My lukewarm take is that while A:tlA did most of what it set out to do impeccably, "what it set out to do" was never really that good or groundbreaking
#babbles#do I want to elaborate on this? possibly. do I have the energy to do it now? absolutely not#the tl;dr is that it's a typical hero's journey about fate and nature and grief and and balance#but like. on the nature vs nurture argument it leans way too heavily on the nature side and for that it plays out exactly lile you'd expect#and like that's the story they wanted to tell and they told it really solidly#but does it really deserve the praise for it when the thesis itself is just mid and not treading any new ground?#also i'm SO TIRED of Zuko being held up as the only redemption arc#shut up about Zuko oh my god. his arc was equally as boring you just love woobies
