The Taj Mahal is one of the most visited tourist attractions in India, attracting millions of visitors every year. The monument is open every day of the week, except for Fridays, when it is closed for prayer. The Taj Mahal opening time is 30 minutes before sunrise and the closing time is 30 minutes before sunset. Visitors are allowed to stay inside the complex for up to 3 hours, although this can vary depending on the season and the number of visitors. In addition to the regular Taj Mahal opening and closing time, the Taj Mahal also has extended hours on full moon nights. During these nights, the monument is open for night viewing from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am. Night viewing of the Taj Mahal is a popular activity among tourists, as it offers a unique and romantic experience of the monument. The Taj Mahal also has extended hours during the annual  Urs festival, which is held in honor of the Sufi saint, Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. During the Urs festival, which lasts for six days, the Taj Mahal is open from sunrise to midnight, allowing visitors to enjoy the monument’s beauty under the stars.

Ever wondered what was the concept behind the construction of great gates in almost every monument in Agra surrounding the main structure?? Let me tell you the reason: The Great Gate was a passage between the terrestrial life, illustrated by the inner courtyard, and the spiritual life, represented by the gardens. Hence the need to purify the soul of those who enter Paradise by materializing the passage through an imposing gate. . . . . . . . . #storiesofindia #historyofindia #bharatchitra #_indiastreets #_m_o_i #_coi #incredibleindia #storiesofindia #tripotocommunity #outlooktraveller #lonelyplanetindia #ngtindia #ngt #travelrealindia #travelbloggers #wanderlust #indiapictures #rop_ #fhotosthatspeak #india_lens #indianphotographyart #travelshoot #storiesbehind #tajmahalhistory (at Agra, Uttar Pradesh) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4wg_w-FeCf/?igshid=1ab675zohsdy0
