#GODDAAAAAAAMN SHE LOOKS SO GOOD

Voilà... *crickets*
I know I should like this song. It’s good, the singer’s voice is lovely, the video is striking, etc. But I can’t bring myself to, feels like work for some reason. It bores me, for another puzzling reason. I just looked up at the lyrics and they’re interesting: looks like she’s talking to us listeners and at the same time to a lover that’s leaving. I suppose that’s ingenious... or am I just trying to say stuff and fill the lines? God, if this was homework for uni I’d be failing so bad…
So I’m gonna talk about the video. It’s interesting to note the parallels with Roxen’s and her pain and conflict reflected by the dancers around her, but unlike there, Barbara’s aren’t something that torture and control her. She’s offering us her inner world, with all her turmoil and desperation, but ultimately hers to control and share. She doesn’t even flinch when the ‘shadows’ twirl and sway around her, they might as well don’t exist for her but for the fact she’s creating them for us. At some point they even do a Roxen: pull her around, lift her off her feet and presumably hurt her, but she comes out of it with a smile, because she’s always in control and everything that makes her what she is is out for display by her own choice.

These my shadows, bitch.
Now if only she could make me as interested on her song… Again, I’m not saying it’s bad, it isn’t and is probably going to rate high with the judges at least, but goddaaaaaaamn, listening to it once feels like too much, to the point I’m patiently and politely waiting for it to fucking end every time I have to rewatch to catch the stuff I’m putting here.
Ok, enough, I’ll leave it at that. I want her to get a good spot, but unless they find a way to make her create shadow dancers as she sings (or something equally interesting) I'm probably going to forget the song as soon as it's done.
