Bio

Hazel was born in Perth (Australia) to Indian immigrant parents. She's the second child of the family. She grew up middle class with an engineer mother and a university teacher father. She had a comfortable life and went to private schools. It is where she grew envious of the children of wealthier family. She never lacked anything and had a great life but she always wanted more. She knew she was destined for something bigger.

After graduating high school, she moved to Sydney to start an acting and modelling career. She got a few jobs in commercials and catalogues. She even starred as an extra or a tiny role in a few soaps, shows and films but nothing big. She never got cast in anything important. Still she knew she would make it somehow so she persevered.

Until her father got into an accident. She agreed to move back to Perth to help her mother take care of him since her career was not going anywhere. After her father got better, she wanted to move again but covid hit, stopping her. After the pandemic, she had lost her momentum and decided to quit acting to become an influencer or a singer.

Hazel worked in Louis Vuitton's shop in Perth before being picked to be a spice girl. She spent all day serving the clients she wished she could be. On her freetime, she posted videos and sang at luxurious venues. She was building followers and she kept hoping to be the next big thing. One evening, she was singing at Perth's Ritz-Carlton when a producer noticed her. That was her big break. Six months later she became a superstar.

After this, it was discovered that Katie had Perthes disease and had to undergo surgery to fix the issue. Through doing this, her parents set up a GoFundMe where @elegantvibrancy started to donate.

Mackenzie was a dancer at the time and had heard of Katie's story and decided to donate a large sum of money. Katie got the surgery she needed and from then, the two stayed in touch. Katie then moved from Florida to Seattle at the age of 16 - almost 17 - in order to be closer to Mackenzie who had stayed in touch with her through the entire recovery. They became best friends and shortly after Katie opened her own dance studio, the two began dating.

They had only been together for a few months now, but Katie was cray about Mackenzie. Recently, Mackenzie had signed a contract to begin releasing her own music and Katie was so proud of her. She decided to surprise her, so she had spent the entire day decorating her house with party streamers, banners, balloons and other decorations. Her parents helped and then Katie drove over to Mackenzie's house to pick her up. Mackenzie had no idea what Katie had been up to and thought they were just meeting to spend time together. Katie had bigger plans. She wanted to celebrate her girlfriend's success.

History:

Lily grew up in Perth, Western Australia with her mother, father and younger brother. She grew up speaking English with a touch of Korean. She attended a Catholic private school, and passed with flying colours. Growing up, she trained in classical voice, and musical theatre, plus contemporary and hip-hop dancing. She was introduced to K-pop through the music her dance studio used to play. She auditioned for JYP entertainment in the 2016 global auditions as part of her ambition to do something with her singing and dancing skills and got accepted as a trainee. She moved to Korea by herself when she was 16 years old, knowing little Korean (a bit better than Felix, but not by much though she eventually became fluent). Felix had only been at JYP for a short amount of time, but he heard of another Australian trainee and met her. He recognised her talent at singing and dancing and suggested her to Chan, who after some discussion with JYP decided it would be good for the team. She was in danger of being eliminated in the survival show, but was never officially eliminated. She debuted with the group under Vocalracha, though she is involved with Danceracha.

International!Sunset Curve

an eye-opening discussion with @futurearchaeologyprof has lead me to write this because Irish!Luke is something I need, but then I learned that Mercer is a Scottish surname, and then the rest fell out like the shelf that fell on my head back in January

Sunset Curve all meet in college

They're all attending The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts

The songwriting and performance BA program to be specific

Alex is from Perth, Scotland

his parents are rich rich and paying for his college

so he's not coming out to them anytime soon

He's also got the devastatingly heavy accent and really only Luke can understand him because

Luke's from Shannon, Ireland

It's a small town so leaving home wasn't much of an option until college

but as soon as he turned 18 he was out of there

Luke and Alex are roommates and at first they don't really like each other

Alex drags Luke home from one too many parties where he's absolutely shitfaced

and then finally its Luke who's dragging Alex home

and Luke's all like "this how ya feel when you're draggin me home?"

Alex is only fucked up because his parents are trying to set him up with the daughter of a family friend back home

and he comes out to Luke whos just like "oh cool"

They meet Bobby a few days later

Bobby's a local boy whos still living with his parents

literally a British fuckin stereotype stuffed into a boy

Bobby introduces them to Reggie

whos as Texan as Texans come

As in grew up on a ranch, southern drawl and all

He also shreds on the banjo

It is hilarious watching them all interact because none of them have the same linguistics and its like they have this own little language within the group

out of all 4 of them, Alex curses the most, then Bobby, then Luke, and Reggie the least

And because Scottish Gaelic and Irish Gaelic are so similar, when Alex does curse he only really does it in Scottish Gaelic

Luke's the only one who understands it and refuses to translate for the boys because

"You should never hear the words that comes out of that boys mouth. Sounds like a sailor perched in a pub"

Luke does the same thing, but tends to dance around cursing with made up words and phrases

Bobby's pretty tame but can let loose at literally any second

Reggie uses southern slang and confuses the FUCK out of the Europeans

it could be dead silent and suddenly he'd say something "You know my Uncle Steven is slicker than pig snot on a radiator but his wife'll be happier than a tick on a fat dog when he kicks the bucket"

And they're all just like "What in the fuck did he just say??"

for one of their projects, its pretty much "group up and write three songs to perform for the class"

You know that moment in class when the teacher says "get into a group/with a partner" and you and your best friend immediately look at each other?

yeah that's this moment

they come up with the name of the band during an argument over the perfect example of a curve

"a bloody sunset" Bobby rolls his eyes

Alex launches himself forward and just yells "The curve of a sunset doesn't fuckin' exist ya fuckin' idiot! It's a fuckin' semi-circle!"

turns out they didn't actually have to name their band

But their songs are fucking amazing

and their teacher is like "you NEED to perform these"

except Alex, who is just praying his parents don't see this or else he'll be faced with a dozen questions because that's how Christian/Catholic parents are, nosy as hell and way too involved in their children's personal lives

obviously it gets out there and blows the fuck up

and they finally get their shit together and decide to actually form their band

thats all I really have but I love the concept of "none of us have the same dialects but we really like each other so we'll make it work"

The Word Of Your Body Duet (Roland x Rin Davies)

A/N: Everyone has their secrets, but sometimes we need someone to share them with. Roland just chooses his last night to let Rin in on his. This is a follow-up to Songbird

Roland sat on the edge of Rin's bed while she paced back and forth anxiously in front of him. Since he came over earlier in the evening, they only managed to kiss until their lips swelled. Rin had taken her gloves off, but refused to touch Roland anywhere with bare skin.

“I don't understand. You said I do nothing to ye?”

“You-you don't,” Rin stuttered. “At least not normally. This isn’t normal, Roland. We've known each other for over a year, and until yesterday neither of us have given any inkling that we are attracted to each other. I mean who wouldn't be attracted to you? Look at you, you're terribly handsome.”

Roland cocked an eyebrow, “Handsome in a terrible way. I'll admit t’the terrible part. I can be a bit..”

“Of a twat?”

“Much. It's the handsome part I don't know I’d agree with. There's not exactly a line around the block.”

“I just don't like surprises. I've had things happen.. To me. I can't take that again.”

Roland reached out and hooked his fingers in the belt loops of Rin’s jeans. He drew her down into his lap, his arms held her in place.

“First you’re giving me motion sickness watching all that back and forth. Second will ye just bloody touch me?! Anywhere, you'll see something I've never told anyone at this school. Not that I have friends besides you.”

Rin’s heart fell. That really couldn't be the truth? Roland wasn't all that bad, he was just a little.. blunt. Not that she had friends, present company aside. It was difficult for Rin to get close with anyone in case their true personalities showed through. She had a knack for telling people their feelings before they were even ready.

“What if I don't like what I see?”

“It's nothing that salacious. Just a wee bit I suppose,” there was a shrug in his shoulder. “If ye don't like it, ye never have t’see me again.”

“Why do you keep saying that like another semester won't roll around?”

“I'm moving to Perth,” he said matter of fact.

“AUSTRALIA?!” Rin was gobsmacked.

“Jupiter!” Roland gave a mock surprised face that teased the girl on his lap.

Rin shoved Roland somewhere between serious and playful. “Oh don't be a bastard!”

“I can't be one! My parents were married!” his brows furrowed in fake consternation. “As far as I know at least?” He stroked his chin in deep thought.

“Can you ever talk without sarcasm or snark?!”

“I'm like Tinkerbell, but I must be acerbic to live!”

Rin’s eyes nearly rolled back in her head. The banter was so natural between them. In that weird way you never notice how much you want or need someone until they won't be there tomorrow. She became instantly pained. Rin had never felt as at-ease with anyone, sharing her secrets and her songs as openly as she did with Roland.

Now her voice was soft and sad, “What's in Oz you can't find here?”

“They offered me a place at their sister conservancy. I've got family over there too. What's left of them.”

Roland nudged his nose against Rin’s. He nuzzled downwards and along her cheek. Taking a chance in kissing her once more where his nose had been. He let his lips linger on her skin, so she knew he would be an open book if she wanted. Even if it was just a day or so before he left her.

Rin draped her arms around Roland’s shoulders before kissing him again. There was a heat, that taste of smoke. Of trailers and RVs all parked together around campfires and music. Then a spice of peppers as his tongue overpowered hers. His kisses taste like Travellers, once called Gypsy.

Roland’s mouth was hungry for her as he awkwardly reached for the hem of her shirt. Desperate to feel Rin, she could tell. All of her. There was nothing sinister about his intentions. Just fiddles and drums and whiskey.

In a blur of laughter and limbs, Rin and Roland clambered to their feet to strip down to their underwear. She flattened her scarred hands on his chest. For someone who could see into someone's mind or emotions, how did Rin miss his olive skin? Those subtle differences that would've given him such grief if others knew.

Rin said it out loud in the sudden quiet. only Roland’s wild heartbeat under her fingers and heavy breath that builds. “You're a gypsy.”

Her eyes focused on his body. An ache between her thighs as she glanced down at the erection inside of his boxers. He wasn't embarrassed. In fact, he was quite confident for Roland at this moment.

Roland’s hands were in Rin’s hair. Entangled so that they tugged her head upwards with a pleasurable pain. She was forced to meet his eyes as he leaned down to mesh his mouth with hers again. His tongue darted in swiftly before she reciprocated. He let his hands stray down over her body to the hook of her bra where he fumbled but only briefly before it came free.

“Not anymore,” Roland’s voice thick.

“I'm sorry. Traveller?” Rin was apologetic.

Her hips involuntarily pushed into his as she lightly brushed her fingers down his body. They traced around his waist to the small of his back. That dip just above the band of his boxers.

“No, I mean I'm not a Traveller or a gypsy anymore. Best assimilate with the other gorja. Being “normal” has made everything easier.”

There was a sadness now in Roland's flesh. It flowed just underneath the surface as Rin embraced him. Her experience with tents and churches and people “speaking in tongues” as her parents forced her to perform “miracles” on blind faith punters bubbled over her surface and spread to Roland’s.

“Wren. It wasn't like that. I'm sad because I miss them. I'm ashamed of turning my back on the people who raised me. That's where I fell in love with music. C’mon you’re ruining our last night!”

Roland let go and laid on the bed with his back to the wall. He propped himself up on his elbow and tapped the bed a few times. “Let me take care of you?” An eyebrow arched suggestively.

“You know what you're doing?”

Still, Rin laid down beside Roland on her back. He bent forward with a hand on her neck and pecked her lips softly. Once. Twice, before she opened her mouth and welcomed his tongue. They mingled and danced with each other as Rin slipped her hand inside the fly of Roland’s boxers so she could trace her fingers along his erection.

There was a sharp intake of breath as Roland’s stomach contracted at her touch. Rin knew it was more of a delighted surprise as her hand now curled around the shaft and began to stroke back and forth. Her fingertips worked up a friction as he finally exhaled heavily into her. Then, with just a moment’s hesitation, palmed her between the legs.

By first year's end, gifted students like him were set up with mentors. Someone who had been around the program for a few years. She was pretty with soul piercing blue eyes and jet black hair. Roland was smitten.

Unused to outsiders who moved kind of slow compared to Traveller girls who weren't afforded time. They married by 17 or 18; his own mother was only 33 years old while Roland was 18. Yet in his culture, sex before marriage was unheard of. They dated in large chaperoned groups, and being alone with a woman was forbidden until marriage. His mentor took advantage of that. Of him.

It started the way some flings do, innocent flirting. Then one day as they sat side by side on the piano bench, she stopped playing and made a pattern of nothing on Roland’s thigh. “I don't know if you should be. I'm not exactly chuffed with myself half days, imagine me as a mum. With my,” she held her hands aloft. Roland kissed them.

“Then you're meant for so much more.” It was a whisper as he sunk inside of his friend.

Rin’s breath caught in her throat for the hundredth time that evening. She held Roland as he moved in her the same way his fingers had. Her hands splayed along his shoulders as they found a cadence; silent except for their breathing. Roland’s heavy. Rin's airy as she realized a little more about him.

She was married. With a little girl about 7 or 8. Roland knew her husband as the head of the classical music department. Roland’s department. He listened as they talked about him like an art exhibit instead of a human. technique not passion.

But the husband found out, and Roland was placed in the folk music program. It just made him heart sick for Ireland and caravans and Sunday night cèilidh. How he couldn't go back, but she had stopped him from moving forward. Folk music, HIS music, required love and emotion and Roland had been told he was only good for the technical.

Then he did something he hadn't done since he was 3 or 4, Roland just stopped. He'd play something that was mechanical and cold and hard like he would become. Even if Rin had changed his view these past few months.

Rin loved Roland in that moment as he rocked harder and faster. And he loved her. It wasn't the romantic kind; that was ok too. Sometimes you just need a partner to play music with.

I love everyone’s different takes on the au skeletons, especially underfell. >w> I was wondering what your underfellas, Vex and Red, are like! Just a little bit about them if you’re free for some skeledude asks.~ How they are personality wise or some of their hobbies?

Ohoho, what excellent taste, and what good energy I can’t resist! :Dc

So Vex and Red have always been an inseparable team; with the exception of Vex in his teen-equivalent years when things were pretty rocky, given Red was in his 20s-equivalent, it’s been universally understood that you mess with one of them, you mess with both of them.

That doesn’t change when they get to the surface, buuut it does take a couple of years of reluctantly-agreed-to mandatory therapy for all monsterkind as part of integration for them to make that brotherly bond a bit healthier. Wartime mindsets might make for tight bonds when they are forged, but it doesn’t necessarily make for healthy habits, oops. Nevertheless, they’re on the mend, with less shouting and more brotherly good-natured bastardry in their teasing these days, and generally at least one meal a day eaten together (frequently dinner, which also features them watching videos/shows together. They are unsurprisingly, hilariously opinionated, and a good, raucous time is had - be prepared for anything but quiet time if you ever watch anything with one or both of them, that’s for sure).

Vex is a bit of a perfectionist, to say the least! He expects only the best of himself - and those around him, if they’re working together in any way - and it’s shone through in his choice of Surface Career: he’s an Independent Journalist!

True to Pap-type form he’s an extrovert and enjoys the challenge of a puzzle, on top of having significant literary interest. Sure, he remained working for the Guard in the transition years during surfacing, but he found his interest continually turning towards the investigative aspects of the work on the Surface; finding questions or problems, and digging and researching and making contacts and figuring out what was going on - and sharing it.

Nowadays, besides having a very active online presence, he’s a major contributor to several newspapers, has had articles and pieces published in everything from NatGeo to the biggest papers in major national & international papers, runs his own investigative interest podcast, and co-hosts a more cultural-but-news-angle podcast (along with the Ambassador, of course, and another close friend he’s made~). He’s currently working on an in-depth book that’s covering the multi-year process of the Surfacing and Integration with humans - from an inside & monster perspective, no less.

When he’s not busy with that, he actually really loves traveling, keeping up his sparring skills with Undyne (he’s a frequent guest teacher at her martial arts gym), gardening, watching cooking shows, and, secretly, learning how to ballroom dance. :)c

He’s also addicted to coffee, white mochas in particular, but if you’re close enough friends with him to get to go to weekend brunch at his place when he’s not traveling for work, you’ll know he makes the best freaking mimosa you’ve ever had.

Red, a little reluctantly, was part of the more informal fringes of the Guard effort during transition; he tended more towards intel, while fronting like he was just extra (figurative) muscle. Which, of course, he was that too, heh.

He couldn’t be more pleased when the integration efforts were more or less complete - the main brunt of it, anyways, and promptly turned down the offer for more work and an even bigger paycheck. He and Vex had secured/built their own place by then, after all - he wasn’t that kinda greedy, and was looking forward to doing his own thing... whatever that was.

And frankly, he still doesn’t know! And he kinda likes it like that.

His ‘day job’, technically, is as a mechanic; he works afternoons on the mechanic equivalent of commissions, modding and repairing alike. It’s hands on, dirty, and lets him tap into his considerable smarts regarding machinery. Plus, there’s no shortage of people that want a taste of the blossoming magi-tech industry, especially with shady-but-not-illegal mods on their vehicles. He charges a decent amount, but he’s got a rep among those that matter as being the best in the damn business.

Beyond that, he does odd jobs and seemingly random hobbies. He’s moonlit as a bouncer for his Grillby’s new establishment(s), of course, as well as a bartender for him too. Talk about a deft hand with a good cocktail, and an even better judge of just what kinda taste you have for a drink, heh! He’s also helped his bro with some investigative work now and then - shadier places that Red’s got better access to, and so on - done some music & studio work, and, on one more recent occasion, was finally cajoled into being the narrator for a short audiobook published by a friend.

(He put up a lot of gruff, but found he actually enjoyed the work - he’s considering more voiceover work... maybe.....)

His main hobby, honestly, is just trying out whatever odd job strikes him as interesting. Some he comes back to, some he tosses to the bin (so long, singular day stint into professional baking. He’ll stick to his secret quiches and so on on his downtime, thanks).

The other big one is proving to be music - he’s partial towards the bass and the drums, but has been putting together some one-off songs and EPs where he plays all the instruments (and does any vocals) - he’s in the middle of maybe establishing a band, as the frontman of course (ice wolf, another monster, and one human girl who is particularly killer on the drums are the potential others)- besides already doing the one-off gigs and drawing a crowd at the occasional enjoyable karaoke night at a bar.

He’s also started to develop quite the record collection, and is actually really good at taking proper care of them, and doing a bit of old-school record jockeying... if he feels like it. ;D

(If you know the differences between regional varieties, then for the record: Glaswegian would be their ‘home’ accent, but Vex [when he was younger, aiming for the top/high society/Royal Guard Captain status, etc] puts on an Ediburgh affect until he’s relaxed/too pissed and goes hardcore Glaswegian, while Red, who went to extensive schooling in ‘high society’ as it were and hated the affectations and snobbery, actually slips into the Ediburgh accent - with a bit of a Perth-y flavor - when he’s tired/relaxed/getting a bit nerdy/focused despite himself. >:3c)

(bonus ref: Rory McCann-esque for Red’s everyday Glaswegian accent, slipping into something akin to Alan Cumming in the nerdy/chill mode; meanwhile, Vex is David Tennant-esque, in range from David-Tennant-as-Glaswegian to David-Tennant-as-normal (which is Edinburgh side of things, though just a hitch different. Also, infinite thanks to @thighsofthistle for helping me iron out the differences/choices ;Dc).
