#Zomato and Swiggy Scam
Text
India doesn't have population crisis. It has capitalist crisis.

Sanghis are pushing the narrative that high unemployment is a result of 'population growth', not due to the policy of the government.
Think about it, a growing population actually needs more workers in various fields. We need more doctors, nurses, lawyers, judges, sanitation workers, construction workers, public transport employees etc. But Baba Ramdev is peddling theories about how population growth is at the root of all problems, and BJP has seized this logic.
While coming to power in 2014, BJP had promised 2 crore jobs each year, which was based on the calculation of how far public sectors need to be expanded to get the basics done. Now it is planning to roll back 42 PSUs (too bad if you were preparing for a government job, now continue to provide for yourself by working 12 hours a day at Swiggy/Zomato or by doing private tuitions), and blaming population growth for the high unemployment rates.
Some are blaming outdated coursework in universities, perhaps unaware that no university gets approved without having its infrastructure and coursework scrutinized by the government, and 5 years is more than enough time to get that done.
The entire Skill India project turned out to be a scam to siphon off public funds to privately run institutes, which made major gains here (https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/india-today-expose-finds-out-skill-india-initiative-weaves-more-scams-than-success-stories-1345024-2018-09-20). Moreover very little progress was made in guaranteeing the long standing demand for Rs 18,000 minimum wage for workers in all sectors. Our great nationalists have sworn to reduce Indian workers to slaves of MNCs, and workers rights have been systematically undermined.
More than being unemployed, the Indian worker is 'underemployed', not given full value of her labour or skills, and is reduced to a wheel in a cog rather than a human with skills and aspirations. It is high time we break out of this condition.
When questioned about why India was suffering such devastating famines that killed millions during British rule, the colonial officers often blamed the high population and argued for population control as the only solution. Now our government is behaving in the same manner, and using the same excuses. Are we really free?
