Can Car Meter Reading Be Misleading?

Car meter reading plays an important role in evaluating the general condition of the automobile. It should be accurate and precise. Faulty odometer reading can become a reason for legal charges. So it is essential to know everything about the function of an odometer, how it works or when it is changed. Getting accurate information will help you protect yourself from any possible issues in the future. Have you ever thought about what factors affect mostly on your decision to buy an automobile? What is your main criterion for determining the lifespan of an automobile? Have you ever found yourself the victim of odometer fraud? I suppose the answers to all the above-mentioned questions are related to mileage-related data and its accuracy.
Let’s get started and find out more about the issues related to the reliability of the odometer. How to read it accurately and when it can be misleading. Keep on reading to learn more.
What is the purpose of car meter reading?

What are other meters and gauges on my dashboard?
Your vehicle has other instruments for measuring purposes. Sometimes the mechanism of working is the same as the odometer. Hence, people confuse them with each other. Let’s name some of the most common and define their functions.
Speedometer. Unlike the odometer that is used to measure the total distance traveled during the car’s lifetime, it is used to keep track of the current speed of the automobile. As usual, drivers keep a close eye on it. It allows them to control the current speed, so it helps them stay safe in particular places where there are speed limits. Hence it plays an important role in everyday driving.
Tachometer. This instrument measures the working speed of the engine, typically in Revolution Per Minute (RPM). RPM measures the number of engine cycles and then indicates the appropriate time to move between speeds. In short, it measures engine running. So, it plays the important role in extending engine lifespan.
AMP meter. Ammeter – An instrument for measuring either direct or alternating electric current, in amperes. Without the charging system, an automobile’s battery will be depleted, causing it to stop running. If it remains full and there is minimal demand, the ammeter should be close to zero.
Accurate odometer reading is key to fleet management
Fleet management is the management of cars, vans, trucks, trailers, private automobiles used for work purposes. It involves a variety of functions such as leasing and financing, maintenance, licensing and compliance. It also involves supply chain management, accident management, telematics (tracking and diagnostics), driver management, speed and fuel management. So, it is an effective instrument for companies to increase efficiency and productivity.
Vehicle odometer reading helps fleet managers to make reasonable decisions related to a car. Those data assist them to determine the right time for maintenance, repair and life cycling. Hence, odometer accuracy is decisive in this case. Those companies use technologies such as GPS and telematics to make sure that car km reading is 100% accurate. Sometimes, those devices are not a proper solution. Drivers are asked to report any error in odometer figures. Most drivers report honestly but there are several cases of possible errors. The reason for them varies. In the following paragraph, I will clarify what can be a reason for messing up your odometer.
Can car meter reading be messed up?
The short answer is – yes. Sometimes drivers spot that their odometers go too fast and it does not show the right mileage. If you suspect that your odometer is unable to record mileage correctly, you should take measures as soon as possible. Because false mileage-related information makes life hard for you. Here are the most common reasons for inaccuracy:
Wrong tire size. As we mentioned, wheel rotation determines the figures on the odometer. If you change tires and they are different from the stock tires and you don’t consider calibration of your odometer, that’s why the odometer works badly.
Kilometers or miles. Sometimes drivers do not take into account that their odometer is calibrated for one particular metric system. It becomes a reason for misreading. For example, if you buy an automobile in the USA, there is a good chance that the odometer shows figures in miles. On the contrary, if you purchase your auto in Europe, an odometer will show kilometers. As we know one mile is equal to1.6 kilometers. Hence, a kilometer is less than one mile, and if the odometer counts kilometers, it seems to run faster. All you need to do is to identify the metric system.
A broken odometer. Another simple and logical reason why your odometer does not work properly is that it is broken and needs repair or replacement.
Is it possible to change the car odometer reading on purpose?
Yes. Nowadays it is surely possible and common practice among motorists for a variety of reasons. Needless to say, it is illegal to reverse mileage. The main function of this manipulation is to alter mileage-related information on high-mileage automobiles to increase their value. NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) estimates that more than 450,000 vehicles are sold each year with false odometer readings. This crime costs American car buyers more than $1 billion annually.
Organizations that roll back and wholesale to dealers practice odometer fraud. In most cases, people do it for personal gain.
Manipulating a mechanical odometer was done manually in the past. As for digital odometers, it’s necessary to remove the automobile circuit board or use various kinds of rollback devices that are available on the market. However, all mileage correction tools have the same mechanism. They allow you to adjust figures at your will. But the point is that the mileage-related data stays the same in the vehicle’s internal computer. Anyone who makes an effort can discover a clocked odometer.

How to protect yourself from odometer fraud
Due to the car odometer reading importance for buying a preowned car, it is essential to know how to spot and check odometer tampering. To put it simply, you have a choice: trust your intuition and senses or use more comprehensive methods. Consider the following tips to avoid becoming the victim of odometer fraud:
Examine wear and tear. If you can examine the automobile, do it yourself. If you are not sure, take the automobile to a mechanic, who knows better. For example, if the odometer says 20,000 miles and has new parts which are not necessary until 60,000 miles, you have a reason to suspect.
Check maintenance records. Ask for inspection stickers and compare them to the vehicle odometer reading.
See original title. Ask the seller to show you the original title. It’s the seller’s duty to write in the mileage from the odometer on the title when selling the automobile.
Request a vehicle history report. It’s one of the most convenient solutions. All you will need is a VIN code and you can order the history report online.
Takeaway
All in all, you already know how crucial is car km reading. However, it can sometimes be misleading. Various factors cause the inaccuracy of the odometer. In most cases, people use mileage correction devices to alter mileage-related data for a variety of reasons. The main reason is to attract potential buyers and increase the value of the automobile. When buying a used automobile, do your research as long as it is possible. It will avoid possible future issues. Good luck!

Why Do They Call it a Dashboard? (Instrument Panel Warning Lights)
Ever wonder where they came up with the term "dashboard" for that part of your vehicle that sits behind the steering wheel?
That name began back before cars were even invented. People used to travel by horse and buggy, and streets weren't as well built as they are today. On a muddy road (which was sometimes just a couple of ruts alongside a field), it wasn't unusual for those inside the buggy to have mud and stones "dashed" (knocked, thrown, or hurled) in their direction.
So those who built carriages began installing a board to protect them. That became known as the dashboard. The word carriage got shortened to car, and the dashboard is sometimes shortened to dash. Today, the dashboard sits behind and below the windshield that houses various controls and instruments.
In addition to the speedometer, tachometer, and gas gauge, there are warning lights you need to pay attention to on your dashboard and instrument panel. (You may have gauges for some of these, but it's still important for you to keep an eye on them.) Here are some examples:
Oil pressure—This lets you know if you have had a drop in oil pressure in your engine. Low oil pressure means your engine parts aren't getting lubricated as they should, and this can cause serious damage. Call your service advisor immediately; you may damage your vehicle if you drive it in this condition any further.
Check Engine light—If you see this one (it usually looks like an engine), it means one or more sensors in your vehicle has detected an abnormal situation. Again, you should have this checked out as soon as possible. A technician at your service facility can read a code stored in your vehicle that will point towards the issue. If the Check Engine Light is flashing, there is something wrong that could lead to serious damage – so get it checked out right away.
Brake light—If this is illuminated, your parking brake may be on, or there may be a more serious problem like low brake fluid or hydraulic system issues. Check your parking brake and if it isn't on and the light is, make sure to get it checked asap.
Tire pressure—Newer vehicles have tire pressure monitors (TPMS) built in that will tell you if any of your tires are over or underinflated. Both conditions need to be checked out. If the TPMS light is flashing, the system itself needs attention.
Of course, there a many more warning lights. You should get your vehicle checked as so as you can. Here are some critical warning lights for which it is recommended that you have your vehicle towed to your AutoCare Canter: Oil Light, Temp(erature) Light, Charging (Batt) Light, and Brake Light if pedal performance is low. These warning lights indicate a condition which could cause serious engine damage, leave you stranded, or with unsafe brakes.
Things were sure simpler back in the horse and carriage days, but it's a good thing today's dashboard can tell you all these things about your complicated vehicle.
We at NAPA AutoCare want to make sure your driving experience is trouble- and worry-free. Consult us for all of your vehicle maintenance and repair needs.

Classic Corvette Speedometer and Tachometer to Fit Your Corvette
Has it been countless days since your Corvette speedometer was able to count anything? Does it feel like your tachometer is not a meter but rather just tacked onto your console? Depending on how classic your Corvette is, it’s entirely possible that these parts have ceased to work as they should (or perhaps they’ve ceased to work at all). That said, you don’t have to settle for anything less than the best for your Corvette. Not here. We have plenty of speedometers and tachometers available. Plus, we may be able to fix the one you have.
Restored C1 Corvette Speedometer In many cases, we’re able to offer speedometers that we’ve restored on site. Case in point, as of this writing, we have a 1959-1960 Corvette Restored Original Speedometer with white graphics. Ready to install, we restored the unit inside and out completely. The outer lenses are new, and so too are the inner ones. Accurately calibrated, this can go into your Corvette today. However, keep in point: as the pointer is a replacement, it would not be entirely correct for your car if it were to be judged. But, it’s more than ready for the road.
NOS C2 Speedometer It may be hard to believe in the year 2022, but NOS parts still exist. There are still parts that were never opened “back in the day” so are ready to help your classic Corvette today. One example: this 1964 Corvette NOS speedometer we have. It’s still in the original box, but we did take it out to test it. That way, we could ensure its quality as well as its function before selling it. The odometer reading isn’t zero, but it is near zero, as we did have to take it on the road for a few miles. One thing to remember: this really is just for 1964 Corvettes.
GM Restoration 1975-1977 Corvette Electronic Tachometer 5300 Redline In some cases, we offer new reproduction parts. These are reproduced to be as much like the original parts as possible. The only difference: improved circuitry. To be as direct a fit as possible, this particular part was manufactured by a licensed AC Delco reproduction supplier. With this, your C3 Corvette could have a tachometer for the long road ahead.
More Than Speedometers and Tachometers There are plenty of speedometers as well as tachometers available at our site. In fact, we may even be able to repair and restore the tachometer that you already have. Should there be an issue with your tachometer/speedometer, reach out to us and we’ll see what we can do. That said, you can find plenty of other parts for your classic Corvette here that aren’t meters or gauges. To see everything that we offer or to speak to one of our experts, you can view our site here or call us at (800) 638-6450.

It shows the measured distance traveled by the driver. Traveled distance is the number of wheel rotations times the tire circumference. It serves several purposes such as indicating mileage. It is useful information for any driver who does not want to skip scheduled maintenance. Moreover, it helps to determine fuel consumption. Modern vehicles also have a trip meter, also known as a trip odometer. The driver can reset it anytime and record the distance traveled in any particular journey. As you can see, car odometer reading serves multiple purposes. Odometer may be electronic, mechanical, or electromechanical.

WHAT ARE OTHER METERS AND GAUGES ON MY DASHBOARD?

But the point is that the mileage-related data stays the same in the vehicle’s internal computer. Anyone who makes an effort can discover a clocked odometer.
Unlike other correction tools, a premium-quality device from Germany, known as a mileage stopper works differently. It is not for changing existing mileage on the odometer. It just stops the mileage recording process from all control units. Even though manufacturers created it for testing purposes, many people use it as a mileage correction tool because it offers untraceable performance. According to the manufacturer’s recommendations, this device serves legal purposes and you should only use in a controlled environment.

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM ODOMETER FRAUD
Due to the car odometer reading importance for buying a preowned car, it is essential to know how to spot and check odometer tampering. Understanding and Choosing the Right Digital Engine Tachometer
A digital engine tachometer is an important tool for tracking how well the engine is running and figuring out what’s wrong. With the ability to measure the rotational speed of an engine’s crankshaft in revolutions per minute (RPM), a digital engine tachometer can provide valuable information about the engine’s overall health and performance. In this guide, we will help you understand why digital engine tachometers are an essential part of keeping your engine running smoothly.
What is a digital engine tachometer?
A digital engine tachometer is a device that measures the number of revolutions per minute (RPM) of the crankshaft of an engine. The tachometer has a sensor that picks up the magnetic fields made by the engine’s moving parts. This information is then turned into a digital signal that can be shown on a screen or read out. This measurement is important for monitoring engine performance and diagnosing problems.
Digital engine tachometers are becoming more popular than analogue ones because they are more accurate, easier to use, and can simultaneously show more than one piece of information. Digital tachometers or EV tachometers usually display the RPM, the engine temperature, the oil pressure, and how much fuel is being used. This allows for quick and easy monitoring of the engine’s overall health and performance.
Types of Digital Tachometers?
Based on data acquisition and measurement techniques, digital tachometers are categorized into four types:
Based on data acquisition
Contact type
Non-contact type
Based on the measurement technique
Time measurement
Frequency measurement
1. Contact-Type Digital Tachometer: These tachometers measure the rotating shaft by direct contact and are generally fixed in the machine or electric motor. With the help of a magnetic sensor, RPM can be measured, as it is also attached to the machine.
2. Non-Contact Type Digital Tachometer: As the name suggests, a non-contact digital tachometer does not have any contact with the rotating shaft. This type uses an optical disc or laser attached to the rotating shaft, which the tachometer reads using an IR beam or laser.
3. Time Measurement Digital Tachometer: This tachometer calculates the time interval between incoming pulses. A tachometer like this has a resolution independent of the measurement speed, making it more accurate for measuring low rates.
4. Frequency Measurement Digital Tachometer: A digital tachometer is used to measure the frequency of the pulses. Because the rotating shaft controls the revolution of this type of tachometer, it is more precise when measuring high speeds.
A Digital Tachometer Uses
Many industries use the Digital Tachometer, and it’s also extensively used for commercial applications.
Various modes of transportation like cars, planes, trucks, tractors, trains, etc.
Industrial machines and machinery used in farms
Manufacturing amenities
Examination and education
Components of the Digital Engine Tachometer CT-6700
Measurement of high response
With diverse purposes, it supports numerous sensors.
The trigger assist function allows automatic trigger level setting.
A measurement of unequal-interval pulses is made by measuring the crank signal of the ECU.
Digital data output by CAN at high speed.
It’s Time to Buy a Digital Engine Tachometer
In conclusion, a digital engine tachometer is a valuable tool for anyone who wants to keep their engine running smoothly. These devices are easy to read and give accurate RPM readings. They also show a number of engine parameters. By getting these unique products from Ono Sokki, like a digital or laser type tachometer, etc., many industries have found that investing in a digital engine tachometer is a smart choice that can help you get the most out of your engine. The main motive behind using a Tachometer
We all have studied about the velocity of a body in senior classes. Velocity is used to determine the speed and direction. Another related term is acceleration which is the change in velocity with time. so, to analyze the proper functioning of the vehicle and speed, acceleration is important which can be measured in revolution per minute or RPM. Here is where the use of a Tachometer comes into light.
It is used to make the acceleration of the car fast and effective and can also measure the speed of the engine in RPM. This is the main reason why Tachometer have come into prevalent and frequent use in the automobile industry.
It can also be used to measure the angular distance of a rotating piece thus, it can be effective and efficient in different automobiles or vehicles like cars and buses. Read More...

Technology & Flight instruments Dealers in Islamabad

Flight instruments are the tools in the cockpit of an airplane that give the pilot data about the flight circumstance of that airplane. For example, height, velocity, vertical speed, heading and significantly more other vital data. They improve security by permitting the pilot to fly the airplane in level flight and make turns. Without a reference outside the airplane, for example, the skyline. The six basic flight instruments and how those work and how we use them to fly the aircraft. Airspeed indicator:

The airspeed indicator is pretty straight forward but the biggest thing that you need to understand is that it reads our airspeed in knots. Well, what is a knot? a knot is simply one nautical mile per hour. Whereas your normal car speedometer just shows you statute miles per hour. The difference between a normal mile versus a nautical mile is that a nautical mile is six thousand and seventy-six feet long instead of the standard 5,280 feet. So one knot is approximately 15% faster than one mile per hour. Now again as the name implies airspeed is simply the speed through the air so for fighting a headwind. Attitude indicator: This is arguably one of the most important flight instruments that we have in the airplane. Especially once we get into instrument flying which is flying in the clouds but even for VFR flying. This is a very important instrument. So the attitude indicator gives us a direct indication of our pitch in our bank. Altimeter:

This is also a very crucial instrument because we need to know how high the roof line. The pilot wants to have the altimeter reading height above sea level. Because the height above the ground is going to vary it means is that ground-level actually varies. For example, the elevation in Chicago is not the same as the elevation in Denver. So the pilot always has its altimeter calibrated to tell the height above sea level. Vertical speed indicator: Vertical speed indicator tells us how fast we are climbing or descending in terms of feet per minute. The needle gives the hundreds of feet per minute. If the needle was set by the 5 that would mean the plane on climbing at 500 feet in a minute. If it was down on the 10 that means the plane descending at a thousand feet per minute below the vertical speed indicator. Heading indicator: Heading indicator just simply tells what direction you flying. The cardinal headings which are north east south and west. With these heading indicators on the numbers, you need to add a zero to the end of it so north is zero degrees or 360.

When the three add a zero to it so that's 30 degrees six is 60 East would be 90 degrees 120 hundred and fifty hundred eighty 210 degrees so on. The thing with the heading indicator is that it doesn't actually know where North is? The heading indicator gives you a much better and easier to use reading of what you’re heading. Tachometer: The tachometer tells us how fast the engine is turning in revolutions per minute, and that's again by hundreds of RPM. The throttle lever is essentially the same as the gas pedal in your car push, it down to go faster in your car push. The lever in the airplane to go faster, so the RPM gauge is how the pilot knows how much power he is using. Vacuum indicator: The vacuum indicator is responsible for running the gyroscopes in the attitude indicator and in the heading indicator. If the vacuum is below the green the pilot may not be getting enough vacuum suction to run the gyros in the attitude in the heading which makes sense. Washing machine does not spin

Today, household appliances firmly entered our lives. The apartment of modern people is filled with TVs, PCs, a vacuum, an air conditioner, a dozen kitchen appliances, etc. Of course, the washing machine takes a worthy place in this list. Unfortunately, this complicated technique periodically breaks down. Of course, the warranty greatly simplifies this problem, but even it does not relieve from additional troubles, and, sometimes, from costs. But many problems are often caused by very simple reasons, the elimination of which does not require much effort and skill. In this case, most people can easily eliminate them on their own without the intervention of specialists. Of course, this requires the correct determination of the fault cause. Diagnostics solves this problem, but requires some skill. Therefore, even a simplified classification of the most common failures can be useful for diagnosis. Of course, spinning is one of the main functions of a modern washing machine, reducing and simplifying the entire washing process. Of course, the lack or limitation of this mode significantly reduces the device functionality. The water in the tank and the wet laundry after end of last cycle indicative this problem. Usually, it occurs due to insufficiently fast drum rotation, poor drainage due to a clogged filter, insufficient pump performance or failure of the electronic module. The signs of this problem include: - water in the tank after last cycle; - increased noise level during draining; - no water drain; - wet clothes; - increase in cycle time due to too slow draining; - automatic reset mode; - “Spin” button does not activate spin mode.
The reasons
1. Fault pump, clogged filter or drain hose. Many users can check and, if necessary, replace the pump by yourself.

2. Pressure Switch fault. A faulty water level sensor does not generate a signal for the electronic module. Accordingly, the control system does not fix the water in the tank and does not start draining it. Usually, pressure switch is located at the top of the washing machine.

2. Failure of the control module. The control board contains triacs that form control commands for the actuator relay.

The failure of any of them, for example, due to a short circuit, blocks the supply of voltage and, accordingly, the execution of a certain function. But its diagnosis and replacement requires qualification. 3. Faulty motor. Worn motor brushes or burnt wiring can limit its rotational speed. Accordingly, the washing machine does not provide the required centrifugal force in the spin mode. 4. Faulty Hall sensor or tachometer. As known, the tachometer controls the rotation speed or rpm of the electric motor. Accordingly, its failure blocks the information to the control module, which limits the electric motor rotation speed to prevent its overload.
Primary diagnosis
Initially, it is necessary to check random factors, including cancellation of the spin mode, activation of the Child Lock or delicate wash mode. In addition, some models do not support the imbalance control option when the laundry is unevenly distributed over the drum surface. In this case, the control system automatically stops the cycle to prevent dangerous vibrations at high speeds. Accordingly, the user must visually check the uniform distribution of the laundry in the drum. Many modern models have a test cycle in standard mode to adjust the optimal rpm. It will also be useful in this situation. If these actions did not help, the failure requires further diagnosis.
Wet clothes and water in the drum
This situation indicates a fault in the drain system. The check includes removing the pump filter and, if necessary, cleaning it. A small tray will eliminate the risk of water leaking onto the floor when removing the filter.

After this, you can visually check the impeller rotation on the pump in the spin or drain mode. A serviceable pump rotates it very quickly. Slow rotation or lack of it indicates a pump fault. Unfortunately, more accurate diagnosis requires removal of this node. This algorithm includes: - loosening the clamp on the pipe and its removal; - disconnection of electrical wiring; - removal, disassembly and cleaning the pump; - reassembly and checking the impeller rotation. The lack of a positive result indicates a failure of the pump and the need to replace it. Testing the Pressure Switch includes: - draining; - unloading linen from the drum; - removing the back of the washing machine; - disconnecting the pipe of the pressure switch, which is usually located near the wall. - checking and, if necessary, cleaning the pressure switch. Of course, it must have clean contacts and serviceable wiring. Its check requires only 10 cm hose, whose diameter coincides with the external diameter of the inlet socket. The user must strongly blow into the free end. Good sensor will generate clicks, the frequency of which depends on the air flow power. When using a multimeter, the resistance of a good sensor should also vary depending on the air flow. Otherwise, the device requires replacement.
Wet clothes, but the drum without water
This situation may indicate an electric motor fault. In this case, its insufficient power may not provide the required rotational speed for spinning the laundry. Diagnosis includes: - remove the back panel, drive belt and electric motor; - visual inspection of the motor brushes wear and, if necessary, their replacement. Their length must be at least 15 mm.

Usually, the service life of brushes reaches 5 years with an average intensity of work. - visual inspection of the wiring; - checking the motor winding with a multimeter. Motor rotation speed Electric motors of washing machines use Hall Sensor or Rotor Position Sensor or tachometer to control the rotational speed. In models with direct drive, the Hall sensor is located near the motor winding for better interaction with its magnetic field.

As known, the Hall effect uses the occurrence of a potential difference on the sides of a metal plate in a magnetic field under the influence of direct current on the plate. Some models automatically control its serviceability. For example, Indesit models form an F02 error code when it breaks. In the absence of this option, checking its serviceability requires a multimeter. The coil resistance of a good sensor usually varies for different models in the range of 60-70 Ω and it is constant with fixed rotor. Manual rotation of the motor shaft changes the resistance, which indicates its serviceability. Otherwise, it requires replacement. This video demonstrates testing the Hall sensor in LG models with direct drive. Read the full article

Photoshoot of the Week: December 23rd-29th 2019 - Ducati V4 & Giorgy

The Ancient Appian Way (in Latin and Italian Via Appia Antica) is one of the earliest and strategically most important Roman roads of the ancient republic. It connected Rome to Brindisi, in southeast Italy (the heel of Italy's boot). Bits of the Ancient Appian Way are now covered in tar to facilitate vehicular traffic (even if there's a semi-parallel modern road called Via Appia Nuova - literally New Appian Way - which bears most of the traffic load). But the original, rutted Roman flagstones still cover long swathes of this mighty ancient road, and it is lined by magnificent ancient tombs, including scary Christian catacombs. The Via Appia Antica remained over the centuries a popular Sunday lunch picnic site for Roman families following the half-forgotten pagan tradition of dining in the presence of one's ancestors on holy days. This practice was rapidly dying out in the face of the traffic fumes that for the past few decades have choked the venerable road, but in the 90s the Via Appia Antica was closed to cars on Sundays, bringing back the picnickers along with bicyclists and inline skaters. Even Italian motorbike addicted and multitalented socialite (exotic poledancer & horses trainer) Giorgy Leo decided to take a break from caothic and smoggy roads and took the Ducati V4R for a beautiful photoshoot along the Ancient Appian Way: after all also bikes need to relax, don't they? All kidding aside, the choice of this set was utterly symbolic: the Ancient Appian Way's importance was indicated by its common name, recorded by Roman poet Statius: "Appia longarum... regina viarum", which means "the Appian Way the queen of the long roads". Not only Giorgy is indeed a truly Italian motorbike queen, but - as you know better than me - it has been a long road for every biker to learn how to ride a sportbike, especially powerful motorcycles like Ducati V4. It's definetely intimidating at first and it will take time and practice to master its incredible engine, but - damn, riding a sportbike surely pays off and gives more motivation and satisfaction. So, if you haven't already tried this kind of motorbike, please take my post as a good New Year's resolution! Two years after the release of its acclaimed, game-changing V4 superbike, Ducati is updating the Panigale V4 and V4S by adopting features that debuted on the V4R: here there are the 2020 V4 and V4S models folks! Both models now resemble the homologation special, boasting the same slippery bodywork that punches a larger hole through the air and gives the rider a larger cockpit to hide behind. Both models are visually distinguished from the R by their painted steel tanks and plastic winglets (the R features a brushed aluminum tank and carbon fiber wings). Updating these model for 2020 Ducati aimed to make the Panigale easier to ride without sacrificing its exhilarating nature: to accomplish its goals, it refined the chassis in a number of ways. First, it increased the center of gravity by 5mm to make direction changes easier. It also gave the suspension softer springs with more spring preload, in addition to a new shorter rear shock linkage. Ducati claims the changes help increase rider confidence, especially over rough surfaces. Second, Ducati also massaged the chassis, milling out a section of the cast frame to decrease torsional stiffness by 30 percent and decrease braking stiffness by 15 percent. It's the same chassis change we saw debut on the V4 R last year, and is aimed to improve front end feel and decrease front tire stress, particularly at deep lean angles. Compared to the 1299 Panigale, the V4 models are undoubtedly easier to ride, and not just because it's a little more comfy. There's more revs to play with and the power and torque spread wider across the range, with a softer, kinder bottom-end and an even more ballistic top-end. The hit of power isn't quite as in your face, and as a result it takes less time to settle in, gel with it, and understand how it wants to do business. It definitely has taken a chill pill of sorts; it seems to know more than just on or off, and that makes for a great time on the road, with a great ability to bend to your will and match your current mood. Rather than delivering all of its power like a bunker-busting bomb does, all in one giant hit, it's a smoother, more linear progression as the TFT dashboard animates the digital tachometer and your foot works the worlds smoothest quick-shifter. You could even entertain the idea of going touring with it, should you wish to, or even a commute to work now and again if the mood took you. Anyway, V4 and V4s models are smoother and far more manageable, but all that can go away with a simple flick into Race mode. Everything dials itself to 11: anti-wheelie goes all but to sleep, traction control finds stealth mode, the Ohlins electronic suspension firms up, throttle response goes stratospheric and tyre-shredding slides become the order of the day. The archetypal Ducati personality returns in an instant, and then some. They're blisteringly, unbelievably, unfathomably fast, and faster than the 1299 was. In fact, "fast" doesn't even come close - it's almost pointless trying to put it into words. The rate at which fuel and gears are consumed and converted into forward momentum is beyond comprehension, and decorated by a soundtrack straight out of the MotoGP paddock. Despite that, V4 and V4R are still an unbelievably hot place to sit thanks to the rear cylinder's exhaust headers curling up under the seat next to the bespoke 200-section Pirelli Supercorsa rear tyre. The cockpit is still a wonderful place to be, with a high definition 5" TFT dashboard which makes it a piece of cake to configure the Panigale V4 through its many different modes. The bars are set wide, just as the 1299's were, and the front fairing is tiny. You still need far too many revs to pull away from a stand-still, which alerts everyone within at least 250 yards to the fact that you're on a Ducati - and the stock exhaust is so loud that it only gets away it by sounding so good. It still even sounds like a twin-cylinder thanks to its twin-pulse firing order, and it doesn't like being ridden at anything less than 20mph: you'll be lucky to get 100 miles out of a tank of fuel. Every single electronic rider aid is available at your fingertips. #bikergirl #v4r #v4s #ducatiobsession #ducatilife #motorcycle #ducatista #ducatinsta #superbikes #ducativ4 #ducativ4r #ducativ4s #ridefast #bikeracing #motosports #motolife #fastbikes #RidinGirlsBlog #racing #motorbike #bikelife #bikersofinstagram #bikerfamily #v4 #riderich #girlsonbikes #ridemore #sportbike #sexybiker #bikerchick #bikerlady #desmo #speed #roadracing #ridingsexy #girlswhoride #motard #ducaticorse #motorrad #ducati #motogp #moto #helmetporn #ducatimonster #ducatiracing #motorrad
