If all fuel injectors and system circuits are correct, a controller failure or programming error has probably occurred. Use a multimeter to determine if the wires are in good working order, and correct any problems to correct error P062D. If no abnormalities are found in the fuel injectors, disconnect the circuit from the PCM and the fuel injector. If necessary, replace the defective fuel injectors. With the oscilloscope wires connected, note any inconsistencies in the wave pattern. If the system wiring and connectors are serviceable, use an oscilloscope to check each individual fuel injector. This increases the chance that the sensor connectors, as well as other electrical connections, will become corroded. Sometimes water or fluids can stagnate in the nozzle seating areas. Also look for melted or otherwise damaged areas. Look carefully for abrasions, bare wires, or breaks. Visually inspect all wiring and connectors leading to the fuel injectors (Bank 1). If the problem is described, following the instructions may save you time and money in diagnosing and correcting the problem. It’s a good idea to first look up the Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) for your specific make of car with error P062D. The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will also illuminate. If the PCM detects a fuel injector confirmation signal that is not as expected, code P062D will be stored. This allows the PCM to detect a problem before it affects drivability. In addition to controlling the fuel injection system, the PCM also monitors the feedback resistance in the fuel injector circuit for signs of failure. Since DC battery voltage is already present in the circuit, this initiates precise atomization of fuel from the pressurized fuel injector. The PCM controls the injector’s throttle timing and pulse width by applying a ground pulse to the circuit at the right moment. The fuel injector driver is part of the PCM or electronic fuel injection (EFI) controller. Fuel injectors were introduced as a replacement for the carburetor because they are more efficient and effective in controlling the fuel supply. Bank 1 indicates the engine side containing cylinder number one.įuel systems use a variety of components to control and monitor volume, timing, pressure, etc. Stored code P062D means that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected a problem with the operation of the fuel injector driver circuit. Technical description and explained code P062D This fault designation applies to all vehicles equipped with OBD-II. Fault code P062D is called “Fuel Injector Driver Circuit Performance (Bank 1)” but in different programs it may be called differently.

Update on repairing 1995 Ferrari F355 with fuel injector, and now ignition coil issues.
After spending all day and night researching this thing, I discovered I was at first completely wrong on how the engine operates. There are two engine computers and each one operates independently of one another. I should have figured because there are two engine malfunction lights on the dash like in the Lamborghini Countach and Diablo. Each engine control module controls a bank of 4 cylinders. They are both the Bosch Motronic 2.7
I was having issues with the left bank of cylinders. The fuel injectors and spark plugs drop out and will fire randomly, even with the key on but the engine not running. Chryslers will usually have this issue when the camshaft or crankshaft position sensor fails, so I assumed there is a bad senaor somewhere.
The two crankshaft position sensors are on the front of the engine and I still haven't really found the camshaft position sensors, so I hook up my oscilloscope directly to the engine control module to do testing.
I hook up my scope with one channel on the ground side of injector 8. The other three channels are connected to the cam and crank sensor signal inputs on the ECM. As soon as I turn the key on, I see activity on the injectors and ignition coil, but the cam and crank show no activity. Things aren't looking good for the ECM.
I remove the ECM entirely and hook it up on the workbench. There is nothing connected to it other than powers and grounds, but when I scope the injector and coil control, they're going crazy. That's it, I'm done. Bad ECM.
I really feel silly for having so much problems with this car. Just because it's on old Ferrari doesn't mean it's complicated or anything. Just a little different from the new cars I'm used to working on. I'm glad it wasn't a sensor issue because I believe the engine needs removed to reach the crank sensors.

 Diesel engines contain many components and small systems. Problems with systems and components can lead to hard starting and the need for drivability diagnostic. When your diesel engine is hard to start, there are several things worth checking. First is the temperature. Diesel engines rely upon heat for the combustion process to occur. If the engine uses glow plugs, they may need to warm up before they can properly start the engine. Second is oil. The internal components of a diesel engine require a lubricant to perform at their best. Engine oil can prevent harmful friction from occurring and can remove dirt and other damaging debris. If a vehicle has a turbocharger, a dirty or low amount of lubrication may also harm the turbocharger and lead to drivability and hard starting issues. A bad battery, fuel supply, and fuel injectors may also lead to hard starting issues.

2003 Ford Explorer 4.0 SOHC XLT- Cranks but does not start (fixed) (Occam’s Razor)

B1352—- code for door chime circuit? Not cause of no start (Power loss related)
U1027—– Power loss related
B1483—– Brake pedal input circuit failure? (Ghost code power loss related)
P2197- O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Lean (Bank 2 Sensor 1) Code= Evidence of?
P0200 was pending- may have short in injector harness ( Ghost code power related).
Check with noid light, oscilloscope or probe (power-probe 4) ( All work fine and within specification)
C1284- normal code if engine is off when scanned.
Recheck the crankshaft position harness wiring and plug Good
check camshaft position sensor Good
recheck mass airflow sensor and intake air temp sensor Good

Taking a step back I carefully though about the situation and decided to simplify the troubleshooting and stick with the facts. I knew that there was no issue with any component and retesting anything would be a complete waste of time. I went through every system that ends in a cranks but does not start situation…… and they were fine…… But there was another answer, One that I didn’t even try to check because I was still thinking about the owner of the vehicle telling me about how it ran and then just died! It died and never started again! I was too involved in thinking there was a failure because it died! So If we start with only the facts and ignore all the random codes and tomfoolery we have 3 facts.
I left the EGR line off and it ran for 1min or so.

The plugs were covered in carbon, Indicative of fouling
All systems are working fine and vacuum is odd when measured
Conclusion….. Occam’s Razor!
I already knew what was happening and didn’t even bother to test anything else……
I Immediately pulled off the Exhaust and the answer to the simple question was right in front of me the whole time!
The catalytic converters were clogged about 90%
