So I was today years old when I learned there was a stage production of Watership Down in 2016, and I have never wanted to put on a show so badly in my life...
#I was wondering if it had ever been done and lo and behold... XD#Honestly I'm not nuts about the way it looks like... for one thing the ears on the costumes are a bit much#I'm not sure how else they could have evoked rabbits in the outfits but there *has* to be another way than big floppy ears right?#Maybe there's thicker fur on the costumes or those rabbits' feet pendants or something to suggest a tail or even just make the ears#less huge and goofy looking or even have them flop down *behind* the hats over the actors' shoulders? I don't know *something.*#And for another thing having the stage look like this huge bunker feels like it's missing a huge opportunity--#so much of the plot is about environmental destruction and the rabbits' relationship to the rest of nature so why not lean into that?#Something between 'Mad Max' and 'Princess Mononoke'--more suggestion of actual nature and the damages wreaked upon it.#God I wish I had any skills as a director because I would *love* to get my hands on this play..#watership down
