early riser - eager to get her chores done, so she could head out into the bustling city for the day.

That is, unless writing inspiration strikes, she gets caught up in a good book, or ends up spending all evening out on some adventurous excursion with Jacob.

If she gets caught up in any of the above, she can sometimes be up until nearly dawn - resulting in her getting very little sleep and being grouchy and groggy during her morning routine, or sleeping in and missing out on helping to make and serve breakfast for her family’s lodgers - much to the annoyance of certain people, both in and outside of the family.

♦ - Quirks/Hobbies Headcanon

In terms of hobbies, one I haven’t spoke much about is the ones she sometimes engages with her two sisters - in this case, recreational sports. If the trio has time, they’ll engage in a game of croquet or badminton - with Magnolia having a particular fondness for the latter, due to the speed and competitive nature of it. (Which of course meant that once it was introduced in England a few years later, she took up tennis, as well.)

♒ - Cooking/Food Headcanon 

Food is Magnolia’s prime ‘love language’ - not only romantically, but also platonically. It just her way of showing she cares. So, it’s not uncommon to witness her taking any leftovers from a meal she cooked or a batch of slightly over-baked bread or biscuits/cookies and hand them out to some of the less fortunate families she knows in the district - and if she knows the families have children, she’ll even dip into her precious butterscotch candy collection to hand a few out as an extra treat.

~~ Félicité du Pont ~~

☾ - Sleep Headcanon

When Félicité was a teenager living in her parents’ cottage in Saint-Lambert, it was not unusual to see her sometimes sleeping in the stable during a thunderstorm to comfort the horses and other livestock. This was a habit that followed her into adulthood, though living in her Grandfather’s house made it much more difficult, as she’d be sent back to her room if she was caught roaming outside at night. (”It’s not safe for a girl to be out and about at night” yadda, yadda, yadda) She still managed to sneak out every now and then, though, much to both hers and the horses’ delight. She almost doesn’t care if she gets a tongue lashing the next morning at breakfast for smelling like a stable; she was able to bring her horse(s) some peace of mind, and that’s more than worth it.

♦ - Quirks/Hobbies Headcanon

In terms of quirks, Félicité unironically talks to flowers and plants. She doesn’t care if her cousins think it’s silly, she believes it actually helps. (And given how well her flowers usually grow, some more superstitious folk argue is truly does.) Even Arno initially found this a bit peculiar when they first met, but over time, found it to be a rather endearing trait.

♒ - Cooking/Food Headcanon

While cooking has never been Félicité’s strongest skill or passion, she still enjoys being in the kitchen sometimes - especially sitting by the hearth - just for the cozy atmosphere. That doesn’t mean she just sits around and does nothing all the time, though, she tries to help wherever she can. Although, her favorite thing to do in there is help with decorating the baked goods and desserts, using her artistic skill and the flowers from the Café’s garden to create both simple and elaborate designs - depending on the occasion.
