#for the record i dont wanna judge if shipping characters is what people want to do with their black sails experience#i dont relate but you do you#i DO think that the themes of black sails are WHY it isn't more popular#its messages aren't easily digestible#and because it's more about messaging than about spectacle its not going to hold the interest of the wider audience of people#who are accustomed to Only Spectacle#someone who's watching black sails just to see pretty people or just to see action or just to see romance#isn't going to stay interested past the end#and they'll likely find the tragedy of it all to be unsatisfying
