#also Mel has already done a great job at separating what she wants for herself as a person from just being Ambessa's daughter
Note
Mel for the unhinged character bingo!
yessss YEEEESSSSSSSSS
Tumblr media
#ask me#so Mel is in the unenviable position of being a very strong character whose rights I support and whose wrongs I also fully support#BUT the way she's treated broadly in the fandom is so pervasive and so consistent and so frustrating to me that#I am in full -must protect my blorbo- mode with her at all times#-Mel's story is over so the only thing left for her to do is die-#-if Mel dies then J can get together with V and they will appreciate her for her sacrifice bc she died a hero who rejected Ambessa-#enough! enough I say!#what about proving to ambessa that she can take the throne for herself? what about the angst of defying her mother and her home country#and opposing those in Piltover who DO want war and want to raze the undercity#what about the magic that she's heavily foreshadowed to have and how it's different from hextech#and how it directly opposes but also parallels what is happening to Viktor#what about her -friends- abroad and the plot Mel was cooking through all of season 1 that has not been revealed yet#there's so much potential for her to have to confront the fact that J was slowly becoming a monster through season 1#and that she can't ignore the undercity forever#also what if whoever Ambessa says killed her brother comes after Mel too!#it is very frustrating to see Mel get dismissed as dead or evil or irredeemable or whatever when she is consistently#the most interesting person in the room in every single scene she's in and the character who shows the most conviction and change#so yeah i will take a bullet for her she is my blorbo I will despise any character who hurts her#and I would cradle her in my arms if she gave me a chance - which she would never! - but a girl can dream#however I also enjoy leaning into the idea that Mel is perceived as being a devil from the outside - Mel leans into it too when it serves#but it's in direct opposition to her ironclad values and the personality that she keeps hidden a layer down#I genuinely think that Mel will have a happy ending - or at least as happy an ending that an Arcane character can get lol#like I fully believe she will take the throne (Piltover) in the end but I can only guess at this point what that will cost her#I love putting Mel in situations but mainly to play with both how creative she can get and also how fucking far she will go to win#which is ANOTHER thing we know is probably true about Mel but has not been put on display yet#also Mel has already done a great job at separating what she wants for herself as a person from just being Ambessa's daughter#but Mel still deserves to get plenty of great therapy for that situation because OH GOD THAT CHILDHOOD FLASHBACK#also Kino is dead? maybe dead?? at least Mel fully believes he's dead so she needs therapy and hugs for that too#I am super normal about her can you tell

Fictober18 #30 - “Do we really have to do this again?”
Tumblr media
This is today’s entry for fictober. I’m going to try to post a short story every day during October based on a quote provided by the organizer of Fictober18. All stories will be from Arrow based on the Olicity Fandom.
Today’s quote is “Do we really have to do this again?” This is a continuation of the story I’ve been doing since #22 (all past stories can be found under MyFanfic on my blog or on AO3). Oliver and Barry go on their next road trip leaving the girls alone. Also available on AO3.
“Do we really have to do this again?” Felicity tried not to whine but she hated being separated from Oliver. She understood it was part of his job but that didn’t make her miss him any less. Right now he was in town, she wanted to be with him. He’d come over to hang out, which led to making out, now he was leaving. She never liked it when Oliver left.
Felicity watched as he put his shirt back on. It was a crime to keep something that hot covered up.
“You do realize you said that out loud, right?” Oliver chucked. “I have to wear shirts or I’ll get cold.”
Felicity pouted. “Please stay, I promise I won’t attack you. Your virtue is safe with me. I just want to cuddle. Don’t you want to cuddle?”
Oliver sighed. “You make it very difficult to leave, Ms. Smoak.”
“I’m trying.” Felicity gave him an innocent smile.
Oliver leaned down to give her one more quick peck on the lips but was pulled into a much more intense kiss. He managed to pull himself off the bed, if somewhat reluctantly. “Felicity Smoak, I need you to know I want you more than anything.”
“Somehow I’m beginning to doubt that.” She rebutted, looking away.
Oliver leaned over, stroking her cheek to get her to look at him. “I do. I just want it to be perfect.”
Felicity huffed. “Oliver, it will never be perfect. You are putting too much pressure on us.”
“It will be, trust me. I’ll be back from our road trip on Saturday. Saturday evening why don’t you come over to my place. I’ll show you.” Oliver smiled, kissed her on the forehead.
“Oliver, you better not be teasing me. I want your body, I don’t think I’ve been shy about letting you know.” Felicity reached up to touch him, just missing him as he headed for the door.
“Oh, I know which is why I’m leaving now. I only have so much strength.” Oliver stopped in Felicity’s bedroom doorway. “So that’s a yes for Saturday?”
“No,” Felicity looked away, then back at a worried Oliver, “that’s a HELL YES!”
Oliver chuckled, then turned serious. “I’m going to miss you.”
“I’ll miss you lots and lots. But we’ll text, FaceTime and I’ll cheer you on at home.” Felicity was reassuring herself while she spoke.
“Miss you already,” Oliver said quietly as he walked out the door.
*****
“Seems like we are bachelorettes again.” Caitlin sipped her second coffee of the day. “Shall we order pizza for tonight’s game?”
“Sounds like a plan. It’s been a while.” Felicity smiled. “How are things going with you and Barry?”
“Well, since you asked…” Caitlin paused.
Felicity’s eyes opened wide. “Don’t leave me in suspense!”
Caitlin blushed. “Barry totally surprised me, he took initiative. He kissed me!”
“That’s amazing.” Felicity was so happy for her friend.
“Yeah, it really was. It was like he just let loose. He pinned me to the wall. It was mighty sexy. Now, I really can’t wait for him to come back.” Caitlin smiled. “What about you? I’m thinking you were not successful at seducing your boyfriend last night as I heard him leave.”
Felicity pouted. “No, not last night. But he did promise Saturday. He is definitely the romantic of the two of us. I kind of love that about him.”
Caitlin pounced. “You LOVE that about him?”
Felicity nodded. “I love everything about him, Caitlin! I’m done for! It’s like I have no choice.”
“But you’re happy? Right?” Caitlin smiled.
Felicity finished her coffee, rinsed the mug before putting it in the dishwasher. “I’ve never been happier. I just hope it lasts.”
“Well, I’ve seen the way Oliver looks at you, he’s not going anywhere. I have to get ready for work we will analyze my Barry situation tonight.” Caitlin headed for her room.
*****
“So, how are things going with Caitlin? Did you finally make a move?” Oliver teased Barry as they left their afternoon practice.
“As a matter of fact, I did. Caitlin is now very well aware that I’m interested.” Barry smiled proudly.
“I’m happy for you, man. Caitlin seems great.” Oliver really wanted the best for Barry and since he wasn’t sharing Felicity, Caitlin it was.
“She really is, I just wish I hadn’t wasted so much time. I’m lucky to get a second chance, I’m not going to waste it.” Barry walked with a little bounce in his step. “I’m thinking from your annoying permanent good mood things are going well with Felicity?”
“We are great. I used to love these trips, getting to visit different places but now I just want to stay home with Felicity. Don’t get me wrong she isn’t complaining she understands that travel is part of my job but I think we’d both rather be together. Wow, I really am a sap.” Oliver laughed at himself.
“Don’t worry your secret is safe with me.” They arrived back at the hotel. “I’m going to grab some food before the game. Caitlin has been giving me diet advice to help me get stronger. I think she’s worried I’m going to get hurt. I choose to look at as she cares.”
“Well, I’m going to head to Big Belly Burger, somehow I don’t think that falls into Caitlin’s diet plan.” Oliver teased. “But if you want to have a treat…”
Barry laughed. “Oh, I’m coming with you. Caitlin didn’t say I had to stay on plan all the time.”
*****
Felicity: I’m sorry you lost the game, the refs were totally on the Leafs side
Felicity: You were robbed! I swore at the TV
Felicity: Hope you felt my support
Oliver: I miss you
Felicity: I miss you big time
Felicity: Saturday feels really far away
Felicity: You’ve turned me into a sap
Oliver: I won’t tell
Oliver: Two more sleeps until Saturday
Oliver: How was your day? What did you do?
Felicity: Worked, watched my hockey team lose, missed you
Felicity: Oh, I forgot I things are improving with Caitlin and Barry
Felicity: She was cheap on the details but I know my girl, she’s happy
Oliver: I got the same vibe from Barry
Felicity: Yeah everyone is happy
Felicity: I need to sleep
Felicity: FaceTime tomorrow?
Oliver: Definitely
Oliver: Sleep well
Oliver: Night
Felicity: Night
*****
Late Friday night, early Saturday morning Felicity had just gotten to sleep when her phone buzzed. She was going to ignore it but it was so odd she had to check it.
Oliver: Let me in
Felicity jumped out of bed, practically running to the door. She threw it open, pulling Oliver in for a kiss that showed him just how much she’d been missing him.
When they finally broke apart, Felicity dragged him to her room. “I love that you are here. But why are you here?”
Oliver pulled her back against him so her back hit his chest, she felt just how happy he was to see her. He began kissing down her neck. “I love you and I just couldn’t wait.”
Felicity turned to face him. “Did you just say...that..” Felicity licked her lips.
“I love you, Felicity Smoak. Don’t worry you don’t have to say it back, I just had to tell you.” Oliver stroked her cheek.
“I love you too.” Felicity leaned up on her tiptoes to kiss him. “Make love to me.”
“Yes.” Oliver scooped her up into his arms, carried Felicity back to her bed.
Tomorrow will be final part of this story :)
Hope you enjoyed. I’m going to tag a few people. Let me know if you want to be tagged or untagged!

Mel who plays Rhea who is still not to be confused with Rea who used to play Mel, I look forward to the great potential of Gabrielle and, although I could highlight it a lot more in this acceptance, let’s  just say we should all be excited and not make you wait any longer.
Two notes we had already discussed, worth noting here for others and for reminders when the bio is posted, FC Jennifer Morrison, and that the canon timeline that has her as 8 in GoF and 11 in DH would have her as just turned 41 in August of 2027 so her age is a year off.
Out of Character Information
Name/Alias: Mel
Preferred Pronoun: she/her
Age: 20
Timezone: GMT +4 I think
Activity Level: while I do have a lot of schoolwork, I’ve still managed to come on and complete replies, and I should still be able to do that in the future.
Original Character Information:
Desired Character: Gabrielle Delacour
Face Claim: Brit Marling - While Brit looks young for a 42 year old, the harry potter wikia claims that Veelas “ appear to be young”, and while Gabrielle is only a quarter Veela, Fleur’s ancestry is quite emphasized in the books and leads me to believe that it is a big part of Fleur as a character, and therefore, as a part of Gabrielle as well.
Character’s Sexuality: Bisexual
Why do you believe this will be a good character in this specific roleplay? Gabrielle can provide a knowledge that is more specific than that of what foreigners might know. While there is information in the British Wizarding World about the wizarding wars as of late, there is still not an in depth amount of knowledge being circulated, which is something Gabrielle can provide for this new generation who is now facing war themselves. I also believe that, while Gabrielle would have joined the Order if or when the war came, the actuality of her daughter possibly being in danger would hold her back.
Gabrielle Delacour is 42 years old, a water elemental, now works as a novelist and a part-time professor at the university, and is formerly from Beauxbatons.
❝I want to write a novel about silence. The things people don’t say.
↳ MAGIC
As a means to utilize the fact that the brains of children was malleable, the Delacours decided that private lessons for both of their daughters was important in the development of their magical abilities. This early education led Gabrielle to be particularly attentive to her magic and treating it as a muscle to be tended to, rather than as a separate being needed to be tamed. Gabrielle was quite average in her natural affinity, but this early education helped to make her a higher-than-average student; so long as she continued to practice. The fact that the Delacour girls attended a Wizarding school that possessed no stigma around elemental abilities, that Gabrielle did not feel the same pressure as those who might have attended Hogwarts as water elementals, and could develop her affinity to it without judgement.
↳ BACKSTORY
Gabrielle had been born far away from the dangers of the English Wizarding community and its rise and falls of blood purists through the ages, and would have never been highly involved with them were it not for her sister becoming Beauxbatons’ champion in the Triwizard Tournament and Gabrielle had not been saved by Harry Potter when Fleur couldn’t reach her. One might think that the war itself was the pivotal moment in Gabrielle’s life: and it might have been. However, it was the erasure of her sister’s experience that changed the youngest Delacour’s path. While remaining studious in her magical learning, her focus increasingly shifted to the war as time went on, and began to gather objects from those who’d participated in it that, while not wanting to destroy these objects, also didn’t want to keep them.
When she’d reached her university years, Gabrielle had amassed not only a large collection of objects of the past, but knowledge as well. Her first two years of university were spent in training for the auror department in France, thinking that was her place for so long that when she went through her first year and found in it something lacking, she pushed through another year, hoping that the passion she’d once held for such a position might be reignited somehow. She switched to the ‘Lettres’ program of her university. Her new program gave her a new sense of belonging, and learned so much that the way she viewed and studied the world was vastly different than how she’d done so before. She became, if at all possible, even more inquisitive.
The idea came as an accident. She’d been riding the train to England to visit her sister when she’d witnessed this young girl sitting by herself, shoulders slumped forward while she leaned against the wall of the cart as if she was hiding herself away. That is, until her mother came back to sit with her and demanded she sit like a proper lady. But the previous scene sparked an idea that prompted her to write out what she’d seen, and would then develop as time went by. Gabrielle worked on her novel throughout university, not knowing how it would end or what it would become, but feeling it was required of her to keep writing. By her third year of her new program –fifth year of university–, Gabrielle was querying agents to represent her and her novel. Once she landed an agent, it took another year before her book was published, but the pride she felt when her book hit the shelf was something else. This book would be the start of a new chapter in her own life, but also the start of a series.
Another milestone in her life came in the form of a daughter when she was twenty-four. Gabrielle had always been in love with the idea of love, and had had a few flings here and there, but nothing that ever truly felt right. At the age of twenty-three, Gabrielle met the man she thought would be the love of her life. He’d approached her while she was working on her second book of the series in a cafe in Hogsmeade, and it ‘all went downhill from there’, as he would have said. She thought him quite charming and endearing, and they were married within a year, much to her parents’ dismay. They could see how happy he made her, but they felt it was much too soon, despite her father giving his blessing. She found out she was pregnant not long after their honeymoon, and a few months later, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Her daughter would make her so happy that the divorce that came six years later didn’t make her as unhappy as it might have– of course, another factor was that he’d been unable to take anything from her once he’d been proven of having cheated on her, which, had stung greatly, but the later result of the divorce agreement and the fact that she would have full-custody of her daughter made up for it.
Gabrielle and her daughter, Madeleine, moved to Calais on their own from that moment on until three years later, when Harry Potter’s daughter was sent to live with them while she attended Beauxbatons. While Lily was older than Madeleine, the two got along as siblings did, and she quickly became integrated into their little family that, when she was to go back to Hogwarts five years later, it felt as though a piece was missing.
Gabrielle heard of the tensions that were rising in the British Wizarding World from the gossip she overheard; tensions that were all too alike to those she’d witnessed before the Second Wizarding War. The Delacour girl wanted to see her sister and do what she could for her sister’s second country, but her daughter and her daughter’s safety kept her away for as long as she could… until the death of Harry Potter. His death changed things in the country across the English channel, and while she still hesitated, Madeleine made the choice for them to move there by announcing she’d been accepted to attend Hogwarts university. As a means to keep an eye on her daughter, Gabrielle decided to apply for a job at the university teaching Muggle History classes.

Dancing with the Stars Season 24 Week 6: This Theme Was Crap
I hate doing stuff like this but here we go. I told y’all this week was gonna be a trainwreck. I just knew that none of these songs were going to actually work well with any of the styles (we were lucky that four of the 8 weren’t bad). It was also incredibly corny. And let me just say that this was probably the worst batch of team dances ever. And I think we have enough evidence to make a case to get the show to get rid of them. We haven’t seen a really good team dance since Team Foxing Awesome. Nick Carter was a guest judge as Julianne is somewhere in the country doing Move Beyond. And also he was in a boy band and was on the show, so why not. With all of that said, let me just try and fight my way through this. This is gonna be a tough one. So pray that I don’t throw my laptop against a wall during this recap.
Simone and Sasha- Samba (Score=35)- So I was kinda iffy on this dance. It was not great, but it was not bad. And I thought it was overscored slightly. I think technically, Simone was nearly perfect. Unfortunately, the song choice really affected the actual performance. It just wasn’t a samba song. And it really just didn’t work out. I’m surprised Sasha came up with what he did for that. Because it was rough. With all of that said, I actually think this was one of the better dances of the night. And that’s not a really good thing.
Bonner and Sharna- Rumba (Score=30)- I never realized how corny I Want It That Way was until it got separated from my childhood tonight and thrown onto this dance. I was cringing at those lyrics. Eek. I guess performance wise, Bonner did a good job. Technique and dancewise? Nope. And again, the song also didn’t really fit too well. It fit better than Survivor did for a samba, but that’s not saying much.
Nancy and Artem- Paso Doble (Score=33)- Well, this dance had the potential to be great. And it almost was. The big issue here was Nancy’s nerves. I think she put so much pressure on herself to do well because this song, Free Your Mind, kinda belongs to Mel and Maks’s paso. Those are big shoes to fill. But yeah, she got in her head and the first half of the dance really fell flat. She lost some control, her shaping wasn’t as precise as it needed to be and she was tense. I also thought the cage part was way longer than necessary. Once the second half of the dance rolled around, Nancy seemed to be more at ease, got into the character and really killed it. I thought it was good, she just psyched herself out too much.
Nick and Peta- Jive (Score=28)- To be honest, I missed about half of this dance. At this point in the show, I was over it and forgot it was still on. What I did catch was not that great. Nick was confident and he performed well, but I don’t think his technique was that good at all. I do think he probably should have gotten the same score as Bonner (or really a point or two higher than him as I thought Bonner was overscored).
Normani and Val- Salsa (Score=38)- This was an absolutely awful salsa song. Just dreadful. Just as dreadful as a samba to Survivor. But I don’t think this was actually very good at all. Because the song was so wrong, the energy was way too low for a salsa. I think Normani did everything that she was given, really well. however, she was not given much. There was such a lack of content, that it pissed me off. Val has given her content lite dances more often than not. And when Len calls him out for it and rightfully so, Val talks back? No. Shut up. This dance was full of spins and a few lifts and some arm passes. There were a few other salsa steps thrown in, but they were half assed, so I don’t count those. Normani is doing great with what she’s been given. Val is just phoning this season in and not really challenging her. This was also way overscored and should have been no more than a 35.
David and Lindsay- Argentine Tango (Score=29)- The judges were way too harsh on David. I thought that this was his best performance to date. Both in terms of technique and performance. Lindsay choreographed a great routine that David could execute well. The biggest issue was that lift that he had trouble with. I think he was nervous and never really got his footing right, which made him unsteady. But he kept Lindsay safe, and that’s all you can ask for at that point. Yeah, I enjoyed it, and it should have been straight 8s.
Rashad and Emma- Tango (Score=37)- This was amazing. I really loved this and it was the one dance that sort of saved the night for me. I think the music worked perfectly with the dance. I loved the intro and the staging. It was unfortunate that Rashad did lose a little bit of control because he went after it so much. He also lost his frame a bit. But otherwise, this was my favorite dance of the night. It deserved the score that it got, for sure.
Heather and Maks- Rumba (Score=40)- Well. I will say that this was the type of dancing that I was looking for from Heather all season long. I think this was her best dance of the season. Unfortunately, because of Heather’s background and the fact that I already was so over the night by the time she was up, I didn’t really get to appreciate the way I probably would have without the circumstances. Somewhere down the line, I might look at it again and really enjoy it. But for now, it was good and it was the best dance of the night. PS CAI conveniently missed a lift...
Team Dances
Team Boy Band (Score=33) vs. Team Girl Group (Score=34)- These dances were terrible. Now, I think Team Boy Band was way more fun and enjoyable than Team Girl Group. And they did WAY MORE DANCING. It was clear they all had a good time, even though it was far from perfect. I really enjoyed it and thought they embraced the theme of the dance and the night incredibly well. They really were like a boy band that you see at your 8 year old chlid’s elementary school. You know the boy band that performs at the talent show and everyone claps but it’s clear that only one of them knows what they’re doing? Yeah, like that. As for Team Girl Group, I was so disappointed. They had all of that talent on that team and did the least amount of dancing that I’ve ever seen done in a team dance. I was like “Wtf is this” the whole time. It was a waste of their time, my time, the show’s time and the nation’s time. I can’t even really critique it because they didn’t do much but sit and whip their hair. Maybe do a few lifts and some jive steps and that’s it. It was terrible.
Anyway, all of Team Girl Group was in jeopardy. As soon as they said that and I saw what everyone said Heather got on her rumba, her running order and the fact that she had a lift, I knew she was a goner. And she was. In a “shocking elimination” or whatever. I been telling y’all since the season started that it was going to be her though. She had “SHOCKING ELIMINATION” written all over her from the time the cast was announced. So I wasn’t shocked and was actually expecting it.
Next week, is our immunity challenge/dance off bull. I’m so excited about that. Is next week A Night at the Movies too? Idk. I just know the immunity thing. Bonner and Nick still need to be worried. I would also throw in Nancy and Normani at this point. Now that we’ve started the “shocking eliminations” we don’t know how many we’re gonna get before the finals. And I definitely see one more happening before the season ends. That’s it. Let me know your thoughts on how much this night sucked (or if you enjoyed it) and I will talk to you all soon.
