We would like to give our great thanks to one of our reliable workhorses inside Project Odin for this analysis of the PCU and ultimately its consequences for RP on Argent Dawn.
Big Billy is a well known, one could say antique player from Argent Dawn's oldest times. We appreciate his input greatly as someone who has been around for even longer than we have has perspective that players today simply do not have on how things have changed.
It is support of him and others, like yourselves good readers, who have kept this place afloat over the years.

The most infamous ERP guild of Argent Dawn having their another chill evening, this time in Fenris Keep. Despite not being very crowded and popular location, sometimes people can still pass through. Sometimes it can be underage person (such as one recorded that particular video). This is disgusting that they can't even keep their dirty fetishes in private and are willingly exposing minors to it, in 12+ game. These people were, of course, reported, but so they were in the past, many times, for similar activities, and yet they are still here, polluting the best roleplaying realm of EU region and endangering minors. They are so audacious they don't even care to use party chat or private whispers, no, it's like they are proud of their behavior and want to drown more people in it. Is Blizzard going to do something about it? Blizzard?? Hellooooo?????

Berta Kaiser - Rotgardist at Marienplatz, Munich - 1919
The Rotgard, or Red Guard, were armed supporters of the Bavarian Socialist Republic, that was established in Munich and surrounding areas in the aftermath of World War I and the Russian Revolution. They fought against militarists, nationalists, anti-Semties and the proto-fascist Freikorps, demobilized soldeirs who were rapidly moving right and many of whose members soon became nazis. Sadly, the Bavarian Socialist Republic was rapidly smashed by the Freikorps, with support of what was left of the German Army and of other right wing forces.

Caption: Next day, at the day care center…
PUNCHY: Alright, Dave, time to make an egg.
PUNCHY: There’s the Ditto.
BANANASAUROS {thought}: Ditto? I don’t like the sound of that, dude. Is it a chick?
Caption: Ditto used Transform…
PUNCHY: It is now.
BANANASAUROS {thought}: “Now”? You mean it was a dude, or what is it?!
PUNCHY: Dittos are intersex.
BANANASAUROS {thought}: I totally should not have cheated on Caitlyn!!!
PUNCHY: Suck it up, David.
Caption: An hour later…
PUNCHY: Wow! Two eggs! You did it, dude! Big kudos to you!
BANANASAUROS {thought}: Yeah, but you’re gonna hafta carry me home in a Poke ball. That thing was all over me with ferocious intent. Ugh! Snip me, dude. I am soo over all of that.
Caption: Later on…
PUNCHY: Don’t give me that smug look. I am baffled. Throughout the game, we all could only make fruit or dinosaur words. And the only word I could come up with not related to either was “Moustache.”
Caption: Another day, at Nabe’s Dojo-Shin…
SHINABE: Anticipate a likely counter attack when fighting an opponent; remain focused.
SHINABE: Hajime!
Punchy follows Marjorie’s advice to take BS to a Pokemon breeder, and Bananasauros is placed in front of his next (first?) sexual partner, a Ditto. Dittos are famous for their ability to breed with any non-legendary Pokemon, and are useful for duplicating otherwise rare Pokemon, such as BS here. Though the details are left intentionally hazy for the sake of keeping Pokemon kid friendly, it is often assumed that when left in the daycare with another Pokemon, the otherwise-genderless Ditto transforms into a Pokemon of the same species but opposite gender, and the two breed, which is what’s shown here.
Despite the fact that BS is still a horny high schooler on the inside, he is not eager to jump into bed with his opposite sexed clone. He considers his being forced to have sex for procreation with this Ditto the apex of his karmic punishment for cheating on Caitlyn. His negative response to the situation may be a commentary on how the Pokemon games allow you to force Pokemon to breed with each other, but that may be digging too deep. It’s prolly just a black comedy rape.
After an hour of apparently rough sex, the Ditto lays two eggs, with their shells being the same color as BS, hinting that they contain baby Bananasaurs. These eggs present an interesting conundrum - since the first Bananasaur was the reincarnation of a dead man, are these also latent reincarnations of the recently deceased? It’s reasonably safe to assume that the roughly 16 or 17 year old David Rotgard didn’t already have any children from his human life, so has he just become a father to the reincarnations of people who were not already his children? Or are they totally new lives, born to a father that was once not their same species? We never see these eggs hatched - presumably they went off with Marjorie and Professor Cedar to be studied and, in turn, breed an entire lineage of Bananasaurs and Bananasauroses to become just another Pokemon species - so these pressing existential questions are never answered.
While Ditto is smiling, seemingly having enjoyed the sex and is proud of the babes she bore, BS claims he would prefer to be neutered to prevent future Ditto rapes.
Later, we briefly return to Layla and Punchy’s house, and she’s still mad that he’s spending all his time with his new pet, now they’re playing Scrabble. Somehow, every single word, barring “Moustache”, related to either fruit or dinosaurs. Seemingly, BS won the game.
Some time later, Punchy has returned to the dojo where he grew up with BS in tow, and the latter is being trained by Punchy’s foster father, Shinabe. Now, those of you who are deeply versed in Sonichu lore might be saying “wait a second, wasn’t Shinabe murdered by a vengeful former student in one of Chris’s supplementary prose side stories, a student who was in turn killed by an avenging Punchy?” Yes, to quote the CWCkipedia article about how Sonichu met the Chaotic Combo, “Punchy occupies the Dojo he hatched in. He missed his television shows (Samurai Pizza Cats), so I talked with the Electric Company of Cwcville, and resumed Electric service for the Dojo. Master Shinabe was murdered by one of his ex-students in revenge. Punchy swiftly punch him back. He respectfully buried his late master and the assassin behind the Dojo with a proper Japanese-like Memorial piece above their resting place in respect.” So why is he here now? The most charitable explanation (and this is a very charitable explanation) is that this is some sort of prequel set before Shinabe’s death, but the more reasonable explanation is that Chris simply forgot he wrote that, seeing as this was written long after the demise of the CWCkipedia.

Rotgarde / Hand of Agony, on Argent Dawn EU, are roleplay guilds for Forsaken players. Both are very good and active. You can’t join as a belf though.
Thanks! I may have found a home for my Forsaken! My main is a belf, though, so the search continues for her...

Whew. First fullbody with background I've finished in aaaagesss! Sadly, my life took a dark turn a few days back, and the process took a tad longer than I had planned originally. But-, The piece is finished now, and I have to admit, I'm really happy with the final result! Hopefully I did him justice! The character is Dejected, and he belongs to his rightful owner!

And now we give our main festive gift to our dear readers. Our final quarterly report of the year on the PCU and its current state!
Well what can we say? By admission of its own membership (both current and former) over the last few months during the Fall and Winter there has been nothing short of a metaphoric bloodbath for the PCU.
Red Venturers and Ronin have fell into inactivity, both very large PCU guilds with large member bases (and many alts too) quietly shuffled off, no doubt seeing how times are indeed changing. BOOMTEC INC has left the PCU, and appears to be thriving for it, so we wish them all the best in their new lease of energy free from the PCU parasitic vampires.
But the most startling and unexpected collapse by far has to be the end of The Rotgarde. While not as large as it was during the era of Perroy, the guild had seemingly been maintaining itself until a sudden collapse at some point in September. The end of The Rotgarde of course marks a key moment for all anti-PCU players.
We thought it best to announce this formally on the one year anniversary of Perroy quitting Argent Dawn for his new enterprise in the Neverwinter MMO, which in turn has seemingly caused a significant bleed off of PCU diehards to follow him, namely the likes of Morsteth, who's dramatic removal as GM of Grim Gest has all but paralysed them. A notable exception to this appears to be Coalburnt, who instead went on a week long rampage on the forums of conspiratorial ranting and raving about how 'NOTHING EVER CHANGES' and how 'NOTHING MATTERS' almost in a kafkaesque parody of Sylvanas Windrunner declaring the Horde in fact did not matter before promptly having his posting privileges revoked.
It is difficult to measure Perroy's influence from beyond so to speak but it is obvious the allure of a new MMO who apparently seem ignorant of the PCU's existence (unlike in places such as Final Fantasy XIV and The Elder Scrolls Online) where they can assume direct control over everything in their domain easily is very likely to be tempting to many 'Old Guard' members, who incidentally have been the most active within the PCU.
With a rough average of merely 29 players per PCU guild, the days of them having any real menace left on Argent Dawn has gone, something that we should celebrate and be happy for. This does of course not mean that the PCU are 'gone' or that its members will not engage in harassment of players still, this is something to remain vigilant about.
But as we settle down for our festive break and enjoy time with our friends, families and loved ones we can safely say that decency and the good people of Argent Dawn have endured the worst. We can at least say we will be pouring an extra glass of wine out for the Requiem of the PCU.
We would like to wish you all a happy and most lovely festive celebration here from the CoAD Team to you all.

So the rotgarde are gone? wow. Never thought i'd see the day when they would be out of the picture. ten years of fucking up an entire racial community and they make a gettaway all quiet in the night.
but i guess you cant expect anything less from nazi cosplayers i guess NWN is their chile and bolivia.
It was quite the surprise for us as well. Though when the pull factors to another game are rather strong (lack of recognition from the majority being the main one) it doesn't come across as too unlikely. The Rotgarde has been a toxic brand for years now and while we're sure Blazepast is not like Perroy, a guild built around a cult of personality can only last so long after its founder is gone without radically changing itself, something that many within the Rotgarde probably didn't want to do as to not "sully" the "legacy" it had.
We suspected for a long time that they would go out with a whimper much like the real world fascists they modelled themselves on.

Sorry in advance: this is a long one!
I'm a veteran roleplayer returning to Argent Dawn for Dragonflight. I rolled my Forsaken there in order to play the at the time brand new exciting expansion The Burning Crusade so this is to say I've been around on the server on and off for a long time and this is the first time I've returned with any kind of optimism purely for the fact that the Rotgarde are not a presence there anymore.
During my RP tenure I was lucky enough to briefly be an officer in a beginner friendly Forsaken RP guild and while the sense of community and the people in the guild were all fantastic if occasionally a little stressful nothing was worse than having to handle the Rotgarde in character or out and it has impacted my ability to this day to both engage in roleplay and engage in an online community without anxiety. My time dealing with the Rotgarde and the fallout of others in the Guild having to deal with them happened a handful if not two handfuls of years ago which leads me to the conclusion that the prevailing factor in all this awfulness is and has always been Perroy. Even back then there was talk of rotgarde members shouting Nazi slogans in RPPVP and Perroy's OOC support of UKIP, there has historically been an awful pattern of shitty bullying behaviour that was especially difficult to deal with when attempting to be diplomatic and level headed in communications when things would ( repeatedly ) kick off between our guild and theirs.
We repeatedly had to handle the ways in which Rotgarde members would unfairly look down on many of our members with obvious scorn and disdain because they were new to roleplay and still feeling out their characters or learning the lore or have English as a second language and this was beyond frustrating- it created barriers to roleplay and discouraged beginner's to come back and it would always put an awful taste in my mouth the way Perroy especially would market himself as god's gift to roleplay and Argent Dawn when he's responsible for driving so, so many away from the server ( talented role players, artists, and DM 's amongst the many I know personally who moved to different servers or made US accounts specifically to avoid Perroy and the toxicity he encouraged, myself included)
It is encouraging to see a shift away from this toxicity in the server on returning ,it makes me hopeful for the future and I think scrolling through this blog you've played a tremendous part in holding people accountable to the damage they've caused, so thank you
If you've read my ramblings, thank you for that as well.
A highly insightful post and one we appreciate, so for that we thank you. It is saddening to hear that you have had to endure the very forefront of disgusting behavior from the Rotgarde first hand and the harm it has done to you. They have been known to be extremely intolerant to anything that they do not directly control (much like the PCU that they in turn spawned).
They truly have been a blight and a rot on the server over the last 8-10 years they have been active, thankfully no more however.
It is kind of you to say that we have had a major part in changing attitudes on Argent Dawn though we would, rather more reservedly we hope, say that our role has been to galvanize the good people already on our server to make the positive change themselves, we are simply the loudspeaker for the community who wishes to use it.
We are glad that you have made a return to us now in Dragonflight however, if you are playing Forsaken now there is a far more positive and constructive atmosphere within the community, a far more openness that was not present before for those wanting to make new Forsaken guilds and communities.
We wish you the best of luck and we extend this to all the other returning or otherwise hesitant players who were bullied, harassed and otherwise belittled by the Rotgarde. Together we can build a better Argent Dawn.

Funny to see Kharsar pop up, he has history with the PCU.
He used to have an undead rogue, called himself 'john hook', he would hang around Brill and try to join the Rotgarde.
They eventually got tired of him when he began obsessing over one of their female members, he joined Goldshire Lux and obviously his time spent in Goldshire hasn't been good to him.
What a truly delightful and well adjusted individual who in no way at all needs to spend time in rehabilitation.

When looking at fanaticism and the PCU I had a question I wanted to ask. Were the more fanatical elements of the PCU always fanatics or did the PCU environment make them that way?
There have always been fanatical elements, the 'old guard' as we often call them, mostly originating within the Rotgarde or inside the Grim Gest. These players have disproportionately been in positions of power since the beginning of the PCU. Usually when in small numbers fanatics know not to let their mask slip because they become easy targets. Amongst a larger collective, a collective they can also find impressionable young players inside, they can not only find shelter but also increase their numbers and in turn become louder, more fanatical.
Individual hyenas are skittish and cowardly creatures who will bolt from even the slightest firm behavior from herd animals. It is only when they form packs do they become bold and willing to even take on the apex predators of their environment like lions. The same analogy applies to the worst elements of the PCU.

people whining about things in RP despite having not RPed in something like five years are always the extremely funny ones. no one cares what the washed out elf posters and co (aka hello loras, telaryn, vixi) who have literally not rped for half a decade.
"but ackshully i was rping on #disposable alt 34 last tuesday for 30 minutes in the crossroads" yeah no one cares. big forum head talking point ' ' discourse ' ' setters are empty calories.
at the same time its not even funny but more sad that the only thing the pcu midwits can even conjure for rp these days is npc roleplay having their dead guilds hunt down their own friends masquerading around as eredar in public spaces.
no one is convinced you talentless hacks. go join neverwinter with big p
It is a strange occurrence that the ones who have played the least in game recently have scored the most forum posts! Maybe instead of lamenting about lost glory and stolen valor they should go fix the problems they apparently see? In any case we find the "forum talking head" phenomena more of a symptom of bad website design than of anything else.
Your point about the PCU however rings very true. PCU sockpuppeting is well known, they played the same rulebook with the Bloody Verdict when the Void Elves became unlocked at the end of Legion. They played the same tune when they "MADE" the Burning of Teldrassil happen two weeks before it actually happened. We're sure you can remember the strange level 1 alt Orc and Humans running into Orgrimmar and Stormwind yelling copy paste messages.
What we are observing are the death-rattle, the decaying thrashing of a corpse that can't reanimate itself any more.

If Perroy were to come back CoAD do you think he'd punish the PCU officers and leaders who he believes have failed him and allowed his project to decline?
If, and a big if, Dear Leader himself tried to make a return it would be almost comedic to watch. The problem is Perroy has lost effective control over all of his guilds, his own Rotgarde included. He has nothing but his broken aura of grandiosity and a hardcore cadre of delusional zealots who think bringing him back would do anything.
Let us remind everyone that Perroy has always been a poor planner, the Rotgarde was never ran by him on a day to day. The likes of Valter, Thrashin, Krankheit, Eaves, Valdemar, and later Skabb, were the ones actually pulling the weight. Perroy sat there claiming to be the "Da Vinci of RP" while slovenly taking credit from his officer corp.
Far from being a great revival, a return of Perroy would accelerate the disintegration of the PCU. The likes of Gruggosh and Morsteth would be loathed to give back power and control over their respective cliques to him. It would shoot down any and all attempts to 'clean up' their image to make themselves as if they've moved on from their obscene behaviors from the past. In short, there would be too much heat and attention.
So, far be for us to tell Perroy to stay away. Since we know he reads our blog habitually along with most of his loyal stooges - please, come back! If for nothing else it will give us the satisfaction to know you hang on our every word.

Hey, COAD. Just musing, if you'll humor it. Do you ever feel torn between minding your personal business, and keeping people responsible? Does roleplaying and running communities on Argent Dawn turn you into a public figure or a role model? That being, a person that the general public can demand apologies and explanations from. Or can we simply not expect anyone here to be responsible for anyone else? After all, none of us probably signed up for this kind of attention or scrutiny. When we find out something damning about someone, is it sometimes better to just shut our mouths and live and let live? What do you think?
Live and let live works only when all parties on board are subscribing to that mindset. Argent Dawn steadily started losing that sense back circa 2014-2015, late Mists of Pandaria into Warlords of Draenor. Of course before that you always had those who went out of their way to cause trouble (Note: the ilk of Hrothgarr, Talenthiel, Luciase, Ottaline, Amarae and other old names) but they were (usually) flagged out as the troublemakers they were and accordingly put in containment.
Enter the PCU and suddenly its no longer an issue to organise mass harassment campaigns for those who you deem a "problem". After all, the PCU are PROVIDING you with RP, how DARE you criticize them. Other groups see how this works and start adopting a similar methodology.
It is absolutely better to expose someone (especially someone with a large public following and influence) doing misdeeds than to let them continue the abuse. The Royal Court (and its satellite DiCU guilds) , The Sanguine Eye, The Rotgarde (and the PCU more widely), The Arathi Honor Guard, Grim Dawn to name some examples, all have been responsible for abusing their influence to manipulate and bully others into submission.
So no, shutting our mouths is what led to a situation we are in now. If anything we need to be louder.
