There's little i love as much as various marks in old japanese texts. Leaving aside iteration marks (which are worthy of their own long, detailed post), let's look at this squiggle:
This is called a part alternation mark. It's mostly used to mark the beginning of a singer's part in musical notations for Noh etc,,,,,
