“And of course all these little idiots can do is chuck their brains out the window and grind against each other to shitty music...”
“(laughs) Oh, Erik, lighten up! They’ve worked hard all term -- they could use at least a little bit of fun. Besides...at least we get to spend some time together too, right? ...Do you want to go dance?”
“Dance? (clears thought loudly) Well, that is...we’re supposed to be chaperoning.”
“And we will -- while having some fun! Come on...let’s go up and request a good song and we can show these kids how to really dance.”
“(smirks despite himself) ...You can be very persuasive, Ms. Kim.”

Halloween part 4/5! And this go-round, we have my Sour Patch TA Erik Apollo and his “better half” Roxanni “Roxy” Kim @mira-shard as Cale from Fox’s Titan A.E. and Anna from Disney’s Frozen 2! (I’m so thrilled that I finally get the excuse to draw these two together!!)
Although this prompt is largely about some of my favorite animated movies, I confess that Titan A.E. isn’t at the top of my list, nor was it the first choice I had while thinking of costumes for Erik...originally I’d considered dressing him as Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians, but I ultimately decided Jack was a better fit for one half of the final couple I’m drawing for this project (wonder if you can guess who 😏). So I considered Don Bluth’s work, and after considering Dimitri from Anastasia briefly (and ruling it out because I already cast Erik’s guardian Carewyn as Anya), I settled on Cale -- and honestly, it’s not a bad match-up. Cale is sort of a back-talking, hard-to-trust type who loses his family tragically and has to kind of rebuild his life after the fact, and he’s also in a sci-fi setting, which suits Erik’s huge love of Star Wars. I did give Erik a turtleneck on his shirt, though, since his burn scars make him too self-conscious to wear an open-necked shirt like Cale originally wears.
Roxy was MUCH easier to cast -- as soon as I thought of Anna, I fell in love with the idea right away. Although I identify more with Elsa, I would absolutely love playing Anna if I was ever in a production of or sang something from Frozen, and I honestly think Anna gets the better outfits more often than not, out of her and Elsa. And my absolute favorite of her outfits is definitely her main look in Frozen 2, complete with that fab purple capelet.
Hope you all enjoy! Have a magical day! xoxo 🎃
