I think after watching the series and the movie, the only positive takeaway I had from nge, personally, was that the animation was phenomenal. Tone-wise, you can't really compare it to Moomin because it's comfort soft characters who deal with heavy issues in a gentle and kind manner vs uncomfortable characters dealing with traumas in the worst ways possible.

#I WILL add from a friend's perspective who loves nge #It's a very intense show when you're in a bad place emotionally #I know the creator Hideaki Anno suffered a lot during the making of the anime and the movie #and while he's much better now he knows he couldn’t go back to nge because he was just in a totally different place emotionally #so I can respect folks who take something special from nge #... but I will not take slander from their fans so be mad ig #word bubbles
