ffnet's bad on so many levels but the one thing I really miss from ao3 is consistent fucking genre labels
#I looked through the Redacted tag earlier and got annoyed#I'm largely indifferent to a lot of ships and don't really care as long as the overall story is interesting#I just want to know if it's tagged as Ship because the entire plot only resolves around them getting together#(read: not interesting to me bc I don't give a shit)#or if they're fucking bc they suffer from Basically Canon Syndrome and there's plot that isn't about their relationship#(read: I'm in the Plot tag. I'm actively looking for Plot. but if I just filter Ship in The Ship Fandom there are no fics left)#ignore me I'm just irrationally irritated with fandom otps#bc with smaller ships it's like. unless the author is over tagging you're going to get a reasonable amount of ship content#with larger ships you might get a blink and you miss it line about them may or may not being together#which makes it impossible to fucking filter in either fucking direction
