Who is Darkstalker again and why is he so big and under fire? My WoF knowledge is failing me and I haven’t read the books in several years.
Darkstalker is a villain from wings of fire - he’s one of the real big bads for the last few books. In fact, he got his own book dedicated to his past (Darkstalker: Legends) which I highly recommend you read! But here’s the main things he does that make him an excellent villain! But a not a uwu soft boi:Attempted genocide of an entire tribe of dragons. Enchanting dragons without their consent. Enchanting his father and making him cut out his own tongue, then disembowel himself. Enchanting others to make him seem good. Enchanting others to be loyal to him via giving them superpowers. Dropping hints to Anemone that she should kill her mother with her animus powers (and nearly driving her to do so). Inciting a war between Nightwings and Icewings. Trying to turn Fierceteeth into Clearsight. Threats of violence to those who oppose him. Wanting to be in total control as the eternal king of all dragonkind forever (his is immortal and invulnerable). Darkstalker is an asshole, which makes him an amazing villain. I love how he is written! But,,,,,,, people are determined to make him some uwu Brendan Urie dragon who loves Moon and would really change for her, when he couldn’t even change for Clearsight - a dragon he regarded as his soulmate. He couldn’t change for the dragonets they had in her visions of their good future. He gave it all up for power, because he is a power-hungry, manipulative, cruel and cunning monster. Excellent villain! But not the kind of character I’d like to see survive his ordeals, especially after he tried to commit genocide. That was a big ol’ nail in his coffin for me. They didn’t kill him in the end tho - they couldn’t. He was too powerful. My favourite AU is where he lives happily with Clearsight and Indigo and Fathom live together too and everyone is happy, all because Darkstalker breaks his sister, Whiteout, out of her egg after he hatches. She is an animus like him, a thrice-moon-born dragonet with the power of mindreading and prophecy. She foresees her mother’s kidnapping, and her father’s decline into madness, and saves both by challenging Queen Diamond for the icewing throne and winning. Arctic lives with her in the ice kingdom, and she relaxes the social order and lets Icewings become a more accepting tribe. Darkstalker and Foeslayer visit her and her father at an agreed meet up point, where they have family boardgames and lots of fun. Arctic is happy, and healthy again. Foeslayer is happy and doesn’t have to worry about her boys always fighting, and she’s proud of her daughter for becoming a truly amazing Queen. Darkstalker and Clearsight have those dragonets that she had visions about. Whiteout finds an icewing who she adores, and they have dragonets who carry on a legacy of peace and acceptance in their tribe. Fathom and Indigo come and visit the family and all their dragonets play together, growing up knowing each other like family, meaning that Nightwings, Icewings and Seawings form an alliance that lasts through the centuries. The three families are remembered forever because they saved pyhrria from the worst evil ever to be unleashed:Darkstalker, an animus teenager who lost his mother and became the darkness of dragons.
