ok i know we're always on about the klance height discourse™ or whatever but we all know the true superior headcanon is that lance thinks he's taller, and is 100% sure of this fact for months, until one day he realises that keith's habit of either slouching or leaning against walls actually makes him appear a little shorter than he really is, and that when he stands straight, they are, in fact, exactly the same height. cue lance's subsequent identity crisis.

so here's lance, under the unquestionable impression that he's had at least a good inch on keith since the garrison. they've stood next to each other, he's seen it, he's experienced the feeling of having to glance down to meet keith's eyes.

and he'd know - he's got a mental tally of every victory he has against his rival, and this is a one of his favourites. if keith scores higher than him on a test? doesn't matter, lance is still taller. keith beats him in the simulator? well, at least lance is taller. keith insults his piloting? whatever, lance is still taller!

and, it continues like this, in lance's head, until eventually, he brings it up in conversation, casually, albeit a little smugly, mentioning their slight height difference. keith, stopping in his tracks for a second, just blinks at lance in confusion and goes, "wait, you're taller than me?" to which lance looks down at him and is like um. yeah dude obviously. and then, in a moment that shatters lance's entire worldview, keith straightens up, gains like an inch, meets his eyes and replies, "no, you're not." and lance promptly goes through the five stages of grief
