It's about a rebellion it's about multiple versions of the same story it's about survival it's about#a holiday that has taken on a life of its own in the diaspora in proximity and juxtaposition to Xtian supremacy it's about a story that can#be interpreted in multiple contexts both Zionist and revolutionary it's a story about anti-assimilationism but I even hesitate to call it#that bc that's a story that's been co-opted so many ways and means#i do think it's funny that in goyishe public school the explanation of the holiday basically ends at#*The oil burned for eight days and eight nights* (from what I remember from public elementary school in Atlanta)#and doesn't get into you know all the violence and fucked up part of the story lol#hanukkah
