Aizawaxfemreader maybe where aizawa finally realises his feelings and gets frustrated. Knowing he wasn't planning on dating or living his life with someone.. regardless he confronts her and lets her know his feelings In his own awkward way. Maybe ending up with some fluff/cuddling. Just an idea Maybe a little angsty with aizawa being afraid to really admit it but ending up nice
Thanks for the request anon! This didn’t turn out super angsty, I hope that’s okay and that you still enjoy it! Let me know if it’s not quite what you wanted and I’ll be happy to give it another shot!
---------------
At first Aizawa thought the feelings had to be a fluke.
He’d just finished capturing a few villains that had been robbing a small convenience store. There was a young child inside, probably around nine he’d figured. She’d been separated from her parents who had been taken to the hospital for some minor injuries. He took the young girls hand and led her outside to a waiting police officer, a woman, who turned and offered him the kindest smile he’d ever seen.
“Well hello there, and what’s your name?” The officer asked, kneeling down so she was on the child's level.
Aizawa watched as the young girl hid behind his leg, nervous to speak to anyone.
“Her parents were the ones taken to the hospital.” He explained.
The woman looked up at him and offered that same kind smile.
“Got it, we’ll make sure you get back to your parents alright dear?” She said. The child still refused to answer, hiding her face more and grasping Aizawa’s pants leg.
“Hey.” He said softly, gently pulling the young girls hands away and kneeling down next to the officer.
“This lady is going to make sure you get back to your parents, you can trust her alright?” He explained, holding the child's hands gently.
When he turned to look at the woman next to him she was smiling at him fondly and his heart seemed to stutter in his chest.
She walked the small child over to another officer and he watched as she explained the situation and then helped the girl into the patrol car that would take her to the hospital.
Eventually Aizawa slipped away from the crowd and up to a low rooftop to finish watching the scene play out.
He couldn’t keep his eyes off the woman though. No matter what was happening his eyes kept gravitating towards her.
They met a handful of other times. Always at a crime scene Aizawa was working. Sometimes he’d turn around and there she’d be, willing to lend a hand with whatever needed done. And every time his heart would do that same stutter and flip it had that first night.
Every time he pushed the feelings away. He was a solitary person, he always had been. He knew his life wasn’t one that was meant to be shared with anyone. He kept ridiculous hours, worked to much, barely got enough sleep. What kind of partner would he be to anyone?
So every time the woman smiled at him in that friendly warm way, he grunted and turned on his heel, refusing to engage.
This kept on for quite a few months. Eventually he learned that she had a penchant for not listening to her superiors which gave him a laugh. Until one night Aizawa was faced with a villain who was destroying a building. He didn’t know why, or for what purpose, he just knew he had a job to do. He had the situation mostly under control, the police taking care of evacuating and helping the bystanders. He was in the process of capturing the villain when he saw her run past him and into the building.
He shouted for her to stop, the place wasn’t stable, pieces of it falling apart continuously. She wouldn’t listen though.
When he finally secured the villain he rushed after her.
“What are you doing!” He called, as he watched her reach around a corner.
“There’s a kid!” She shouted back.
“Alright, I’ll take care of it, you go, it’s dangerous.” He said, maneuvering through the debris to stand next to her.
The child was pinned under a piece of drywall that had fallen from one of the walls.
He lifted the debris off the small boy effortlessly and tossed it aside. When he turned back she was still standing, watching him, her eyes wide.
“I said go, I don’t want anyone else hurt.” He said again, snapping her back to action. She nodded and turned to go.
Aizawa reached down for the boy, pulling him up and out from the rest of the rubble that lie on top his body.
“Can you walk?” He asked. The boy shook his legs and nodded.
“Yes sir, but I think she’s hurt.” He pointed behind Aizawa who turned and saw the woman kneeling on the ground clutching her ankle. Aizawa’s heart seized in worry and he shook his head, pushing his feeling aside again.
“Alright, follow me.” The boy followed behind him carefully until they reached the officer.
“What happened?” He asked, kneeling down in front of her.
“I just twisted my ankle, I am fine.” She said through gritted teeth.
“Can you walk?” He questioned. She nodded and stood up but let out a yell and collapsed back to the ground.
Aizawa reached out instinctively, his arms wrapping around her and picking her up.
“Alright, let’s go.” He said to the boy, and the three of them made their way out of the building.
After the majority of the scene was under control Aizawa glanced around for the officer, finding her sitting on the curb across the street.
“Did you have anyone look at your ankle?” He asked as he walked over to her.
“They're all busy with more important things right now.” She said, waving a hand dismissively.
Aizawa grunted and sat down next to her, rummaging around in his utility belt.
“What are you doing?” She asked as he pulled out what he was looking for.
“I am wrapping your ankle, it won’t help much but it’s better than you sitting here doing nothing.” He explained, as he gently pulled her foot into his lap.
Her ankle was clearly swollen and turning a vibrant shade of purple as he pulled her boot and sock off.
“You don’t have to do this.” She said, her eyes fixated on his hands as they worked.
“It’s no problem.” He said softly, glancing over at her for a second.
He felt his heart stutter again and he closed his eyes and sighed.
“You know we’ve been working together a lot lately.” He said, as he worked on wrapping the bandage around her ankle.
“I don’t know if I’d call it working together. You handle the most dangerous part, we just help with damage control.” She mumbled.
“That’s not true. I’ve been, really grateful to have you with me these past few months.” He refused to meet her eyes, knowing she’d probably be able to see how flustered he was.
He wasn’t good at this kind of thing, admitting feelings for someone, but he knew he couldn’t deny them anymore. It had been months and she still gave him that feeling every time he saw her. He was excited when she showed up at a scene, and upset when they eventually had to part ways.
“What I mean is, I’ve really enjoyed seeing you, getting to know you.” She was quiet as he finished with her ankle.
“I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you too.” She said finally, moving her foot out of his lap and turning to sit next to him, their shoulders brushing.
“I think, maybe, I’d like to get to know you better, to see you more.” He said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.
He turned to face her and she smiled up at him brightly making his heart skip a beat.
“I’d like that.” She leaned into his side and he gently wrapped an arm around her, letting her rest her head against him.
