Pastor diz que as mulheres nunca devem ser autorizadas a ensinar nas igrejas

John Piper é um autor respeitado e professor de Bíblia, e inúmeros cristãos-incluindo muitos pentecostais e carismáticos, têm sido abençoados por sua influência. Por mais de 30 anos, ele pastoreou Igreja Batista Bethlehem em Minneapolis, e agora, aos 72 anos, ele continua a espalhar o evangelho através de seus livros e seu website Desiring God.

Mas um par de semanas atrás, o pregador calvinista despertou um ninho de vespas, quando disse em seu podcast de “Ask Pastor John” que as mulheres nunca devem ser autorizados a ensinar aulas do seminário. Piper disse: “Se é antibíblico ter mulheres como pastores, como pode ser bíblica de ter as mulheres que funcionam no ensino formal e mentoring capacidades para treinar e pastores apto para o muito chamando a partir do qual os mentores em si são excluídos?”

Quem conhece o passado de Piper não teria sido chocado que ele disse isso. Ele é um complementarista estrito, o que significa que ele acredita que só os homens podem ensinar e liderar na igreja e que as mulheres devem segui-los supportively. A maioria dos calvinistas, por definição, partilham desta opinião. No mundo do Cristianismo Reformado, as mulheres concordaram em ter um assento traseiro.

Eu certamente apoiar o direito da Piper para segurar o que ele vê como uma fiel interpretação das Escrituras. Mas porque ele está injetando suas opiniões para o mainstream, não posso sentar e ignorar a controvérsia quando eu dediquei minha vida a capacitar e apoiar minhas irmãs cristãos que estão no ministério. As palavras de Piper não só insultado as mulheres; Eu acredito que a sua mensagem entristeceu o Espírito Santo e poderia prejudicar seriamente a igreja de hoje de avançar o evangelho.

Como Pentecostal que acredita que os dons do Espírito Santo é dado a todas as pessoas, independentemente de raça, classe, idade ou sexo (ver Atos 2: 17-18) -I acreditam que a discussão atual sobre podcasts Piper fornece a plataforma perfeita para um curso de reciclagem sobre a base bíblica para as mulheres como professores, pregadores e líderes.

O Antigo Testamento sustenta o valor da mulher como professores. Provérbios nos diz que, em uma família, a sabedoria vem de ambos, pai e mãe. “Filho meu, ouve a instrução de teu pai, e não deixes o ensinamento de tua mãe” (Prov. 1: 8). Mas o ensino de uma mãe e influência divina não se restringem à casa. Em Provérbios 8, a sabedoria é personificada como uma mulher pregando nas ruas!

Temos vários exemplos de mulheres que ocupavam cargos de liderança em Israel, incluindo Miriam e Deborah. E vemos também que, quando Israel foi desviado, eo livro da Lei tinha sido esquecido, o rei Josias mandou seus representantes para encontrar uma “profetisa” chamada Hulda (veja 2 Reis 22:14) que entregaram a palavra do Senhor. Numa altura em que até mesmo os sacerdotes tinham caído longe de Deus, essa mulher fiel continuou a ensinar a verdade, e ela não se conteve de falar isso.

Jesus deu às mulheres a sua voz de volta. Jesus ministrou num momento em que as mulheres não tinham direitos. No entanto, Ele elevou as mulheres a uma posição de dignidade, e Ele chegou especialmente aqueles que sofreram como párias sociais e vítimas de abuso. Jesus também reuniu um grupo de mulheres e discipulado-los no momento em que rabinos judeus acreditavam que era errado para ensinar as mulheres a partir da Torá. Ele até mandou a mulher samaritana para pregar a todos os homens da sua aldeia.

E no final, Jesus escolheu uma das suas mulheres seguidores, Maria Madalena, ser o primeiro a proclamar que Ele tinha ressuscitado dos mortos. Eu acredito que ele fez isso para demonstrar que as restrições baseadas em vergonha colocadas sobre as mulheres desde o Jardim do Éden já terminou. O evangelho liberta as mulheres de status de segunda classe. E certamente capacita mulheres para falar por Deus.

Temos exemplos do Novo Testamento de mulheres professoras. Eu não tenho certeza de como John Piper explicaria o ministério de Priscilla, uma vez que vê-la no livro de Atos instruindo o jovem apóstolo chamado Apolo (veja Atos 18: 24-28). Priscilla é a avó de todas as mulheres professores do seminário. Ela e seu marido, Aquilla, viajou com o apóstolo Paulo e ajudou a lançar as bases espirituais da igreja primitiva. Para ignorar o ministério de Priscilla é desonrar a verdadeira mãe da fé.

Piper acredita que só os homens podem ensinar aos homens, especialmente os homens que são chamados a ser pastores. Mas mantendo esta posição que ele desconta o ministério da mulher bíblica como Euodia, Síntique, Chloe, Nympha, Junia e Phoebe, todos os que trabalhou ao lado de Paul. professores calvinistas afirmam ser aplicadores rigorosos das Escrituras, mas eles realmente mostrar uma atitude arrogante para com a Bíblia quando eles minimizar a influência dos heróis do sexo feminino da igreja primitiva.

We cannot use Paul’s words as a universal ban on women teachers. Piper and other complementarians base all their opposition to women teachers on 1 Timothy 2:12, where Paul says he does not allow women to “usurp” a man’s authority. Yet Paul also allowed Priscilla to teach, sent Phoebe as a deacon to Rome (see Romans 16:1-2), and defended the right of Euodia and Syntyche to do ministry work (see Phil. 4:2-4). So obviously what Paul told Timothy was not a universal, all-inclusive directive; he was addressing a specific heresy in the Ephesian church that required swift discipline.

Para todas as minhas irmãs eu digo: Não desanime. Se você sentir o chamado de Deus, e você sabe que o fogo do Espírito Santo está queimando em seu coração, não deixe que os pontos de vista estreitos de alguns cristãos impedi-lo de perseguir seu sonho. Os homens podem procurar limitar e restringir você, mas Deus tem a última palavra. Ele declarou no dia de Pentecostes: “Os vossos filhos e vossas filhas profetizarão” (Atos 2: 17b).
