Thoughts on Ishan :
(and ict in general)
1. When he opted out of India's test squad before our series with S. Africa....I knew... I KNEW it will be a long time before we'll get to see him playing for India again.
And then few weeks later Rahul Dravid said in a press conference... He can come back... Just play domestic.... My heart sank.
Here's the thing, I don't blame him at all for taking a break due to mental fatigue.
I fully support his decision as well. He prioritised himself and that's good.
But my dude... If I was your friend, if I was there with you... I wouldn't have let you go.
I would have grabbed his trousers and refused to let go. This is team India. You take one step back and 10 other people are standing right behind you ready to take your place.
Shubhman gill was hyped up so much... Remember his 126 in 63 balls against New Zealand?
But he faltered.
And Today he's in reserve.
Jaiswal is going to be our new opener in all 3 formats very soon. And there's nothing wrong with that. The guy earned it.
Ishan left the South Africa Series and a month later during the india Vs England test Series Jurel was picked and he did an excellent job.
Now imagine... Imagine if Ishan was there instead... If ishan had scored those 90 runs.....he would have made his place permanent.
I'll repeat myself.... I don't blame him for leaving... But he should have thought this through. Especially when a guy like Rahul Dravid is your coach.
(he's the same guy who gave declaration during a test match when Sachin Tendulkar was about to score a century. He's not as innocent as he looks.)
Another thing which really hurts me is how so many people complain about him being benched and then dropped but Yaar....there are tons of players who have gone through this.
Even Ashwin was benched. He said in an interview that when his team would win he wouldn't even feel like going in the ground to congratulate them coz of how hurt he felt.
It happens.
.
.
.
Anyways My overall opinion on this drama is :
1. I support him for leaving.
2. But I hate that he left.
3. A block of ice would be a better coach than Rahul Dravid.
Anyways... Jo hogaya so hogaya.
What I want now is for him to focus on his future.
And He can start by leaving Mumbai Indians.
MI was the team who would pick young players, groom and invest in them and make them capable enough for team India.
The MI we have seen this year is no longer that team. It doesn't matter how many reels their insta page puts out, the atmosphere of that team is tense, awkward and a hot mess.
If Mumbai really cared about a future captain as they claimed.... They should have made Ishan their new captain...like how csk and gt did with ruturaj and gill.
But oh well.
Right now... The best he can do is keep himself fit, play domestic and leave MI at THE EARLIEST.
That team, it's atmosphere, the mismanagement and inner conflicts (believe me, they exist) will not help him at all.
Imo, he doesn't need a team to grow. He has developed a good skill set. What he needs now is a stage.
A team like Kkr, RR or Gt will be great for that because these teams don't drop Their players after 1 or 2 matches... Have good coaches, stable environment and a good atmosphere overall.
Ishan is an excellent wicket keeper + batsman and the type of cricket he plays is best suited for t20 format (one day and test also but especially t20).
Whether we win or lose this t20 world cup... This one is the last one for our senior players.
After that, our youngsters will take charge (at least they should).
Yashasvi and Abhishek should be our openers.
Gill, rutu and Riyan would perfect be for middle order.
Ishan, with his explosive batting style, would be the perfect finisher.
Also... This dumb culture of batters not learning bowling (encouraged by this stupid impact rule) that has developed in the Indian team needs to STOP.
Look at Australia and New Zealand's t20 squad. Look at how many all rounders they have.
Look at ours. We won the 2007 cup because of all rounders as well.
Also... We cage our players. We hold them back. A player like Travis head is playing with such ferocity because his style and mindset is supported by his captain, his team and his media.
Meanwhile... If an Indian player attempts to do the same and doesn't make a big score in 2 -3 matches... He'll be benched instantly.
Another thing... If we look up the stats of our players in this year's t20 wc squad...
Except virat, Bumrah and maybe kuldeep ...everyone else is on ram bharose.
When players like n. reddy, ishan, rutu, gill, Riyan, natrajan... will be groomed and given enough opportunities....their aggressive style will be supported instead of criticized.... that's when we will win trophies.

okay, I was researching a bit and Pat's international debut is on 13th Oct 2011, in a T20 against South Africa. And the very next day, VK plays in the first ODI of India's home series vs England. So logically, if he was supposed to be playing a ODI in India on one day, then he can't be at South Africa the day right before that 🤭 So ofc, VK isn't present in the stands to cheer on his husband during his debut series. I can see Pat being so surprised and even a bit offended about VK's absence, because he just assumed VK would quit his career upon marriage 😆
Hmm... actually I might have my dates slightly wrong xD
It might be just after Pat's international debut...

Afghanistan National Cricket Team Vs. India National Cricket Team Timeline
Tumblr media
There was a lot of debate and tension as the third Twenty20 International between India and Afghanistan ended. There were questions because it wasn't clear whether Rohit Sharma was "retired out" or "retired hurt" during the first super-over. If it were the first one, Sharma wouldn't have been able to bat again, but he did, which suggests a clever move based on the rules' lack of clarity. The game was fascinating, and the regular match ended in a tie at 212. Rohit's excellent hundred, coming after two ducks in the earlier games, was the game's high point. India returned from a dangerous 22 for four thanks to his heroics and a record fifth-wicket combination. This set up a nail-biting finish. Afghanistan, on the other hand, didn't give up and made it to a super over. Let's dive deep into the Afghanistan National Cricket Team vs. India National Cricket Team Timeline. Afghanistan National Cricket Team Vs. India National Cricket Team Timeline India Batting Scorecard Batsman Dismissal Runs Balls Minutes 4s 6s Strike Rate Yashasvi Jaiswal c Mohammad Nabi b Fareed Ahmad 4 6 12 0 0 66.66 Rohit Sharma (c) not out 121 69 103 11 8 175.36 Virat Kohli c Ibrahim Zadran b Fareed Ahmad 0 1 1 0 0 0.00 Shivam Dube c †Rahmanullah Gurbaz b Azmatullah Omarzai 1 6 5 0 0 16.66 Sanju Samson c Mohammad Nabi b Fareed Ahmad 0 1 2 0 0 0.00 Rinku Singh not out 69 39 77 2 6 176.92 Extras (lb 9, nb 2, w 6) 17 Total (20 overs) 212/4 RR: 10.60 Afghanistan Batting Scorecard Batsman Dismissal Runs Balls Minutes 4s 6s Strike Rate Rahmanullah Gurbaz † c Washington Sundar b Kuldeep Yadav 50 32 46 3 4 156.25 Ibrahim Zadran (c) st †Samson b Washington Sundar 50 41 53 4 1 121.95 Gulbadin Naib not out 55 23 49 4 4 239.13 Azmatullah Omarzai c Ravi Bishnoi b Washington Sundar 0 1 1 0 0 0.00 Mohammad Nabi c Avesh Khan b Washington Sundar 34 16 16 2 3 212.50 Karim Janat run out (†Samson) 2 2 4 0 0 100.00 Najibullah Zadran c Kohli b Avesh Khan 5 3 6 1 0 166.66 Sharafuddin Ashraf not out 5 2 12 1 0 250.00 Extras (b 1, w 10) 11 Total (20 overs) 212/6 RR: 10.60 Super Over Drama and India's Strategic Edge Due to constant ties, the game went into not one but two extra overs. There was more debate when Mohammad Nabi chose to take runs off a deflection. The first super-over ended with 16 runs scored by each team. Indian finally won in the second super over, with exciting cricket displays, including boundaries, wickets, and intelligent plays that kept the crowd at Chinnaswamy Stadium glued to the screen. Rohit Sharma's Victory and His Hopes for the Future After the game, Rohit Sharma, also named Player of the Match, talked about how rare it is to bat three times in one game. He used this to stress how vital strategic teamwork and mental toughness are in high-stakes games. He led the team through tough times, and Rinku and Shivam Dube impacted significantly. Shivam Dube was named Player of the Series for his outstanding performance in every way. Coming Challenges and the Future of International Cricket India is now focused on red-ball cricket as they prepare for a 5-match Test series against England in Hyderabad. The T20 series is over. At the same time, Afghanistan is preparing for a one-off Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo while thinking about the good things that happened in this exciting series. There are many T20 leagues worldwide, so the cricket season is still full of action and drama. The deep strategic explorations in this series set a thrilling standard for future games, keeping both fans and players on the edge of their seats. Everyone in the cricket world eagerly waits for teams to get back on track and set their sights on future glory. Congratulations on a series that exceeded expectations, leaving fans with unforgettable memories and a strong desire for more exciting cricket action. Read the full article

ok so i was trying to figure out when vk would first play against england in omegaverse, coz im so excited to see him and stu finally interact! so it actually turns out that vk was selected for the 2008 series vs england but didn't play a single match (hmmm maybe msd and sachin decided that it was too early to have vk exposed to alphas like kp and jimmy? kp would be sooo pissed yk, vk being so close but so far for him 😆)
which makes vk's debut match vs england directly in the 2011 world cup, and incidentally that match was tied, with both teams sharing a point. again, vk's original batting position was at number 4 at this point, but for some reason yuvraj singh, dhoni and yusuf pathan were all promoted above vk in the batting order here?? so vk came in at 7, towards the very end of the match and scored 8 runs before being dismissed. now im pretty sure vk's demotion was a match-related reason, probably they wanted a quick scorer like yuvi and msd to increase the score, instead of someone like vk who isn't really an explosive batsman and takes some time to be settled.
then india toured england from like july to september in 2011. again, vk got dropped from the test squad due to poor performances in his debut series, but he was selected for the odi leg of the tour, as well as the only t20 they played. stu actually dismissed vk in the T20, for 4!!! and guess what, vk was actually asked to roll his arm over in that t20, and he actually had kp, of all people, stumped off his bowling hahahahah 😭😭🤣🤣
then came the odi leg of the same tour. 5 odis, vk scored a 50 in the first match, which got called off due to rain. then followed a string of low scores in the next three matches, before he hit back with a stunning century in the last match of the series, his first hundred against england.
so despite vk's international debut being in 2008, he doesn't really come face to face vs england, and stu until 2011? is stu still pretending to be an alpha then?
Oh yeah, I know.
I know the date he comes up against England proper very well.

Cricket: A Gentleman's Game with Global Appeal
Cricket, often referred to as a "gentleman's game," stands as one of the world's most beloved and widely followed sports. Rooted in tradition and known for its strategic intricacies, cricket has evolved over centuries to become a sport that captivates millions across continents. From the idyllic village greens of England to the bustling stadiums of India, cricket's charm lies not only in its gameplay but also in its ability to foster a sense of community and passion.
Tumblr media
Historical Roots:
The origins of cricket can be traced back to 16th-century England, where it was played by shepherds and farmers. As the game gained popularity, it became a favorite pastime among the British elite, eventually spreading to the colonies and taking root in countries like India, Australia, and the West Indies. The establishment of formal rules and the formation of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in 1787 marked a crucial moment in cricket's history, laying the groundwork for the structured and standardized version of the game we know today.
Test Cricket: The Pinnacle of the Game:
Test cricket, the longest format of the sport, remains the ultimate test of a player's skill, endurance, and mental fortitude. Played over five days, Test matches are a true examination of a team's ability to adapt to varying conditions and sustain excellence. Legendary encounters like the Ashes series between England and Australia and the historic clashes in iconic venues like Lord's and the Melbourne Cricket Ground have etched unforgettable moments into cricket's history.
Limited-Overs Formats: The Evolution of Entertainment:
While Test cricket embodies tradition and endurance, the introduction of limited-overs formats—One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 (T20)—revolutionized the game, making it more accessible and entertaining. ODIs, with their 50-over format, brought a new dimension to the sport in the 1970s, while the T20 format, introduced in the early 21st century, has become a global phenomenon, attracting new audiences with its fast-paced, high-scoring nature.
Global Icons and Rivalries:
Cricket has produced iconic players whose names are etched in the annals of sports history. From Sir Donald Bradman's unparalleled batting records to Sachin Tendulkar's masterful strokeplay, cricket has been graced by legends whose achievements have transcended borders. Rivalries such as India vs. Pakistan and Australia vs. England evoke intense emotions and draw massive global viewership, showcasing the power of cricket to unite and divide fans in equal measure.
The Cricket World Cup:
The Cricket World Cup, held every four years, is a pinnacle event that brings nations together in a celebration of cricketing excellence. The tournament has witnessed unforgettable moments, such as the West Indies' dominance in the 1970s, India's historic triumph in 1983, and England's dramatic victory in 2019. The World Cup not only showcases individual brilliance but also serves as a platform for emerging talents to shine on the world stage.

Well, the notes I have for VK playing England are a 2011 white ball series but it’s in England at the end of the year (Sept) I think…
^^^
Yeah no, you're correct about this! There were 2 India vs England bilaterals in 2011. The first one was from August to September 2011, and consisted of 4 tests, 5 ODIs and a one-off T20. England won the tests 4-0, the ODIs 3-0 as well as the T20. The tests took place first, followed by the T20, and then the ODIs. VK didn't play the tests, but was there in the T20 and ODI squad. So basically the one-off T20 in August 2011 is VK's debut against England. He got out on a low score there, but more interestingly, he was asked to roll his arm over and actually got KP stumped off his bowling 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 VK also played the ODIs, scoring a 50 in the first match and a century in the last one.
Then England toured India for a return series, immediately in October 2011. This series consisted of 5 ODIs and a one-off T20. England won the T20, while India white-washed the ODIs 5-0. VK finished the ODI series as the highest run-getter.
Ahha - so the England home tour is first? Which is good because that is the series I need for overse (also love that VK gets KP out - love love love it. It’s his first ball bowled isn’t it?)
