Outfits based on this. Steven's skirt was drawn the way I did because trying to make it soft and ruffled like in the original got me confused.

stevaide era in which they're already married (no ruby yet, but they're enjoying the husband and wife only experience) and while jaide has pretty much softened up to good 'ol stevie boy she's still the same somewhat sassy, smug but loving wife of his. there's definitely a time where steven came home dirty, smudges of dirt everywhere on his white dress shirt - he removed his black coat to not get dirty, but dirtying the white clothing is far worse to be honest. sure he rolled up his sleeves, but it's still there.

she would be a little grumpy seeing how he ruined his nice shirt and would insist on cleaning it asap as she argues "it'll get out quicker if it's fresh" so she basically gets his shirt off and heads to wash it

steven's clothes being washed by others was normal to him, he definitely has some helpers or maids who did that for him before - but it feels so different when his wife does it so earnestly even if she looks to be mad about it - there's a tint of "i can't let my handsome man look messy" everytime she does it. she's so subtle with her feelings but now that he knows her like the back of his hand - she can't hide her real feelings now

sometimes if he came home the same way, but with less dirt - she wouldn't be bothered - but rather... taken aback by how interesting he looks with the way he rolled up his sleeves, his coat slinged over his shoulder, with a slight messy hair. he should keep that look more often actually.
