#mine#silm#silmarillion#no this is not Technically canon but it's not actually /counter/-canonical#and i think it just Works in terms of like. the Thematics. the Symbolism#curufin's heritage from his father being smth that is given to him *by* his father and that he willingly takes on#and Chooses to define himself by#whereas curufin pointedly *doesn't* give this weight to celebrimbor but he Gets It Anyway#bc despite all his best efforts (and maybe curufin's best efforts) celebrimbor is still Enmeshed in The Family Doom#(also this version allows me to play with both 'three generations of curufinwës' AND#'celebrimbor is partly named after celegorm' at the Same Time. which is fun)#i promise i'll do a longer meta on this Sometime later that's more coherent it's like 1am and i have Feelings#just gotta get this Out There
