me, at the start of the dark elf trilogy: ugh, what is this pretentious bullshit, why would anyone ever like this guy
me, three months later, at the end of the dark elf trilogy: *unintelligible sobbing*
#disregard the part where it takes me over a month to read one relatively short book#originally i only started reading the books because i knew that jarlaxle was gonna show up eventually#and like. i guess i'm gonna have to put up with this drizzt guy if i want to get to that part#and then i spent the entire third book rooting for drizzt to please get some friends#even just one friend#someone who doesn't chase him off the moment they see him#please#and then there were people who cared about him and they were fucking killed off!#ah!#genuinely though#i teared up when mooshie died#and now i'm fully crying because drizzt is talking about his friends (most of whom i don't even know because they're from the next trilogy)#and he decided that he wants to be the kind of adventurer that bards write stories about and now i'm reading his story!#like. fuck#i'm crying again
