Really funny that my herdy spitzy toy mix puppy came pre-installed with a better natural retrieve to hand than my dual-bred pointer ngl
#insert that tiktok audio#not funny like haha funny funny like weird#and weird as like... how american hunting dog breeders rely so much on aversive tools and force fetching to get a good retrieve to hand#that they actually neglect breeding for good natural retrieving ability in their hunting dogs who retrieve as a normal part of their work#for some reason whenever i voice this opinion theres always at least one person who says 'okay but (insert HPR breed here) arent like labs'#to which i say HUNT POINT RETRIEVE INCLUDES RETRIEVE AND A GOOD HPR DOG HAS A NATURAL INSTINCT TO RETRIEVE#so like... dont bother commenting that kthnx#this is the reason why i am importing my next hunting dog#and if the shoe doesnt fit for you as an HPR person with this post? keep scrolling and don't defend wearing it#it is not within anyones power to convince me that breeding for bad instinct and then correcting it with aversive methods is ethical#same goes for breeding for more drive than is ideal for the type of hunting you do and then forcibly reeling it in with aversive methods#this is the hill i will happily die on
