Maybe my favorite part about Cheongryeo as a part-time antagonist is that he clearly genuinely likes Park Moondae/Ryu Gunwoo outside of his general obsession with him as someone who knows what he's been going through. It's interesting to have a character who does messed up shit not because he hates the main character or wants to see him fail, but because he wants to challenge him to do better. Except he's also got his brain thoroughly scrambled by regressing who knows how many times and so his 'help' comes with a huge chance of coming closer to sabotage.

#debut or die spoilers #finally reached THAT chapter and him meticulously trying to plan park moondae's next attempt at an idol career is SO funny #also him being unable to NOT play some kind of mindgame whenever he contacts Moondae?? literally incapable of being normal lol #anyways i love this take on a rival/antagonist who's more dangerous because he actually cares for the MC #another thought: it's kind of fitting that Moondae's biggest pain in the ass isn't someone who just cares about money or using him #but someone who- ironically - cares about him as a person #someone as isolated and lonely as ryu gunwoo would be hit much harder emotionally by that kind of adversary imho #just looking at his intense reaction every time cheongryeo simply contacts him truly feels like a mix of #'what the hell kind of mindgame will this asshole play next'#but ALSO 'oh god someone who is emotionally invested and strongly interested in me as a person is paying attention to me'#oh the humiliation and discomfort of suddenly holding that kind of intense attention from someone #meta
