alison and adam are the only ones in the movie who refer to lawrence by his first name. one of them is his wife and the other is??? on the same level as his wife?? adam and lawrence relationship CANON
#saw#saw 2004#i can't formulate this thought very well rn but i hope you get it anyway#been thinking about this recently bc i am mildly bothered when ppl refer to lawrence as 'gordon' or 'dr gordon' only#everyone does it in the movie. even zep who hates his ass#even john and even TAPP#these three are all out to get lawrence one way or another and yet they respect his title? i never understood that#meanwhile alison (who lawrence loved at least at some point) and adam (his fellow prisoner) never call him that#i mean obviously alison doesn't bc they're married. but adam?#adam plows straight through formalities and right into the 'center' of lawrence#bc lawrence's title isn't his whole identity. it's not who he IS#he's just a flawed man. just like adam#alison is the closest person to lawrence (or used to be) and SOMEHOW-#SOMEhow adam has known him for like- a few days and he's already at the same level of 'intimacy' with lawrence that alison is#mentally i mean. neither adam nor alison pull any punches when calling lawrence out#i'm talking in circles rn but you get it right?#you GET IT. don't you??
