I’ve got a stupid sense of humour, and I don’t expect everyone to get it or enjoy it :’) this is fine and I accept this. Unfortunately a trait me and the muse share is a propensity for dad jokes, bad puns, lewd jokes, innuendo... yeah. Please just know it’s all in good fun!
This is where I air some laundry from the early days of creating this blog. I’m stupidly passionate about this stupid series. But even more so, I’m stupidly passionate about the Sannin and have been for so long, which may be a very obvious thing to say... but I mean really, I love these bitches—for all their flaws, yes, but also giving them credit where credit is due for how much shit they fought through and how revolutionary they were. For being the last surviving three of a generation that was so screwed over it was practically obliterated. I’m neither 100% on the ‘they’re toxic disasters’ squad, nor am I for defanging them and pretending their flaws don’t exist. I guess what I’m saying is I’m just not down for demonising traits that make them so multi-layered, whether that results in blowing those traits out of proportion or just writing them out of existence because they’re unsavoury. And the more I’ve been in the RPC, it’s not just the Sannin despite them being my chief concern (and them being the most shat-on fandomwide it seems). Truth is, I don’t really like demonising any character and saying their flaws are ‘poor writing’ or any of that, right down to the silly parts. And I don’t like the double standards when it comes to the shifting moral goalposts characters are expected to meet to not be deemed problematic and therefore irredeemable or whatever. As someone RPing who I am RPing, for almost 2 years now, just trust me that I’ve seen this crap plenty and it’s tiresome af. So please forgive me if I get quite opinionated at times regarding which aspects of my muse are apparently so very terrible—after being tagged in anti posts by absolute strangers not long after the beginning of this blog’s creation I very soon found I don’t have the fucks to spare if I come across a little blunt.
On a generic RP note, I am slow as hell... a lot of the time. I can be quite quickfire when we’re first getting the ball rolling on any given thread, but as things get more in depth and detailed I end up taking longer because I just want the reply to be as good as it can be. I’m definitely a perfectionist in that way. I edit things 100 times. I read it out loud inwardly to see if it flows right in a ‘voice’, and get fixated. I copy and paste the reply between various places. It’s a bad cycle :’) pair that with a crappy attention span in general, and you get Fun Times. But know that I’m always doing my best to bring you my best.
I have... way more headcanons than I’ve written down, or if I have it’s been in threads and I haven’t pulled the headcanon material from them to make proper, easy to access headcanon posts. Lots of headcanons also come out in conversations, and I’m working on trying to dump things I say into a OneNote so it can be addressed eventually... but basically, if you have any question about the big man it’s likely I’ve got an answer! So plese do ask away. And if it’s not something I’ve thought of yet then believe me, I’ll love you all the more for having asked!
Ships? Yes, ships. It’s probably obvious that Jiraiya’s quite easy to ship in a romantic capacity, but one thing to know is that with him... you can kinda have him how you want. He’s definitely not pushy for a relationship, so muses don’t need to feel pressured into it either. Conversely, if this is an issue for your muse, if your muse seeks a commitment... then know I’m more than happy to start delving that messy territory. I’m beyond down for the weird grey areas of romance and relationships.

WIP Meme
WIP MEME
Here are some of my WIPs… There are several PWPs that I decided to leave out (they’ll never make it to posting…) and a couple of longer fics that are still too much in the planning stage to list here. Also, I have loads of great little things (not listed here) started in a “Working Document” that just keeps getting longer and longer… and some of those are well over 1000 words long, but haven’t been moved to their very own document yet!
Gosh, I hope I’m able to finish some of these one day. There are so many stories here that I absolutely LOVE, but I’m a slow writer and I tend to get distracted by new ideas. Not an ideal combination of traits… Anywho, here goes:
1) Home for the Holidays Ten x Rose (my only WIP that is actually partially posted):
(Multichapter) A Doomsday Fixit that also follows the events of the Runaway Bride. Despite having the victory of the Battle of Canary Wharf behind them, Rose remains resentful that the Doctor tried to send her away after she promised she’d never leave him.
2) Banana Mochachino Tentoo x Rose:
(Multichapter) Tentoo and Rose’s relationship is suffering from the strain of living a life, day after day, but when the TARDIS coral perishes, their relationship falls completely apart, and they go their separate ways.  [This sounds horrible, and parts of it really are, but eventual happy ending, though at times it seems impossible]
3) Hidden Ten x Rose:
(Multichapter) Set in the world of my Christmas story, Timeless, where the events of Journey’s End happened differently: Tentoo never existed; Donna has married Lee; and Rose is traveling with the Doctor, leaving her family in Pete’s World.
After a honeymoon gone wrong, where Rose and the Doctor spend several grueling weeks saving a planet from hostile alien invasion, that involves human children being harvested and used for the aliens’ procreation, they stumble across a baby, abandoned in a barren field, nearly frozen to death, but one of very few precious children left on the planet. In helping the baby to heal, Rose becomes attached, and does not want to give it up. Follows the frustrations of our babies not being able to conceive a child of their own.
4) Run Ten x Rose:
(Multichapter) Sexual tension in Rose and the Doctor’s relationship is near the snapping point when she is nearly killed in an alien attack. Unbeknownst to the Doctor and Rose, the effects of the attack trigger changes in Rose’s physiology. Takes place after TIP/TSP.
5) This Useless Lump Ten x Rose:
(Multichapter) In the aftermath of GitF, the Doctor and Rose go to an extravagant ball, where the Doctor, once again, seems to be captivated by his royal hostess. While the he is otherwise occupied, Rose teams up with a handsome young man to thwart a revolution in the making. The Doctor becomes very concerned when the young man asks Rose to stay on the planet with him, and she seriously considers his offer.
6) Regrets, Repentence, and Promises Ten x Rose; Tentoo x Rose:
(Multichapter) The first story in my These Two Hearts Series, this story follows the evolution of the Doctor and Rose’s relationship in the aftermath of GitF. Follows it through to Doomsday. NOT a fixit. Very close to being ready to post… just working on a few more chapters…
7) Better with Two Ten x Rose:
(Multichapter) All human AU. A ten-year old Rose Tyler secretly ventures into a posh neighborhood in London and meets a wealthy young boy named James Noble. They have grand adventures in their imaginations, traveling through space and time, but are cruelly separated when James’ parents find out about their friendship. They lose contact with one another, but many years later Rose sees James’ again when he and his French fiancée, Jeanne, make a purchase at Henrick’s where Rose is working as a sales associate.
8) Untitled (for now) Ten x Rose:
(Multichapter) Human Nature AU: Rose, Donna, and Jack are all traveling with the Doctor. The Family of Blood is after Rose, instead of the Doctor, wanting to harvest her for the power of BAD WOLF. The Doctor chameleon arches her, and deposits her in modern day Canada, where she is (of course) rather jeopardy-friendly… Not a great summary, but I like the idea of this story, problematic though it is.
9) A Patch of Bad Weather Ten x Rose:
(Oneshot) The Doctor takes Rose to a planet in what he believes to be a grand romantic gesture, but Rose doesn’t quite see it that way.
10) Untitled Hogwarts AU Ten x Rose:
(Oneshot) A prompt fic that I BLOODY WELL WILL fill one of these days. James Noble, a Ravenclaw student, is well-known for his smarts throughout Hogwarts and the entire wizarding world for achieving time travel not limited to space. Everyone knows who he is, except he believes to his consternation, a beautiful Gryffindor quidditch player, two years his junior, named Rose Tyler.
11) So, Here’s the Thing… Tentoo x Rose:
(Oneshot) Part of my These Two Hearts Series. Tentoo and Rose’s three children are growing up faster than the Doctor would like. The Doctor’s adventures in parenthood while Rose is called away on a surprise mission for Torchwood.  (To be posted very, very soon! Yes, I swear this is true!)
12) Stuck on You Ten x Rose:
(Oneshot) Rose is curious about what the Doctor’s sticky notes say, but the Doctor isn’t inclined to share… not until Rose’s sexual frustration snaps. PWP Close to being finished, but…
13) The Cure  Nine or Ten x Rose:
(Oneshot) The Doctor takes care of Rose when she’s on her period. A bit too tropey for my liking, TBH.
14) The Lonely Lord and the Selkie Nine x Rose:
(Oneshot) Celtic Mythology AU Another prompt fic that MUST be filled.  Basically what the title implies. I really want to write this. I just want to make sure I get the mythology correct.
15) Wired Ten x Rose:
(Oneshot) An eccentric young genius calls his trusty IT man, Mickey Smith, whenever his computer crashes (once again) as he’s writing up his PhD. dissertation. However, Mickey’s friend, Rose Tyler is filling in for Mickey while he’s on his honeymoon, and she must convince him she’s qualified to help him out, but will she make a house call?
WHAT!!!! Only 15!!!??? I know there are more out there… I know there are!
Tagging: @timeladyofthesith; @perfectlyrose; @jellyneau-xo; @jem-scribbles; @hanluvr
Darlings, please feel free to ignore... and I’m not trying to nag anyone or anything (I would never. And I should talk!) Sorry if you’ve already been tagged.

WATCH POINT blog tour & giveaway wrapup!
It’s been a blast launching WATCH POINT, my gay Navy SEAL abduction romance, and I would like to thank all the blogs and sites that featured the book, reviewed it, hosted my essays, and participated in the giveaway! All told 154 comments were entered the drawing for a Cecilia Tan gay fiction prize pack, including some Daron’s Guitar Chronicles swag, The Prince’s Boy, and such!
Scroll to the bottom to see the ultimate winner! :-)
Some highlights from the tour:
I did a “Down and Dirty” interview for USA Today’s “Happy Ever After” column, in which I reveal my love of Sour Patch Kids, Yuri!!! On Ice!, Queen + Adam Lambert, and Peter Tork of the Monkees.
At Heroes & Heartbreakers, I blogged about how everything I learned about wilderness survival, which is put to good use in Watch Point, I learned not on the Internet, but in the Girl Scouts:
“At first, I resisted [my mother’s attempts to get me into Girl Scouts]. I resisted anything that was associated with the word ‘girl.’ I got the Handbook with all the merit badges in it and was mildly disgusted how many of the badges were for things like cooking and sewing. (I’d already learned to sew.) But I stuck it out because there was talk of going on a camping trip. Real camping! Staying overnight in a tent in the woods! I couldn’t wait for that. The Girl Scout motto is ‘Be Prepared.’ I brought my own camping kit (including canteen, frying pan, etc), Swiss army knife, and other tools…”
At Love Bytes Reviews I posted a list of Eight Things I Learned About Navy Seals:
“The average man trying to qualify to be a SEAL can do 79 situps in two minutes. The best of the recruits can do 100. They may be the only romance heroes who actually have the abs pictured on the book’s cover.”
At Bayou Book Junkie I wrote about why I had to write our hero, Eric, in not just the first person but in present tense, something I don’t normally do, but which just worked perfectly for him:
“In the case of Eric the puzzle I needed to solve was how to let the reader see what’s going on in Eric’s head even though Eric himself avoids introspection? It was important to give the reader a deep look inside because so much of what Eric does– like kidnapping Chase–looks villainous from the outside. But inside we know he’s deeply concerned with honor and justice. This parallels Eric’s sexuality, which includes role playing and BDSM which may look abusive from the outside, but from the inside we experience as deeply caring, careful, and loving.”
At The Novel Approach I wrote about explicitly giving Eric half-Asian/half-white ethnicity and why that choice was important thematically to me:
“I am a mixed-race person, and being ‘mixed-race’ has been the ‘hip fad’ three or four different times in my life. Like bisexuality, it is a trait that is easily appropriated by authors as an easy ‘outsider’ marker, a metaphorical symbol of their character’s uniqueness.”
At OMG Reads I blogged about “Military Romance as Guilty Pleasure“:
“I am against using the term ‘guilty pleasure,’ because it is so often applied against things that we shouldn’t be guilty about [especially liking romance]. But I do have a wee bit of guilt over one corner of romance, and that’s military romance. My conscience nags me: how can you enjoy reading and writing Navy SEALs when you don’t agree with American military might being abused around the world?”
I write about the paradox of loving military heroes, but not the way our government abuses them. In Watch Point we get into the subject of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell as the reason why Eric is no longer in the military. In future Wayward Warrior books I’m planning to also touch on other ways our government has failed to serve those who serve us, including budget cuts to veterans programs and so on.
Reviews
Dog-Eared Daydreams reviewed the book, saying:
“If you think Watch Point is your usual falling-for-your-captor story, you’ve got another thing coming. This is my first Cecilia Tan read and I was more than impressed with how she made this such an original tale of vengeance, freedom, and kink.”
The Novel Approach loved it, as well:
“I’ve always loved miscalculation as a romantic catalyst, and Eric falls into the trap of underestimating Chase from the start … and watching Eric’s respect for Chase grow was the lit match to the short fuse you know damn well is going to blow up before the happy ending.”
The one negative review (if I can call it that?) was from Boy Meets Boy Reviews, who were disappointed that the dubious consent was not dubious enough. Riptide Publishing is pretty serious about making sure content warnings are used, and Watch Point is tagged with dubious consent, BDSM, military, enemies to lovers, and hate sex. As the review states: “Most of those tags (IMO) should come with a “lite” disclaimer,” and “All the people who do not do dub or non-con, this is the dub-con for you. This might be the fluffiest dub-con I’ve ever read.”
I don’t disagree at all. Compared to my dub-con fanfic–or even to what goes on in The Prince’s Boy—Watch Point is *relatively* lighter on the transgression. 100% valid review! I still support the content warnings, though, since this is still a kidnapper/kidnappee setup, so for those who find dubious consent triggering or problematic, this is not an allergen-free book. People who are sensitive to those issues should still proceed with caution.
The Winner!
To pick the winner I compiled all 154 comments left throughout the tour in a spreadsheet, assigned by row number, and then I used the website Random.org to pick the winning number. People who left comments on multiple blogs were entered multiple times; each comment counted as an additional entry into the drawing. The number that came up was 94 and so therefore the winner is Lisa for a comment left at the Erotica for All blog!
I truly appreciate all the comments, thoughts, and enthusiasm from everyone on the tour. I’m emailing all of you a little something in thanks for making it a really fun and memorable week. :-) So thank you HB, Paul, James, Didi, Joanne, Nancy, Christina, Timitra, Jennifer, Ginger, Lee, Debby, Trix, Shirley, Jennie, Lee, Tanya, Diane, Jodi, Lennis, Brian, and everyone else whose names may not have come through. :-)
