caesar being so normal about brutus
#chapman's caesar and pompey#spam tag#*cordelia voice* i shall never marry to love my father whole *stabs him*#the handel-chapman concurrence was too sharp and now this play occupies a part of my brain#and also the surena posting made me think about caesar's clementia with regard to like. poisonous gifts of sorts#the second moment reminds me of a very specific hbo rome shot where caesar's looking at brutus accepting his offer of peace post-pharsalus#and there's a real saturn devouring his son vibe to me. which is funny given that brutus is the one to get the saturn ref in the show#brutus in this play is a little fascinating to be honest. there's something about his tone i just can't place#also in another play of chapman his name is mentioned alongside antigone's. sadly i don't intend to read it but ey!#OKAY going to bed now otherwise i'm going to try and reread the play
