oh I was just about to make a similar post as one of my mutuals about the divide of casual vs hardcore wrestling fans + how I dont think I fit in either technically

in the online space, I'm comparatively a casual wrestling fan. didn't engage with online community for years at all (literally just watched wrestling and followed it and thought about it on my own or w fam). I don't know a lot of the inside jokes/rumors/the general fan reception for years to this day. at most I read youtube comments & go on twitter for certain wrestlers or verified news. I only stick to one promotion for the most part and don't care for backstage politics, drama, or dirtsheets. I watch (and rewatch!) what I like and that's it.

but if you ask anyone in my life they'd tell you I'm the biggest fan ever! an "expert" if they had to call on one 😂

the actual most hardcore fan I know has encyclopedic knowledge, cares about stats, but has told me that they never watch interviews or documentaries or care about the process, which makes me more hardcore than them. that's wild to me!

it's all just arbitrary. it doesn't really matter at the end of the day. except if you want to be in certain spaces where people care about that

personally, I just like what I like, and that's all that matters to me.

I loveee not knowing everything (knowing too much/being too deep in the weeds feels like it takes away from just enjoying the show as it was meant to be enjoyed) and I like forming my own taste and opinions irrespective of a general culture, taste, or consensus.

remembering what I first thought of something, keeping that in mind with current and future happenings, then watching it build on itself is fun.

whether my opinions happen to be shared by a whole community or not, my experience is my experience, so it's all the same to me. fomo is a trap that sucks joy. the fun part about art is that it means something & is experienced unique to each person
