I recently was rewatching the start of the movie Vendetta (gotta really rewatch that soon) and it made me realize something pretty relevant and that is that women RARELY are shown all beaten up and shit like men are on screen. Women dead and bleeding yeah but... There was something about how the protagonist's wife looked like in that movie that was simply pretty disturbing even for me.

And that did make me think, is this a good or a bad thing? Because on one hand, you could argue it's bad because people refuse to show women on screen as anything but sexy and desirable and just beautiful even when dead; yet you could also argue it's good because it doesn't fullfil any sick fucker's fantasies.

Though thinking back on it now, as i write this, I'm inclined to think it's more of the first case, because the second demography gets a lot of what they want pretty easily anyway so 🤔

#luly talks #i guess maybe it was just disturbing bc of the dissonance or the unexpecteness of it #but that's only bc women and children dont usually get done big harm like that!#well women more than children but still #i dont mind children not being harmed tho i hate that shit in movies #when i watched dog eat dog and mad dog killed his (step?) daughter i just stopped laughing and was upset #and. well. y'all know how i feel about WHTM.#i think child death and shit can be good and well handled in movies be it either for drama or comedy or whatever #but its complicated #I GUESS RLLY... what was so disturbing it was the victim aspect of it #because usually women who get beaten up and shit in movies are action protags like their male counterparts #(horror movies are out of this discussion btw)#like with kate and uhhh peppermint i guess? im not sure. kill bill? that's not her name.#sorry i dont know many female action protagonists but ANYWAY #seeing this character who was a regular defenseless person get so brutally killed as soon as the movie starts its just...#i don't know man #there's something too heavy about it #maybe its even the fact that we dont actually know what happened to her EXACTLY #its just cut and she has been brutally killed #well im done rambling now but i would love to hear others opinion on.... all or any of this ansghsgd
