" Congo Global Solidarity: Why Congo Matters is a global call to conscience and action. Unfolding in the heart of the African continent is the greatest humanitarian crisis at the dawn of the 21st century triggered by what the United Nations says is the deadliest conflict in the world since World War II. A modern day scramble is underway for trillions of dollars worth of Congo's precious and strategic minerals leaving in its wake massive loss of life, widespread devastation and a scar on the conscience of humanity. People of African ancestry and those of goodwill throughout the globe are mobilizing to be at the side of the Congolese as they pursue peace, justice and human dignity in a country that is vital to the future of the African continent and central to the moral compass of the human family. The film "Lumumba" documents the true story of the rise to power and brutal assassination of the legendary leader of independent Congo, Patrice Lumumba.
