This Friday-Sunday (February 28th-March 1st, 2020) at the Carolina Theatre of Durham, it’s the 21st Annual Nevermore Film Festival!
Created in 1999, The NEVERMORE Film Festival is a juried competition festival which programs brand-new genre feature and short films from around the world.  The festival seeks submissions for narrative feature and shorts with an emphasis on horror, science fiction, dark fantasy, animation, mystery/suspense, and action-thrillers.
Program Book here.  Featured films include
Diego H. Kataryniuk Di Costanzo’s Bitter Was The Desert (”an 18th-century French nobleman who invites his friends to dinner. It is, in fact, his first dinner party after the death of his beloved wife. Everything is proceeding with maximum tranquility… until a peculiar dessert and a macabre game jeopardize the French nobility.”)
Polly Schattel’s Here There Be Tygers (”the terrifying story of female-on-female bullying, and the masks we remove whilst preparing our revenge”)
Álvaro Vicario’s Polter (”the funny story of a man fighting against the supernatural powers in his apartment!”)
Lisa Ovies’ Puppet Killer (”Jamie is a sweet-natured guy who may, or may not, have killed his step mom when he was a kid. Or was it his pink puppet named Simon that did the deed? Finding himself in therapy ten years later, Jamie still talks about his mom who instilled a love of horror movies in him. As Christmas approaches, Jamie and his friends are spending the holiday at a cabin in the woods. While childhood memories begin to rise -- and every horror film trope comes into play -- this group of “kids” soon start being picked off one by one. After finding Simon in the cellar, it all becomes a question of whether it’s Jamie or Simon doing the killing!”)
Justin Menoche’s Slaybor Day 7 (”a sly mockumentary chronicling the career of horror-movie icon Maddox Mason, a masked murderer who kills people who wear white after Labor Day.”)
Steven Sheil’s Unmade (”a woman who visits a spiritualist in order to contact her dead husband for one final goodbye.”)
Individual tickets are $10.  Ten-passes are $80 and are only available at the box office.
