cyberpunk propaganda:
- twice divorced annoying asf rocker boy terrorist stuck in your head via digital virus slowly killing you
- actually he also acts divorced with you even though he is literally in your head and neither of you have ever been together
- post capitalist hellscape corp controlled society where people don’t even own the eyeballs in their own heads and in some cases even their very souls are up for sale
- body horror via augmentation that can cause “cyberpsychosis”
- very rich storytelling in completely interactive cut scenes
- i mentioned the divorce already right
AAAARRGGHHH I'M BEING INFLUENCED

More Zeldas are always a good thing. (I recently replayed “The Minish Cap;” still perfect. “Echoes of Wisdom” is surprisingly deep too if you haven’t picked that up yet.)
You said you’re looking for an adventure title in that vein…if they’re on sale, maybe check out the indies “Baldo: The Guardian Owls” or “Ary & The Secret of Seasons.” They’re both blatant Zelda ripoffs…the worlds, the dungeons, the treasures and items…and they can be janky or poorly-designed at times, but they’re really charming and have fun stories. (Also definitely don’t play them on Switch.) “The Plucky Squire” is supposed to be awesome too but I haven’t got that yet.
If you’re a Metroidvania fan, “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown” and “Yars Rising” are fantastic recent examples that were unfortunately played by no one.
“Alien: Isolation” is great for crapping your pants in fear. I’ve been meaning to finish that but got distracted from it a few months ago and haven’t picked it up again.
Now, action games/beat-em-ups. I got “Lollipop Chainsaw RePop” on PS4 and had a blast with that.
“No Straight Roads” is kind of a lesser indie version of “Hi-Fi Rush.” Like the aforementioned Baldo & Ary, it’s one of those games that’s not technically great, but you wind up liking it anyway. You’d probably love the art style and the characters and world. (High levels of tickle community potential 👀) It’s also very short.
Here’s a unique one. “Battle Chef Brigade” combines Metroidvania combat and color-match puzzle games like Puyo Puyo. Each round, you run out into a field area and kill monsters, collect their body parts/ingredients, then bring them back to a kitchen and combine them into a dish before time runs out.
OMGGG ALL THESE RECS THANK YOU SO SO MUCHHHH
I love the Minish Cap SOOOO much I think it's one of my fav Zelda games... the picori hold such a special place in my heart... and I just got Echoes of Wisdom over my winter break but I didn't get super far into it before I had to get back to school!! I'm hoping to play more of it when I get home for spring break but I might save it for summer so I can really sink into it hehe what I've played so far was amazing! :D
Oooh I love dungeon games... honestly if it scratches that Zelda itch I will 100% check them out hehe!! I'm really interested in the Baldo one it almost reminds me of Ni No Kuni?? Ahh I never finished that game either I should go back to it I loved that game...
I think I've seen ads for Prince of Persia before!! It looks familiar and really really fun I'm gonna put it on my wishlist right now hehe omgg and the Yars Rising game looks fun too! I don't know if I've played a ton of Metroidvania games before but I love learning new mechanics and stuff like that so I'll check them out!
Alien: Isolation might actually be too scary for me LOL I love horror games so much (Until Dawn is one of my FAVEEES) but I have to make the silliest confession on here... I am terrified of aliens!!! I might watch a playthrough of this one but I think my little heart couldnt take playing it HAHAHAAA thank you for the rec though it looks really funnn
Lollipop Chainsaw looks so fun omg. I lowkey love beat-em-up games I need to play them more often! Hi-Fi Rush also looks SO fun I love the artstyle omg I just added it to my wishlist I lowkey might get this one just for the vibes

:: yesterday eye uploaded and released it quietly for myself and the stared into the abyss of IG until now 🕳 (tumblr & soundcloud saw it first!! if you havent' gathered s'far i rlly do hate this cursed website💀)
:
lately ive been deeply struggling with these platforms of self-promotion and want to do something with this release beyond giving pennies to bandcamp (who's new owners also get a big fuck you for firing half of their staff and not recognizing the recently won union)
these songs mean more to me than the chump change of sales, and I'm inspired by artists who are able to mobilize what they create to pull focus and rally supprt support of needed relief, especially in this violently hectic time of ramped up genocidal impunity. what are our creations for if not for healing, to speak truth to power, and to resist the economies of domination. track three "sovereign intimacy" is a song I wrote for my senior creative thesis, in step with the insanity of this moment, and the chronic insanity of settler colonial fever dream unreality. as we continue to witness these empire machines violently resist the people's demands to cease with these old world colonail paradigms, I hope this song particularly, and the songs on this project bring you or anyone some soothing, some witness, some resonance.
the album is also up on bandcamp put please truly do not buy it, not there and not yet. If wanna send me money through there I'd suggest adding to wishlist and waiting for bandcamp friday, because once again, a HUGE fuck you to the new owners songtradr.
::
I'm in the works getting this release and my other audio projects organized as a free download // offering in support of Palestinian relief/solidarity efforts. I'll be sharing that presently, so If you want to support or are interested in that offering be on the look out.
i know what music has done for me in times of grief. all of these songs I have written as acts of saving my own life, and have helped me to transmute through my own versions of hell. these files are all I have to give and I'd rather give them away if that supports someone feeling more motivated to put their dollars in the pocket of medical relief funds right now.
social media is hell and self-promotion makes me want to rip my eye-balls out, but thank you to my friends and family and community for continuing to support my music making, thank you my buddies at the fountain for the generous advive and encouragement
and thank you to music, the mystery of the sound wavs, for always being there for me, for us, in and through portals of grief
