Mikey and how well they characterize him.

He's kind

Protective

Like basket ball

A chronic over worker

A team olayer

Can strategize

Likely a martyr

And they were able to teach you all this without supposition in the first episode. Clearly focusing on less characters DOES benefit then to SOME existent.

Shoutmon and his design

He's loud (as expected)

Energetic

He's self centered and performative

He's kind

He wants to be a king

He has a childish view of leadership

He has a drive outside of Mikey this is uncommon for partner digimon

They compliment each other as characters. And it leads into the "King" and "General" thing Shoutmon has going on. Shoutmon the king and Mikey the general.

The other two kids that dont have digimon's personalities. Particularly Jeremy sticks with me for being a dramatic weirdo who REALLY wants to be the mcs rival. I like that archetype.

Neither of them have as much characterization as either Mikey or Shoutmon but they're supporting caste anyway. And the decision not to focus on them is a good one

The animation is dare is good. And not even "good for a digimon series". No, just good. It's no mob psycho 100, ghost in the shell, or scissor seven but it IS smooth pleasant to lock at and the characters are given lots of expression.

The edgy blond boy is edgy.

Things I don't like.

Mikey's friends ARENT given a partner or anyway to help Shoutmon. I can already feel them becoming irrelevant. And having him, a person shown to thrive around others, be sent to their alone could have opened up interesting plotlines. But maybe the other two WILL be important so I'll keep an open mind.

The two other theme song kids being teased at the end. Wtf are they even doing there? Don't they have business to attend to?

Things I find funny

Leomon says "I'm melting, I'm melting" as the series speed runs killing him only to still lose to x-evolution.

The end when they did tease the other digi destined or whatever the series is going to call them it was literally this meme

Like seriously Shoutmon defeats the bad guy of the week and then it pans up to the girl I haven't been given the name of watching them who says "But spying more fun" then UP AGAIN to the boy I haven't been given the name of watching HER.

Like sure I think they should have been introduced later but that was funny.

Over all I wonder why I decided it was bad as a kid? I suppose I may figure it out further into the series.
