omg it makes me realize i hadnt mentioned it i think??
anyway i passed and validated my year at uni heck yes!!! and on top of that with rather good grades
we're graded on /20 and anyway,
remember (if i mentioned it?) how one of my class was english etymology and the current evolution of english language on a linguistic angle (as well as historical and social if we wanted) and esp how currently the language is changing?
exams was divided in participation in class (which i nailed bc it fascinated me so much i could never shut up), a linguistic approach exam (say how a word like unavoidable comes to be, which order of steps you gotta take and how those steps change the function of the root ect and lots of exercices like that to analyse how etymology comes to be) and finally what was supposed to be an oral presentation but ended up being an essay, on the topic of our choice, to highlight specific language evolutions
anyway even if its cringe:tm: the amount of knowlegde and rambling i had made me write a 26 pages paper of an abridged introduction to some fan language, slang and subculture as well as lots of history tidsbits (my teacher didnt know what "fandom" was and i threw at him a whole complicated explaination of Anne Rice lawsuits, gacha slangs, and stan stuff among others things) and also i sneaked ways too many meme in those and unformal jokes (oh to be able to ramble about the origin of the verb "to whale" and post a screenshot of a whaling page with the caption "pictured the devil talking, do not listen to the siren call")
anyway i was probably high off isolation when i wrote it all up so cringe but yaknow what
the final grade i got on this class was 20/20. a perfect mark. which means all three of the exams passed were completed perfectly. including my 26 pages long essay
allowing me to ramble about etymology was my best class ever and im so glad since i signed for it completely accidentally and didnt think it will be what would interest me. what a blast. what a way to validate a year.
#i love etymology kdhdkdhdkd#this is how i walked around my dyslexia#turns out i remember words more easily if i have their history in mind#so yeah those classes were a blast to me and im so sad i cant continue it next year#this is where i peaked academically#ichablogging uni

Hey! I hope you don't mind me asking, but I noticed you exercice frequently and I was wondering if you had any advice for a young woman (24) who has never really exercized seriously starting to go to the gym. In school I was always awful in gym class, however six months ago I started doing cardio classes with my uni twice a week. This semester my schedule doesn't fit anymore so I can't attend those, and the other available one is too hardcore and I couldn't follow the rhythm of it (1/3)
so, much to my shame, I've had a nearly 4 months break from exercising apart from running, which I honestly don't like that much and I have a strong urge to lift weights and work on my arms and legs. It also has a great effect on my mental health with exercise taking almost all of my anxieties away, so I am resolved to get a gym membership since I have enough money saved. My question then is, any recommendations for a beginner wanting to get in shape? I understand building a routine but (2/3)
am scared of showing up to the gym and not knowing what to do lol. Thank you so much for the answer, and I hope everything is going well with your life!! (3/3
First off sorry about the late reply, i’m so bad at keeping up with my inbox. Second... well I’m not sure I’m the best person to ask, given I do not go to a gym to work out but rather I have my own weight-set at home and just exercise from home. Also I’m by no means an expert, I just learned some things as a result of working out for three years at this point.
Though, at first glance, I feel like it would help you to decide exactly which muscles you want to target more or less and start building up around that. Obviously the entire body is to be exercised, but say you’re more into legs rather than arms then focus on managing your days to prioritise that and then on your off days go on with the other muscle groups (remember that rest days for muscle groups are important!). That’s one thing. The other thing is that if you’ve never lifted weights and aren’t too familiar with strength building exercised, it’s probably best for you to start off with either bodyweight exercises and then move up the weight ladder slowly. Anyway I use this website for my routines which has some really really good tips and routines for pretty much everything you’d want for every muscle group, from strength training to pilates to HIIT and so on, so if you want to you can sort of look around and see what sort of workouts they do and try to see what you think would work best for you. Their videos have really handy printable routines that you can bring to the gym if you really don’t know where to start too!

Friday 25.11.22
Mood of the day:
once again, none

I am late with this diary entry but I still recall the day crystal clear so I guess it’s good.
I started my day very early and meet with one of my besties. We did all our exercices together and he was so sweet, explained to me what to do and did all the things that he knew I needed to do for my half marathon and rowing practice. The day started perfectly.
After that he had a class and I just grabbed coffee after dropping him off to uni. I walked to my godfather who gave me the keys of his house so I can use their gym room whenever I want. Him and his wife really adopted me and treat me like their own kid (they don’t have any) It’s so sweet I adore them.
My bestie finished his class and I met him in uni again and we walked to the library together. We grabbed lunch -pasta with NOTHING, that’s the kind of pre-midterm meal you loathe but at the same time…. We could not eat anything else at that time. We then studied for hours till his last class of the day at 7pm. I dropped him off at uni again and we mutually saved each other from really annoying people.
The Christmas market of my city (aka the best one in the world according to médias from everywhere) was opening for the first time this season and they lighted up the illuminations tonight. I tried to go watch the show with my other besties but sadly I was too stressed for my midterm tomorrow and by the crowd so I left. They were so many people. Yes I hate tourists.
I went back home after that long day and tried to sleep quite early -and failed at that one but anyway-
I just want to be done with tomorrow’s midterm and celebrate my besties birthday.
