#maybe the real sub was the cia analyst we met along the way#the hunt for red october#jack ryan#marko ramius#bart mancuso#this scene is so much and it's ramius continuing to be smart but he's also so funny#like. there was plenty of time!! he could have told them about the safety in the torpedo!! but he didn't 🤪#he wanted to see if the americans as a whole trusted him#and he also wanted to see if ryan as an individual trusted him#and this is AGAIN ryan going on his instinct up against mancuso's training#and trusting ramius--who he had met ONCE prior to this#and because ryan chooses to trust him (and saves everyone's lives since they wouldn't have outrun the torpedo)#ramius trusts him in return in the missile bay#AND ALSO from mancuso's pov#we get ryan making again another bonkers decision that paid off but even once the torpedo bounces off the boat#mancuso is still super cautious and doesn't fully trust ramius and his officers (“he won't change his mind huh ryan??” in the shootout)#until he sees ramius' reaction to borodin's death and it's like a flip switched so he hands ramius his gun#ray.gif
