Thinking about how the CQ2 and CQ3 protagonists got the short end of the stick in endings lol
Like, in the first game, after Drakoth is defeated, nothing else happens. The game is left with an open ending with a tone of hope (going on another adventure)
The Dragonblood gets a chance to process what just happened, he gets time to settle with his guilt. And Spirry gets the chance to redeem himself.
And sure, Aelius is released, but it doesn't seem like he acted right away, so the Dragonblood had some time to recover.
HOWEVER
In the second game, once all is said and done, Kirry insists on sending the Kingsbloods home WITHOUT their memories. To prevent a paradox (which is total BS in my opinion, all things considered. But that's for another post).
These two guys have learned and changed SO MUCH on this adventure, and likely formed a fairly close bond. Only to discover it was all for nothing! They won't reap the benefits of what they just did!
And worse still, they're likely doomed to turn into the very people they just defeated. Because they can't take any of their experiences back home with them. (I am REALLY salty about this haha, This is why my AU exists)
I can't imagine they left completely willingly. I imagine for them it was more for the sense of duty. There had to have been at least a little reluctance!
And finally,
The Seeker, after defeating the Northern Star, likely remains trapped in the Zero Dimension. It really doesn't seem like there's any way out once you're inside, and as much as I love Cappey, I'm not sure he has the ability to navigate the Zero Dimension at all like Kirry could. And there's no land close enough to swim to.
And of course, Aelius starts the Apawcalypse pretty much as soon as he got his hands on the Northern Star. So not only is the Seeker trapped inside the ultimate prison, but they are forced to watch in guilt as everything comes crumbling down.
Now, I'm sure once we get a game where we actually defeat Aelius (I can't see this series ending on any other note), we'll get another happy ending, maybe even one before then. But as of right now? 2/3 of these games are some sort of tragedy or bittersweet end lol
